Seconda lettera a Timoteo 3

1 Or sappi tu questo, che negli ultimi giorni sorverranno dei tempi pericolosi:	1 And know this: that in the last days perilous times will press near.
2 Imperocché vi saranno degli nemici amanti di loro stessi, avari, vani, superbi, maldicenti, disubbidienti a' genitori, ingrati, scellerati,	2 Men will be lovers of themselves, greedy, self-exalting, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,
3 Senza amore, senza pace, calunniatori, incontinenti, crudeli, senza benignità,	3 without affection, without peace, false accusers, unchaste, cruel, without kindness,
4 Traditori, protervi, gonfi, ed amanti de' piaceri più, che di Dio:	4 traitorous, reckless, self-important, loving pleasure more than God,
5 Ed aventi l'apparenza della pietà della quale però hanno rigettata da se la sostanza. Fuggì anche costoro:	5 even having the appearance of piety while rejecting its virtue. And so, avoid them.
6 Imperocché di questi sono coloro, i quali si intrudono per le case, e schiave si menano delle donnicciuole cariche di peccati, mosse da varie passioni:	6 For among these are ones who penetrate houses and lead away, like captives, foolish women burdened with sins, who are led away by means of various desires,
7 Le quali sempre imparando, non arrivano mai alla scienza della verità.	7 always learning, yet never achieving knowledge of the truth.
8 Ma nella stessa guisa, che Gianne e Mambre resisterono a Mosé: così anche questi resistono alla verità, uomini di guasta mente, reprobi riguardo alla fede,	8 And in the same manner that Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so also will these resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobates from the faith.
9 Ma non anderanno più avanti: conciossiachè si farà manifesta a tutti la loro stoltezza, come fu già di quelli.	9 But they will not advance beyond a certain point. For the folly of the latter shall be made manifest to all, just as that of the former.
10 Ma tu hai seguito d'appresso la mia dottrina, la mia maniera di vivere, le intenzioni, la fede, la longanimità, la scarità, la pazienza,	10 But you have fully comprehended my doctrine, instruction, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
11 Le persecuzioni, i patimenti: quali mi avvennero in Antiochia, in Iconio ed in Listri: le quali persecuzioni io ho sostenute, e da tutte mi ha liberato il Signore.	11 persecutions, afflictions; such things as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; how I endured persecutions, and how the Lord rescued me from everything.
12 E tutti que', che vorranno piamente vivere in Cristo Gesù, patiranno persecuzione.	12 And all those who willingly live the piety in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
13 Ma i mali uomini, e i seduttori anderanno di male in peggio; ingannati ed ingannatori.	13 But evil men and deceivers will advance in evil, erring and sending into error.
14 Ma tu attienti a quello, che hai apparato, ed a quello, che ti è stato affidato: sapendo, da chi tu abbi imparato:	14 Yet truly, you should remain in those things which you have learned and which have been entrusted to you. For you know from whom you have learned them.
15 E che dalla fanciullezza apprendesti le sagre lettere, le quali possono istruirti a salute, mediante la fede, che è in Cristo Gesù.	15 And, from your infancy, you have known the Sacred Scriptures, which are able to instruct you toward salvation, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 Tutta la scrittura divinamente ispirata è utile ad insegnare, ad redarguire, a correggere, a formare alla giustizia:	16 All Scripture, having been divinely inspired, is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in justice,
17 Affinchè perfetto sia l'uomo di Dio, disposto ad ogni opera buona.	17 so that the man of God may be perfect, having been trained for every good work.
