1 Venticinque anni avea Joatham quando cominciò a regnare; e se dici anni regnò in Gerusalemme: sua madre ebbe nome Jerusa figliuola di Sadoc.	1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Jerusa, daughter of Zadok.
2 Ed egli fece quello, che era giusto dinanzi al Signore, imitando in tutto Ozia suo padre, eccetto che egli non entrò nel tempio del Signore: ma il popolo peccava tutt'ora.	2 He pleased the LORD just as his father Uzziah had done, though he did not enter the temple of the LORD; the people, however, continued to act sinfully.
3 Egli edificò l'altissima porta della casa del Signore, e molte cose fece sulle mura di Ophel.	3 He built the upper gate of the LORD'S house and had much construction done on the wall of Ophel.
4 Edifico parimente delle città sui monti di Giuda, e delle castella, e delle torri ne' boschi.	4 Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forest land he set up fortresses and towers.
5 Egli fece guerra al re degli Ammoniti, e li vinse, e gli Ammoniti allora gli diedero cento talenti di argento, e dieci mila cori di grano, e altrettanti di orzo: queste cose le diedero a lui gli Ammoniti l'anno secondo, e il terzo.	5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him one hundred talents of silver, together with ten thousand kors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. They brought the same to him also in the second and in the third year.
6 E Joatham diventò potente, perchè egli avea regolate le sue vie sul volere del Signore Dio suo.	6 Thus Jotham continued to grow strong because he lived resolutely in the presence of the LORD, his God.
7 Il rimanente poi delle azioni di Joatham, e tutte le sue battaglie, e le imprese sono scritte nel libro dei re di Israele, e di Giuda.	7 The rest of the acts of Jotham, his wars and his activities, can be found written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
8 Egli avea venticinque anni quando principiò a regnare; e sedici anni regnò in Gerusalemme.	8 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
9 Indi Joatham si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto nella città di David: e gli succedette nel regno Achaz suo figliuolo.	9 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, and his son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
