Ezechiele 21

1 Il Signore parlommi, e disse:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 Figljuolo dell'uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso Gerusalemme, e parla a' santuarj, e profetizza contro la terra d'Israele;	2 'Son of man, turn to the right; utter your word towards the south, prophesy against the forest land ofthe Negeb.
3 E dirai alla terra d'Israele: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, che io vengo a te, ed io trarrò la mia spada dal suo fodero, e ucciderò in te il giusto, e l'empio.	3 Say to the forest of Negeb, "Hear the word of Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says this: Listen; I am aboutto kindle a fire in you which wil burn up every green tree in you as wel as every dry one; it wil be anunquenchable blaze and every face wil be scorched by it from the Negeb to the north.
4 E perchè io ho ucciso in te il giusto, e l'empio, per questo trarrò la mia spada dal suo fodero contro tutti gli uomini da mezzodì a settentrione,	4 Al humanity wil see that it was I, Yahweh, who kindled it, and it wil not be extinguished." '
5 Affinchè tutti sappiano, che io il Signore ho tratta dal suo fodero la spada mia, né la rinfodererò.	5 I said, 'Lord Yahweh, they say of me, "He does nothing but speak in riddles!"'
6 Ma tu, figliuolo dell'uomo, trai dal rotto fianco sospiri, e nell'amarezza del cuore, gemi dinanzi a costoro.	6 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
7 E quando a te diranno: Per qual motivo sospiri tu? dirai: Per quel, che ho udito; perchè (colui) viene, e ogni cuore verrà meno, e tutte le braccia saranno spossate, e ogni spirito sarà fiacco, e tutte le ginocchia saran bagnate di sudore: ecco, che viene, e la cosa avverrà, dice il Signore Dio.	7 'Son of man, turn towards Jerusalem, utter your word towards the sanctuary and prophesy against theland of Israel.
8 E il Signore parlommi, dicendo:	8 Say to the land of Israel, "Yahweh says this: Now I am against you; I am about to unsheathe my swordand rid you of the upright and the wicked alike.
9 Profetizza, o figliuolo dell'uomo, e dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Parla: La spada, la spada è tagliente, ed arruotata;	9 Since I am going to rid you of upright and wicked alike, I shal unsheathe my sword against everyonealive, from the Negeb to the north,
10 Ella è tagliente per uccider le vittime, è arruotata, affinchè riluca: tu (spada), che abbatti lo scettro del mio figliuolo, tu troncherai ogni pianta.	10 so that everyone alive wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who has unsheathed my sword; it wil notgo back again."
11 Ed io la ho data ad affilare, perchè sia alla mano: questa spada è tagliente, questa è affilata, affinchè sia in mano dell'uccisore.	11 'Son of man, groan as though your heart were breaking. Utter your bitter groans where they can seeyou.
12 Grida, ed urla, o figliuolo dell'uomo, perchè questa (spada) è fatta pel popol mio, questa per tutti i duci d'Israele, che eran fuggiti: sono stati messi a fil di spada col popol mio, per questo percuoti tu il fianco;	12 And if they say, "Why these groans?" reply, "Because of the news which is about to come, all hearts wil sink, al hands grow weak, all spirits grow faint and al knees turn to water. It is coming now, it is here!-declares Lord Yahweh." '
13 Perocché questa è (spada) provata, provata allor quando ha rovesciato lo scettro di Giuda, che più non sarà, dice il Signore Dio.	13 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
14 Tu adunque, figliuolo dell'uomo, profetizza, e batti mano con mano, e si raddoppi, e si triplichi la spada omicida: questa è la spada del gran macello, che stupidi li renderà,	14 'Son of man, prophesy. Say, "The Lord says this. Say: The sword, the sword has been sharpenedand polished,
15 E farà venir meno il cuore, e moltiplicherà lo scempio. A tutte le loro porte ho portato il terrore della spada tagliente, e arruotata, affinchè risplenda, e sia pronta a fare strage.	15 sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning . . .
16 Aguzzati, o spada, va a destra; ed a sinistra, dovunque a te piaccia di volgerti.	16 He has had it polished to be wielded, this sword sharpened and polished to put in the slaughterer'shand!
17 Anzi io pure applaudirò battendo palma a palma, e sfogherò il mio sdegno; io il Signore ho parlato.	17 Shout and wail, son of man, for it wil come on my people, on all the chief men of Israel doomed likemy people to the sword! So beat your breast,
18 E il Signore parlommi, e disse:	18 for this wil be an ordeal . . . declares the Lord Yahweh.
19 E tu, figliuolo dell'uomo, figurati due strade, per cui venir possa la spada del re di Babilonia: tutte due partiranno da un luogo, ed egli al capo della (doppia) strada colla mano tirerà a sorte una città.	19 So prophesy, son of man, and clap your hands! Let the sword pass three times, that sword forvictims, that sword for a great victim, threatening them from every side!
20 Tu figurerai una strada, per cui la spada arrivi a Rabbatti dei figliuoli degli Ammoniti, e un'altra per arrivare a Giuda, alla fortissima Gerusalemme;	20 To make hearts sink and make sure many fall, I have posted the slaughtering sword at every gate toflash like lightning, polished for slaughter.
21 Imperocché si è fermato al bivio il re di Babilonia, alla testata delle due strade, cercando d'indovinare col rimescolar le frecce: interrogherà gì idoli, fconsulterà le interiora degli animali.	21 Be sharp, on the right, be ready on the left, whichever way your blade is needed!
22 L'indovinamento lo mena a destra contro Gerusalemme, affinchè egli la abbatta cogli arieti, affinchè annunzi uccisione, affinchè alzi la voce con urli, affinchè gli arieti dirizzi contro le porte, e alzi terra, e fabbrichi de' fortini.	22 I too shal clap my hands and sate my fury! I, Yahweh, have spoken." '
23 E negli occhi loro parrà come se quegli indarno consultato avesse l'oracolo, e come se fosse per imitare l'ozio dei sabbati: ma egli si ricorderà dell'ingiustizia per prendere (la città.)	23 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
24 Per questo così dice il Signore Dio: Perchè voi vi siete vantati della vostra iniquità, e avete rendute pubbliche le vostre prevaricazioni, e i peccati vostri si son fatti palesi in tutti i vostri disegni: perchè, dico, vi siete vantati, voi verrete in potere altrui.	24 'Son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to come along, making both ofthem begin from the same country. Then put up a signpost, put it where the road leaves for the city,
25 Ma tu, profano, empio principe d'Israele, per cui è venuto il dì preordinato al gastigo di tua iniquità:	25 trace the route which the sword should take for Rabbah-of-the-Ammonites, and for Judah, to thefortress of Jerusalem.
26 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: e deponi il diadema, levati la corona: ma non è ella questa, che sollevò l'abbietto, ed umiliò il grande?	26 For the king of Babylon has halted at the fork where these two roads diverge, to take the omens. Hehas shaken the arrows, questioned the household gods, inspected the liver.
27 Io farò manifesta l'iniquità, l'iniquità, l'iniquità di lei; e questo non sarà sino a tanto, che venga colui, a cui si appartiene di far giudizio, e a lui io la darò.	27 The lot marked 'Jerusalem' is in his right hand: there to set up battering-rams, give the word forslaughter, raise the war cry, level battering-rams against the gates, cast up earthworks, build entrenchments.
28 Or tu, figliuolo dell'uomo, profetizza, e dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio ai figliuoli di Ammon, e riguardo ai loro insulti. E tu dirai, Spada, spada, sfoderati per uccidere, affilati per uccidere, e folgoreggiare	28 The inhabitants wil believe that these omens are idle, for they have received sworn guarantees, buthe wil bring their guilt to mind and capture them.
29 (Nel tempo, che a te, o Ammon, sono annunziate visioni vane, e bugiardi indovinamene), affinchè tu sii adoprata, e porti ferite sopra i colli degli empi, de' quali è venuto il dì preordinato al gastigo di loro iniquità.	29 And so the Lord Yahweh says this, "Since you have brought your guilt to mind by parading yourmisdeeds and flaunting your sins in everything you do: because you have drawn attention to yourselves, you willbe captured.
30 Rientra nel tuo fodero. Colà dove tu fosti fatta, nella terra dove nascesti, io farò giudizio di te,	30 As for you, impious and wicked prince of Israel, whose doom is approaching to put an end to yourcrimes,
31 E spanderò sopra di te la mia indignazione; accenderò contro di te il fuoco del furor mio, e ti darò in potere di uomini barbari, amanti di strage.	31 the Lord Yahweh says this: They will take away your diadem and remove your crown. Everything wilbe changed; the low wil be raised and the high brought low!
32 Tu sarai cibo del fuoco, il tuo sangue sarà negletto in mezzo alla terra, e tu sarai posto in dimenticanza; perch'io il Signore ho parlato.	32 Ruin, ruin, I shal bring such ruin as never was before, until the rightful ruler comes, on whom I shalbestow it."
	33 'Son of man, prophesy and say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: In reply to the Ammonites and theirjeers, say: The sword, the sword is drawn for slaughter, polished to devour, to flash like lightning-
	34 while you have empty visions and consult lying omens-to cut the throats of the wicked, whose doomis approaching to put an end to their crimes.
	35 Put it back in the scabbard. The place where you were created, the land of your origin, wil be where Ijudge you.
	36 I shal vent my fury on you, breathe the fire of my rage against you and hand you over to barbarousmen whose trade is destruction.
	37 You wil be fuel for the fire, your blood wil flow through the country, you wil leave no memory behindyou; for I, Yahweh, have spoken!" '
