Deuteronomium 27

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Præcepit autem Moyses et seniores Israël populo, dicentes : Custodite omne mandatum quod præcipio vobis hodie.	1 Moses and the elders of Israel gave the people this command: 'Keep al the commandments which Iam laying down for you today.
2 Cumque transieritis Jordanem in terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, eriges ingentes lapides, et calce lævigabis eos,	2 After you have crossed the Jordan into the country which Yahweh your God is giving you, you mustset up tal stones, coat them with lime
3 ut possis in eis scribere omnia verba legis hujus, Jordane transmisso : ut introëas terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, terram lacte et melle manantem, sicut juravit patribus tuis.	3 and on them write all the words of this Law, when you have crossed and entered the country whichYahweh your God is giving you, a country flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, God of your ancestors, haspromised you.
4 Quando ergo transieritis Jordanem, erigite lapides, quos ego hodie præcipio vobis in monte Hebal, et lævigabis eos calce :	4 'When you have crossed the Jordan, you must erect these stones on Mount Ebal, as I command youtoday, and coat them with lime.
5 et ædificabis ibi altare Domino Deo tuo de lapidibus, quos ferrum non tetigit,	5 There, for Yahweh your God, you must build an altar of stones, on which no iron has been used.
6 et de saxis informibus et impolitis : et offeres super eo holocausta Domino Deo tuo,	6 You must build the altar of Yahweh your God of rough stones, and on this altar you will present burntofferings to Yahweh your God,
7 et immolabis hostias pacificas, comedesque ibi, et epulaberis coram Domino Deo tuo.	7 and immolate communion sacrifices and eat them there, rejoicing in the presence of Yahweh yourGod.
8 Et scribes super lapides omnia verba legis hujus plane et lucide.	8 On these stones you must write al the words of this Law; cut them careful y.'
9 Dixeruntque Moyses et sacerdotes Levitici generis ad omnem Israëlem : Attende, et audi, Israël : hodie factus es populus Domini Dei tui :	9 Moses and the levitical priests then said to al Israel: 'Be silent, Israel, and listen. Today you havebecome a people for Yahweh your God.
10 audies vocem ejus, et facies mandata atque justitias, quas ego præcipio tibi.	10 You must listen to the voice of Yahweh your God and observe the commandments and laws which Iam laying down for you today.'
11 Præcepitque Moyses populo in die illo, dicens :	11 That day Moses gave the people this order:
12 Hi stabunt ad benedicendum populo super montem Garizim, Jordane transmisso : Simeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Joseph, et Benjamin.	12 'When you have crossed the Jordan, the fol owing wil stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people:Simeon and Levi, Judah and Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin.
13 Et e regione isti stabunt ad maledicendum in monte Hebal : Ruben, Gad, et Aser, et Zabulon, Dan, et Nephthali.	13 And the fol owing wil stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad and Asher, Zebulun, Dan andNaphtali.
14 Et pronuntiabunt Levitæ, dicentque ad omnes viros Israël excelsa voce :	14 The Levites wil then speak, proclaiming loudly to al the Israelites:
15 Maledictus homo qui facit sculptile et conflatile, abominationem Domini, opus manuum artificum, ponetque illud in abscondito : et respondebit omnis populus, et dicet : Amen.	15 "Accursed be anyone who makes a carved or cast idol, a thing detestable to Yahweh, a workman'sartefact, and sets it up in secret." And the people are al to respond by saying, Amen.
16 Maledictus qui non honorat patrem suum, et matrem : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	16 "Accursed be anyone who treats father or mother dishonourably." And the people must al say,Amen.
17 Maledictus qui transfert terminos proximi sui : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	17 "Accursed be anyone who displaces a neighbour's boundary mark." And the people must al say,Amen.
18 Maledictus qui errare facit cæcum in itinere : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	18 "Accursed be anyone who leads the blind astray on the road." And the people must al say, Amen.
19 Maledictus qui pervertit judicium advenæ, pupilli et viduæ : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	19 "Accursed be anyone who violates the rights of the foreigner, the orphan and the widow." And thepeople must al say, Amen.
20 Maledictus qui dormit cum uxore patris sui, et revelat operimentum lectuli ejus : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	20 "Accursed be anyone who has sexual intercourse with his father's wife and withdraws the skirt of hisfather's cloak from her." And the people must all say, Amen.
21 Maledictus qui dormit cum omni jumento : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	21 "Accursed be anyone who has sexual intercourse with any kind of animal." And the people must allsay, Amen.
22 Maledictus qui dormit cum sorore sua, filia patris sui, vel matris suæ : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	22 "Accursed be anyone who has sexual intercourse with his sister, the daughter of his father or of hismother." And the people must al say, Amen.
23 Maledictus qui dormit cum socru sua : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	23 "Accursed be anyone who has sexual intercourse with his mother-in-law." And the people must alsay, Amen.
24 Maledictus qui clam percusserit proximum suum : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	24 "Accursed be anyone who secretly strikes down his neighbour." And the people must al say, Amen.
25 Maledictus qui accipit munera, ut percutiat animam sanguinis innocentis : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	25 "Accursed be anyone who accepts a bribe to take an innocent life." And the people must al say,Amen.
26 Maledictus qui non permanet in sermonibus legis hujus, nec eos opere perficit : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.	26 "Accursed be anyone who does not make the words of this Law effective by putting them intopractice." And the people must al say, Amen.'
