Isaia 3

1 - Perchè ecco che il Dominatore, il Signore degli eserciti, toglierà da Gerusalemme e da Giuda ogni valido e forte sostegno, ogni sostentamento di pane ed ogni sostentamento di acqua:	1 The Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall take away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and prop (all supplies of bread and water):
2 l'uomo di valore e l'uomo di guerra, il giudice ed il profeta e l'indovino e l'anziano,	2 Hero and warrior, judge and prophet, fortune-teller and elder,
3 il comandante di cinquanta e l'uomo di riguardo e il consigliere, l'esperto nelle arti ed il conoscitore del linguaggio arcano.	3 The captain of fifty and the nobleman, counselor, skilled magician, and expert charmer.
4 E loro darò per principi dei fanciulli, li domineranno gli effeminati.	4 I will make striplings their princes; the fickle shall govern them,
5 E il popolo si scaglierà uno contro l'altro, ogni uomo contro il suo eguale e il giovane infurierà contro il vecchio e il plebeo contro il nobile.	5 And the people shall oppress one another, yes, every man his neighbor. The child shall be bold toward the elder, and the base toward the honorable.
6 Perchè un uomo afferrerà un suo fratello del casato di suo padre: «Un vestito tu ce l'hai, sii nostro governatore, e questa rovina sia sotto la tua mano».	6 When a man seizes his brother in his father's house, saying, "You have clothes! Be our ruler, and take in hand this ruin!"--
7 Ed egli risponderà in quel giorno dicendo: «Non sono io l'uomo dei rimedi, e in casa mia non c'è nè pane, nè vestito; non mi costituite governatore di popolo».	7 Then shall he answer in that day: "I will not undertake to cure this, when in my own house there is no bread or clothing! You shall not make me ruler of the people."
8 Gerusalemme rovina, e Giuda precipita, perchè la loro lingua e i loro intendimenti sono contro il Signore, per inacerbire gli occhi della sua maestà.	8 Jerusalem is crumbling, Judah is falling; for their speech and their deeds are before the LORD, a provocation in the sight of his majesty.
9 L'aspetto della loro faccia risponde contro di essi: come Sodoma hanno proclamato il loro peccato e non l'hanno celato. Guai alle loro anime! perchè i loro mali sono stati ad essi ripagati.	9 Their very look bears witness against them; their sin like Sodom they vaunt, They hide it not. Woe to them! they deal out evil to themselves.
10 Dite al giusto che avrà bene, perchè gusterà il frutto delle sue opere.	10 Happy the just, for it will be well with them, the fruit of their works they will eat.
11 Guai all'empio! avrà male, perchè la retribuzione delle sue mani gli sarà resa.	11 Woe to the wicked man! All goes ill, with the work of his hands he will be repaid.
12 Il mio popolo lo hanno spogliato i suoi tiranni e signoreggiato le donne. O popolo mio, coloro che ti dicono beato sono quelli che ti ingannano e cancellano la via tracciata ai tuoi passi!	12 My people--a babe in arms will be their tyrant, and women will rule them! O my people, your leaders mislead, they destroy the paths you should follow.
13 Il Signore sta in giudizio, sta pronto per giudicare i popoli.	13 The LORD rises to accuse, standing to try his people.
14 Il Signore verrà in giudizio contro gli anziani del suo popolo e contro i suoi principi: «Siete voi che avete depredata la mia vigna, e che le spoglie del povero ritenete nelle vostre case.	14 The Lord enters into judgment with his people's elders and princes: It is you who have devoured the vineyard; the loot wrested from the poor is in your houses.
15 Perchè schiacciate il mio popolo, e pestate la faccia dei poveri?» dice il Signore degli eserciti.	15 What do you mean by crushing my people, and grinding down the poor when they look to you? says the Lord, the GOD of hosts.
16 Il Signore disse: «Giacchè le figlie di Sion si sono inorgoglite e camminarono a collo steso ammiccando cogli occhi, dondolando e tintinnando i piedi, e con portamento artificioso incedevano;	16 The LORD said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with necks outstretched Ogling and mincing as they go, their anklets tinkling with every step,
17 il Signore scalverà la testa alle figlie di Sion, e le denuderà della loro capigliatura».	17 The Lord shall cover the scalps of Zion's daughters with scabs, and the LORD shall bare their heads.
18 In quel giorno il Signore toglierà via lo sfoggio delle calzature, e le lunette,	18 On that day the LORD will do away with the finery of the anklets, sunbursts, and crescents;
19 e le collane, ed i monili, e i braccialetti e le tiare,	19 the pendants, bracelets, and veils;
20 e gli scriminatoi, e le sottane, e le catenelle, e i profumi, e gli orecchini,	20 the headdresses, bangles, cinctures, perfume boxes, and amulets;
21 e gli anelli, e i monili pendenti dalla fronte,	21 the signet rings, and the nose rings;
22 e le sottovesti, e le mantiglie, e gli scialli, e gli spilloni,	22 the court dresses, wraps, cloaks, and purses;
23 e gli specchi, e i veli, e le sciarpe e le vestaglie.	23 the mirrors, linen tunics, turbans, and shawls.
24 E avverrà che invece di profumo vi sarà lezzo; e invece di una cintura, una corda; e invece di acconciatura di capelli, calvizie; e invece di una fascia pettorale, un cilicio.	24 Instead of perfume there will be stench, instead of the girdle, a rope, And for the coiffure, baldness; for the rich gown, a sackcloth skirt. Then, instead of beauty:
25 Ed anche i tuoi più belli uomini periranno di spada e i tuoi valorosi cadranno nella battaglia.	25 Your men will fall by the sword, and your champions, in war;
26 E gemeranno e faranno lutto le sue porte, e sederà per terra sconsolata.	26 Her gates will lament and mourn, as the city sits desolate on the ground.
