1 Continuing in a similar manner, Eliu had this to say:	1 - Proseguendo poi Eliu, disse:
2 Bear with me for a little while and I will show you; for I have still more to say in favor of God.	2 «Aspettami un poco e ti ammaestrerò, giacchè ho ancora altre cose da dire in favor di Dio.
3 I will review my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker to be just.	3 Riprenderò le mie cognizioni da principio, e proverò che il mio creatore è giusto:
4 For truly my words are without any falsehood and perfect knowledge will be proven to you.	4 poichè certamente senza menzogna sono i miei detti, e una scienza perfetta ti piacerà.
5 God does not abandon the powerful, for he himself is also powerful.	5 Dio non rigetta i potenti, essendo egli pure potente;
6 But he does not save the impious, though he grants judgment to the poor.	6 ma gli empii egli non salva, e ai poverelli accorda il diritto:
7 He will not take his eyes away from the just, and he continually establishes kings on their throne, and they are exalted.	7 non distoglie dal giusto gli occhi suoiegli che pone i re sul trono in perpetuo, sì che vengano esaltati.
8 And, if they are in captivity, or are bound with the chains of poverty,	8 Ma se sono avvinti in catene, e astretti dai legami della miseria,
9 he will reveal to them their works, as well as their sinfulness, in that they were violent.	9 allora egli mostra ad essi il loro agire, e i loro delitti, quanto furon crudeli:
10 Likewise, he will open their ears to his correction, and he will speak to them, so that they may return from iniquity.	10 apre ancora il loro orecchio all'ammonizione, ed esorta che si convertano dal male.
11 If they listen and obey, they will fill their days with goodness and complete their years in glory.	11 Se ascoltano e si sottomettono, finiscono i loro giorni nella felicitàe gli anni loro nella gloria;
12 But if they will not listen, they will pass away by the sword and will be consumed by foolishness.	12 se invece non ascoltano, saranno passati a fil di spada, e periranno nella stoltezza.
13 The false and the crafty provoke the wrath of God, yet they do not cry out to him when they are chained.	13 Gl'ipocriti e gli astuti provocano l'ira di Dio, e non innalzano grida quando egli l'incatena;
14 Their soul will die in a storm, and their life, among the unmanly.	14 morirà precocemente l'anima loro, e la loro vita finirà fra gl'impuri.
15 He will rescue the poor from his anguish, and he will open his ear during tribulation.	15 Egli salva il povero dalla sua angustia, e ammonisce il suo orecchio per mezzo della tribolazione.
16 Therefore, he will save you from the narrow mouth very widely, even though it has no foundation under it. Moreover, your respite at table will be full of fatness.	16 Perciò egli ti salverà dalle fauci della distretta; l'ampiezza e non la strettezza sarà il tuo luogo, e riposerai alla tua mensa ricolma di grasse vivande.
17 Your case has been judged like that of the impious; you will withdraw your plea and your judgment.	17 La causa tua è stata giudicata come di empio, e riceverai [su te] la causa e la sentenza.
18 Therefore, do not let anger overwhelm you so that you oppress another; neither should you allow a multitude of gifts to influence you.	18 Non ti vinca dunque l'ira, sì che tu opprima qualcuno, nè i molti donativi ti faccian declinare.
19 Lay down your greatness without distress, and put aside all of your power with courage.	19 Sorge forse il tuo grido senza l'angustia, e senza tutti gli strapazzi della violenza?
20 Do not prolong the night, even if people rise on their behalf.	20 Non potrarre la notte....affinchè ascendano i popoli per essi.
21 Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity; for, after your misery, you have begun to follow this.	21 Bada dal piegare verso l'iniquità, poichè questa tu cominciasti a seguire dopo l'afflizione.
22 Behold, God is exalted in his strength, and there is no one like him among the law-givers.	22 Ecco Dio è eccelso nella sua fortezza, e nessuno è a lui somigliante fra i legislatori.
23 Who is able to investigate his ways? And who can say, “You have done iniquity,” to him?	23 Chi potrà scrutare le sue vie? o chi potrà dirgli: - Hai operato cosa iniqua? -
24 Remember that you are ignorant of his work, yet men have sung its praises.	24 Ricordati di magnificare l'operato di lui, che gli uomini celebrano in canto.
25 All men consider him; and each one ponders from a distance.	25 Tutti gli uomini lo vedono, ciascuno lo scorge da lontano.
26 Behold, God is great, defeating our knowledge; the number of his years is inestimable.	26 Ecco, Dio è grande, vince la nostra scienza, il numero degli anni suoi non si computa.
27 He carries away the drops of rain, and he sends forth showers like a raging whirlpool;	27 Egli distacca le gocce della pioggia, ed effonde le piogge a guisa di torrenti:
28 they flow from the clouds that are woven above everything.	28 le quali profluiscono dalle nubi, che ricoprono ogni cosa al disopra.
29 If he wills it, he extends the clouds as his tent	29 Se egli vuole estendere le nubi, quale suo padiglione,
30 and shines with his light from above; likewise, he covers the oceans within his tent.	30 e far brillare la sua luce al disopra, pur le radici del mare egli ricopre.
31 For he judges the people by these things, and he gives food to a multitude of mortals.	31 Per mezzo di tali cose egli giudica i popoli, e appresta cibo a numerose genti.
32 Within his hands, he hides the light, and he commands it to come forth again.	32 Nelle sue mani egli asconde la luce, e le comanda di tornar di nuovo;
33 He announces it to his friend, for it is his possession and he is able to reach out to it.	33 di lui dà annunzio il suo tuono, [di lui] che effonde l'ira sua sull'iniquità.
