Continuing in a similar manner, Eliu had this to say:1 Prosiguió Elihú y dijo:
Bear with me for a little while and I will show you; for I have still more to say in favor of God.2 Espera un poco, y yo te instruiré, pues todavía hay palabras en favor de Dios.
I will review my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker to be just.3 Voy a llevar muy lejos mi saber, y daré la razón a mi Hacedor.
For truly my words are without any falsehood and perfect knowledge will be proven to you.4 En verdad, no son mentira mis palabras, un maestro en saber está contigo.
God does not abandon the powerful, for he himself is also powerful.5 Dios no rechaza al hombre íntegro,
But he does not save the impious, though he grants judgment to the poor.6 ni deja vivir al malvado en plena fuerza. Hace justicia a los pobres,
He will not take his eyes away from the just, and he continually establishes kings on their throne, and they are exalted.7 y no quita al justo su derecho. El puso a los reyes en el trono, para siempre los asienta, mas se engríen,
And, if they are in captivity, or are bound with the chains of poverty,8 y él los amarra con cadenas, y quedan presos en los lazos de la angustia.
he will reveal to them their works, as well as their sinfulness, in that they were violent.9 Entonces les pone su obra al descubierto y sus culpas nacidas del orgullo.
Likewise, he will open their ears to his correction, and he will speak to them, so that they may return from iniquity.10 A sus oídos pronuncia una advertencia, y manda que se vuelvan de la iniquidad.
If they listen and obey, they will fill their days with goodness and complete their years in glory.11 Si escuchan y son dóciles, acaban sus días en ventura y en delicias sus años.
But if they will not listen, they will pass away by the sword and will be consumed by foolishness.12 Si no escuchan, pasan el Canal, y expiran por falta de cordura.
The false and the crafty provoke the wrath of God, yet they do not cry out to him when they are chained.13 Y los obstinados que imponen la cólera y no piden auxilio cuando él los encadena,
Their soul will die in a storm, and their life, among the unmanly.14 mueren en plena juventud, y su vida en la edad juvenil.
He will rescue the poor from his anguish, and he will open his ear during tribulation.15 El salva al pobre por su misma pobreza, por la miseria el oído le abre.
Therefore, he will save you from the narrow mouth very widely, even though it has no foundation under it. Moreover, your respite at table will be full of fatness.16 También a ti te arrancará de las fauces de la angustia. Antes gozabas de abundancia sin límites, la grasa desbordaba de tu mesa.
Your case has been judged like that of the impious; you will withdraw your plea and your judgment.17 Mas no hacías justicia de los malos, defraudabas el derecho del huérfano.
Therefore, do not let anger overwhelm you so that you oppress another; neither should you allow a multitude of gifts to influence you.18 Procura, pues, que no te seduzca la abundancia, ni el copioso soborno te extravíe.
Lay down your greatness without distress, and put aside all of your power with courage.19 Haz comparecer al rico como al que nada tiene, al débil como al poderoso.
Do not prolong the night, even if people rise on their behalf.20 No aplastes a aquellos que te son extraños, para encumbrar en su puesto a tus parientes.
Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity; for, after your misery, you have begun to follow this.21 Guárdate de inclinarte hacia la iniquidad, que por eso te ha probado la aflicción.
Behold, God is exalted in his strength, and there is no one like him among the law-givers.22 Mira, Dios es sublime por su fuerza, ¿quién es maestro como él?
Who is able to investigate his ways? And who can say, “You have done iniquity,” to him?23 ¿Quién le señaló el camino a seguir? ¿quién le diría: «Has hecho mal»?
Remember that you are ignorant of his work, yet men have sung its praises.24 Acuérdate más bien de ensalzar su obra, que han cantado los hombres.
All men consider him; and each one ponders from a distance.25 Todo hombre la contempla, el hombre la mira desde lejos.
Behold, God is great, defeating our knowledge; the number of his years is inestimable.26 Sí, Dios es grande y no le comprendemos, el número de sus años es incalculable.
He carries away the drops of rain, and he sends forth showers like a raging whirlpool;27 El atrae las gotas de agua, pulveriza la lluvia en su vapor,
they flow from the clouds that are woven above everything.28 que luego derraman las nubes, la destilan sobre la turba humana.
If he wills it, he extends the clouds as his tent29 ¿Quién además comprenderá el despliegue de la nube, los fragores de su tienda?
and shines with his light from above; likewise, he covers the oceans within his tent.30 Ved que despliega su niebla por encima cubre las cimas de los montes.
For he judges the people by these things, and he gives food to a multitude of mortals.31 Pues por ellas sustenta él a los pueblos, les da alimento en abundancia.
Within his hands, he hides the light, and he commands it to come forth again.32 En sus manos el rayo levanta y le ordena que alcance su destino.
He announces it to his friend, for it is his possession and he is able to reach out to it.33 Su trueno le anuncia, la ira se inflama contra la iniquidad.
