1 - L'anno secondo dell'uscita degli Ebrei dall'Egitto, il primo giorno del secondo mese, il Signore parlò a Mosè nel deserto di Sinai, nel tabernacolo dell'alleanza e disse:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:

49 «Non fare il computo della tribù di Levi, e non annumerare i suoi figli tra gli altri figli d'Israele;	49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,
50 ma affida a loro il tabernacolo della testimonianza con tutta la sua suppellettile, e tutto ciò che si riferisce al culto. Essi porteranno il tabernacolo e tutti i suoi utensili, ne avranno il servizio, e s'accamperanno attorno al tabernacolo.	50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.
51 Quando bisognerà partire, i leviti scomporranno il tabernacolo; quando bisognerà accamparsi, lo rimetteranno su; qualunque estraneo vi s'aggiungesse, sarà messo a morte.	51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.
52 I figli d'Israele rizzeranno le tende, ciascuno secondo la compagnia, il corpo e l'armata a cui appartiene.	52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,
53 Ma i leviti porranno le tende torno a torno al tabernacolo, acciò la mia indignazione non cada sulla moltitudine de' figli d'Israele, e veglieranno a guardia del tabernacolo della testimonianza».	53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'
54 Fecero dunque i figli d'Israele secondo tutto quello che il Signore aveva comandato a Mosè.	54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.
