| 1 Portanto, se ressuscitastes com Cristo, buscai as coisas que são lá de cima, onde Cristo está sentado à dextra de Deus; | 1 Therefore, if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above; where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God: |
| 2 afeiçoai-vos às coisas que são lá de cima, não às que estão sobre a terra. | 2 Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth. |
| 3 Com efeito, (pelo batismo) estais mortos (para as coisas terrenas) e a nossa vida está escondida com Cristo em Deus. | 3 For you are dead; and your life is hid with Christ in God. |
| 4 Quando aparecer Cristo, que é a vossa vida, então também vós aparecereis com ele na glória. | 4 When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with him in glory. |
| 5 Mortificai, pois, os vossos membros terrenos: a fornicação, a impureza, as paixões, os desejos maus e a avareza, que é uma idolatria, | 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is the service of idols. |
| 6 pelas quais coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da incredulidade; | 6 For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief, |
| 7 entre as quais coisas vós também andastes outrora, quando vivíeis nelas. | 7 In which you also walked some time, when you lived in them. |
| 8 Mas agora deixai, também vós, tudo isto: a ira, a indignação, a malícia, a maledicência, a palavra torpe da vossa boca. | 8 But now put you also all away: anger, indignation, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech out of your mouth. |
| 9 Não mintais uns aos outros, visto que vos despojastes do homem velho com as suas obras | 9 Lie not one to another: stripping yourselves of the old man with his deeds, |
| 10 e vos revestistes do homem novo, daquele que se renova (continuamente, avançando sempre na perfeição) para o conhecimento mais perfeito (de Deus) segundo a imagem daquele que o criou, | 10 And putting on the new, him who is renewed unto knowledge, according to the image of him that created him. |
| 11 onde não há (diferença de) Grego e Judeu, circuncidado e incircuncidado, bárbaro e Scita, servo e livre, não há senão Cristo que é tudo em todos. | 11 Where there is neither Gentile nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian nor Scythian, bond nor free. But Christ is all, and in all. |
| 12 Vós, pois, como escolhidos de Deus, santos e amados, revesti-vos de sentimentos de misericórdia, de benignidade, de humildade, de mansidão, de paciência, | 12 Put ye on therefore, as the elect of God, holy, and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience: |
| 13 sofrendo-vos uns aos outros e perdoando-vos mutuamente, se algum tem razão de queixa contra o outro. Assim como o Senhor vos perdoou a vós, também vós perdoai (uns aos outros). | 13 Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against another: even as the Lord hath forgiven you, so do you also. |
| 14 Sobretudo, porém tende caridade, que é o vínculo da perfeição. | 14 But above all these things have charity, which is the bond of perfection: |
| 15 Triunfe em vossos corações a paz de Cristo, à qual fostes chamados, para (formar) um só corpo. Sede agradecidos. | 15 And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. |
| 16 A palavra de Cristo habite em vós com toda a sua riqueza. Ensinai-vos e admoestai-vos uns aos outros, com toda a sabedoria, cantai a Deus, em vossos corações, salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais, sob a ação da graça. | 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly, in all wisdom: teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God. |
| 17 Tudo o que fizerdes, em palavras ou por obras, fazei tudo em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando por ele graças a Deus Pai. | 17 All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. |
| 18 Mulheres, estai sujeitas a vossos maridos, como convém, no Senhor. | 18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as it behoveth in the Lord. |
| 19 Maridos, amai vossas mulheres e não sejais ásperos para com elas. | 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter towards them. |
| 20 Filhos, obedecei em tudo a vossos pais, porque isto é agradável ao Senhor. | 20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to the Lord. |
| 21 Pais, não provoqueis à indignação os vossos filhos, para que se não tornem pusilânimes. | 21 Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged. |
| 22 Servos, obedecei em tudo a vossos senhores temporais, não servindo só quando sob as (suas) vistas, como para agradar aos homens, mas com simplicidade de coração, temendo a Deus. | 22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not serving to the eye, as pleasing men, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God. |
| 23 Tudo o que fizerdes, fazei-o de boa vontade, como (quem o faz) pelo Senhor e não pelos homens, | 23 Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men: |
| 24 sabendo que recebereis do Senhor a herança (do céu) como recompensa. Servi a Cristo Senhor, | 24 Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ. |
| 25 porque aquele que cometer injustiça, receberá segundo o que fez injustamente: não há acepção de pessoas (diante de Deus). | 25 For he that doth wrong, shall receive for that which he hath done wrongfully: and there is no respect of persons with God. |
