VULGATANEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Fecit autem Beseleel et arcam de lignis setim, habentem duos semis cubitos in longitudine, et cubitum ac semissem in latitudine, altitudo quoque unius cubiti fuit et dimidii : vestivitque eam auro purissimo intus ac foris.1 Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide, and one and a half cubits high.
Et fecit illi coronam auream per gyrum,2 The inside and outside were plated with gold, and a molding of gold was put around it.
conflans quatuor annulos aureos per quatuor angulos ejus : duos annulos in latere uno, et duos in altero.3 Four gold rings were cast and put on its four supports, two rings for one side and two for the opposite side.
Vectes quoque fecit de lignis setim, quos vestivit auro,4 Poles of acacia wood were made and plated with gold;
et quos misit in annulos, qui erant in lateribus arcæ ad portandum eam.5 these were put through the rings on the sides of the ark, for carrying it.
Fecit et propitiatorium, id est, oraculum, de auro mundissimo, duorum cubitorum et dimidii in longitudine, et cubiti ac semis in latitudine.6 The propitiatory was made of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.
Duos etiam cherubim ex auro ductili, quos posuit ex utraque parte propitiatorii :7 Two cherubim of beaten gold were made for the two ends of the propitiatory,
cherub unum in summitate unius partis, et cherub alterum in summitate partis alterius : duos cherubim in singulis summitatibus propitiatorii,8 one cherub fastened at one end, the other at the other end, springing directly from the propitiatory at its two ends.
extendentes alas, et tegentes propitiatorium, seque mutuo et illud respicientes.
The cherubim had their wings spread out above, covering the propitiatory with them. They were turned toward each other, but with their faces looking toward the propitiatory.
Fecit et mensam de lignis setim in longitudine duorum cubitorum, et in latitudine unius cubiti, quæ habebat in altitudine cubitum ac semissem.10 The table was made of acacia wood, two cubits long, one cubit wide, and one and a half cubits high.
Circumdeditque eam auro mundissimo, et fecit illi labium aureum per gyrum,11 It was plated with pure gold, and a molding of gold was put around it.
ipsique labio coronam auream interrasilem quatuor digitorum, et super eamdem, alteram coronam auream.12 A frame a handbreadth high was also put around it, with a molding of gold around the frame.
Fudit et quatuor circulos aureos, quos posuit in quatuor angulis per singulos pedes mensæ13 Four rings of gold were cast for it and fastened, one at each of the four corners.
contra coronam : misitque in eos vectes, ut possit mensa portari.14 The rings were alongside the frame as holders for the poles to carry the table.
Ipsos quoque vectes fecit de lignis setim, et circumdedit eos auro.15 These poles were made of acacia wood and plated with gold.
Et vasa ad diversos usus mensæ, acetabula, phialas, et cyathos, et thuribula, ex auro puro, in quibus offerenda sunt libamina.
The vessels that were set on the table, its plates and cups, as well as its pitchers and bowls for pouring libations, were of pure gold.
Fecit et candelabrum ductile de auro mundissimo, de cujus vecte calami, scyphi, sphærulæque, ac lilia procedebant :17 The lampstand was made of pure beaten gold--its shaft and branches as well as its cups and knobs and petals springing directly from it.
sex in utroque latere, tres calami ex parte una, et tres ex altera :18 Six branches extended from its sides, three branches on one side and three on the other.
tres scyphi in nucis modum per calamos singulos, sphærulæque simul et lilia : et tres scyphi instar nucis in calamo altero, sphærulæque simul et lilia. Æquum erat opus sex calamorum, qui procedebant de stipite candelabri.19 On one branch there were three cups, shaped like almond blossoms, each with its knob and petals; on the opposite branch there were three cups, shaped like almond blossoms, each with its knob and petals; and so for the six branches that extended from the lampstand.
In ipso autem vecte erant quatuor scyphi in nucis modum, sphærulæque per singulos simul et lilia :20 On the shaft there were four cups, shaped like almond blossoms, with their knobs and petals,
et sphærulæ sub duobus calamis per loca tria, qui simul sex fiunt calami procedentes de vecte uno.21 including a knob below each of the three pairs of branches that extended from the lampstand.
Et sphærulæ igitur, et calami ex ipso erant, universa ductilia ex auro purissimo.22 The knobs and branches sprang so directly from it that the whole formed but a single piece of pure beaten gold.
Fecit et lucernas septem cum emunctoriis suis, et vasa ubi ea, quæ emuncta sunt, extinguantur, de auro mundissimo.23 Its seven lamps, as well as its trimming shears and trays, were made of pure gold.
Talentum auri appendebat candelabrum cum omnibus vasis suis.
A talent of pure gold was used for the lampstand and its various appurtenances.
Fecit et altare thymiamatis de lignis setim, per quadrum singulos habens cubitos, et in altitudine duos : e cujus angulis procedebant cornua.25 The altar of incense was made of acacia wood, on a square, a cubit long, a cubit wide, and two cubits high, having horns that sprang directly from it.
Vestivitque illud auro purissimo cum craticula ac parietibus et cornibus.26 Its grate on top, its walls on all four sides, and its horns were plated with pure gold; and a molding of gold was put around it.
Fecitque ei coronam aureolam per gyrum, et duos annulos aureos sub corona per singula latera, ut mittantur in eos vectes, et possit altare portari.27 Underneath the molding gold rings were placed, two on one side and two on the opposite side, as holders for the poles to carry it.
Ipsos autem vectes fecit de lignis setim, et operuit laminis aureis.28 The poles, too, were made of acacia wood and plated with gold.
Composuit et oleum ad sanctificationis unguentum, et thymiama de aromatibus mundissimis opere pigmentarii.29 The sacred anointing oil and the fragrant incense were prepared in their pure form by a perfumer.
