Ezechielis 22

VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 Et tu, fili hominis, nonne judicas, nonne judicas civitatem sanguinum ?	2 'Son of man, are you ready to judge? Are you ready to judge the blood-stained city? Confront her withal her loathsome practices!
3 Et ostendes ei omnes abominationes suas, et dices : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Civitas effundens sanguinem in medio sui, ut veniat tempus ejus : et quæ fecit idola contra semetipsam, ut pollueretur.	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: City shedding blood inside yourself to hasten your doom, makingfoul idols on your soil to defile yourself,
4 In sanguine tuo, qui a te effusus est, deliquisti, et in idolis tuis, quæ fecisti, polluta es : et appropinquare fecisti dies tuos, et adduxisti tempus annorum tuorum : propterea dedi te opprobrium gentibus, et irrisionem universis terris.	4 you have incurred guilt by the blood you have shed, you have defiled yourself with the foul idols youhave made, you have shortened your days, you have come to the end of your years. This is why I have madeyou an object of scorn to the nations and a laughing-stock to every country.
5 Quæ juxta sunt, et quæ procul a te, triumphabunt de te, sordida, nobilis, grandis interitu.	5 From far and near they will taunt you with your infamous disorders.
6 Ecce principes Israël singuli in brachio suo fuerunt in te, ad effundendum sanguinem.	6 "Look! In you the princes of Israel, one and all, have furthered their own interests at the cost ofbloodshed;
7 Patrem et matrem contumeliis affecerunt : in te advenam calumniati sunt in medio tui : pupillum et viduam contristaverunt apud te.	7 in you people have despised their fathers and mothers; in you they have il -treated the settler; in youthey have oppressed the widow and orphan.
8 Sanctuaria mea sprevisti, et sabbata mea polluisti.	8 You have treated my sanctuary with contempt, you have profaned my Sabbaths.
9 Viri detractores fuerunt in te ad effundendum sanguinem, et super montes comederunt in te : scelus operati sunt in medio tui.	9 In you informers incite to bloodshed; in you people eat on the mountains and act licentiously;
10 Verecundiora patris discooperuerunt in te ; immunditiam menstruatæ humiliaverunt in te :	10 in you they have sexual intercourse with their fathers; in you they force themselves on women in theirperiods;
11 et unusquisque in uxorem proximi sui operatus est abominationem, et socer nurum suam polluit nefarie : frater sororem suam, filiam patris sui, oppressit in te.	11 in you one man engages in loathsome practices with his neighbour's wife, another lewdly defiles hisdaughter-in-law, another violates his sister, his own father's daughter.
12 Munera acceperunt apud te ad effundendum sanguinem : usuram et superabundantiam accepisti, et avare proximos tuos calumniabaris : meique oblita es, ait Dominus Deus.	12 In you people take bribes for shedding blood; you lend for profit and charge interest, you profit fromyour fel ow by extortion and have forgotten about me -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
13 Ecce complosi manus meas super avaritiam tuam quam fecisti, et super sanguinem qui effusus est in medio tui.	13 "Now I shal clap my hands at your acts of banditry and the blood that flows in you.
14 Numquid sustinebit cor tuum, aut prævalebunt manus tuæ, in diebus quos ego faciam tibi ? Ego Dominus locutus sum, et faciam.	14 Wil your heart be able to resist, will your hands be steady, the day when I cal you to account? I,Yahweh, have spoken and shall act.
15 Et dispergam te in nationes, et ventilabo te in terras, et deficere faciam immunditiam tuam a te.	15 I shal scatter you among the nations and disperse you in foreign countries, and so put an end to thefilthiness now inside you;
16 Et possidebo te in conspectu gentium : et scies quia ego Dominus.	16 through your own fault, you wil be profaned in the eyes of the nations, and you wil know that I amYahweh!" '
17 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :	17 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
18 Fili hominis, versa est mihi domus Israël in scoriam : omnes isti æs, et stannum, et ferrum, et plumbum in medio fornacis : scoria argenti facti sunt.	18 'Son of man, for me, the House of Israel has become dross: copper, tin, iron, lead, al mixed uptogether in the melting-pot; they are dross.
19 Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Eo quod versi estis omnes in scoriam, propterea ecce ego congregabo vos in medio Jerusalem,	19 And so, Lord Yahweh says this, "Since you have al become dross, right! I shall collect you insideJerusalem.
20 congregatione argenti, et æris, et stanni, et ferri, et plumbi, in medio fornacis, ut succendam in ea ignem ad conflandum. Sic congregabo in furore meo, et in ira mea : et requiescam, et conflabo vos.	20 As silver, copper, iron, lead and tin are col ected in the melting-pot, and the fire is blown underneathto melt them down, so I shal collect you in my furious anger and have you melted down;
21 Et congregabo vos, et succendam vos in igne furoris mei, et conflabimini in medio ejus.	21 I shal collect you and blow up the fire of my rage for you and have you melted down inside the city.
22 Ut conflatur argentum in medio fornacis, sic eritis in medio ejus : et scietis quia ego Dominus cum effuderim indignationem meam super vos.	22 As silver is melted in the melting-pot, so you will be melted down inside the city, and you wil knowthat I, Yahweh, have vented my fury on you." '
23 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :	23 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
24 Fili hominis, dic ei : Tu es terra immunda, et non compluta in die furoris.	24 'Son of man, say to her, "You are a land that has not received rain or shower on the day of anger.
25 Conjuratio prophetarum in medio ejus : sicut leo rugiens, rapiensque prædam, animas devoraverunt : opes et pretium acceperunt : viduas ejus multiplicaverunt in medio illius.	25 In you, the princes are like a roaring lion tearing its prey. They have eaten the people, seized wealthand jewels and widowed many inside her.
26 Sacerdotes ejus contempserunt legem meam, et polluerunt sanctuaria mea : inter sanctum et profanum non habuerunt distantiam, et inter pollutum et mundum non intellexerunt : et a sabbatis meis averterunt oculos suos, et coinquinabar in medio eorum.	26 Her priests have violated my law and desecrated my sanctuary; they have made no distinctionbetween sacred and profane, they have not taught people the difference between clean and unclean; they haveturned their eyes away from my Sabbaths and I have been dishonoured by them.
27 Principes ejus in medio illius quasi lupi rapientes prædam ad effundendum sanguinem, et ad perdendas animas, et avare ad sectanda lucra.	27 In her the leaders are wolves tearing their prey, shedding blood and killing people to steal theirpossessions.
28 Prophetæ autem ejus liniebant eos absque temperamento, videntes vana, et divinantes eis mendacium, dicentes : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : cum Dominus non sit locutus.	28 Her prophets have plastered these things over with their empty visions and lying prophecies, saying:Yahweh says this, although Yahweh has not spoken.
29 Populi terræ calumniabantur calumniam, et rapiebant violenter : egenum et pauperem affligebant, et advenam opprimebant calumnia absque judicio.	29 The people of the country have taken to extortion and banditry; they have oppressed the poor andneedy and il -treated the settler in a way that is unjustifiable.
30 Et quæsivi de eis virum qui interponeret sepem, et staret oppositus contra me pro terra, ne dissiparem eam : et non inveni.	30 I have been looking for someone among them to build a barricade and oppose me in the breach, todefend the country and prevent me from destroying it; but I have found no one.
31 Et effudi super eos indignationem meam ; in igne iræ meæ consumpsi eos : viam eorum in caput eorum reddidi, ait Dominus Deus.	31 Hence I have vented my fury on them; I have put an end to them in the fire of my rage. I have madetheir conduct recoil on their own heads -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
