DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW JERUSALEM
Unto the end, for them that shall he changed, a testimony for Asaph, a psalm.1 [For the choirmaster Tune: 'The decrees are lilies' Of Asaph Psalm] Shepherd of Israel, listen, you wholead Joseph like a flock, enthroned on the winged creatures, shine forth
Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel: thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Thou that sittest upon the cherubims, shine forth2 over Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh; rouse your valour and come to our help.
before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasses. Stir up thy might, and come to save us.3 God, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.
Convert us, O God: and shew us thy face, and we shall be saved.4 Yahweh, God Sabaoth, how long wil you flare up at your people's prayer?
O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant?5 You have made tears their food, redoubled tears their drink.
How long wilt thou feed us with the bread of tears: and give us for our drink tears in measure?6 You let our neighbours quarrel over us, our enemies mock us.
Thou hast made us to be a contradiction to our neighbours: and our enemies have scoffed at us.7 God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.
O God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved.8 You brought a vine out of Egypt, to plant it you drove out nations;
Thou hast brought a vineyard out of Egypt: thou hast cast cut the Gentiles and planted it.9 you cleared a space for it, it took root and fil ed the whole country.
Thou wast the guide of its journey in its sight: thou plantedst the roots thereof, and it filled the land.10 The mountains were covered with its shade, and the cedars of God with its branches,
The shadow of it covered the hills: and the branches thereof the cedars of God.11 its boughs stretched as far as the sea, its shoots as far as the River.
It stretched forth its branches unto the sea, and its boughs unto the river.12 Why have you broken down its fences? Every passer-by plucks its grapes,
Why hast thou broken down the hedge thereof, so that all they who pass by the way do pluck it?13 boars from the forest tear at it, wild beasts feed on it.
The boar out of the wood hath laid it waste: and a singular wild beast hath devoured it.14 God Sabaoth, come back, we pray, look down from heaven and see, visit this vine;
Turn again, O God of hosts, look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard:15 protect what your own hand has planted.
And perfect the same which thy right hand hath planted: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself.16 They have thrown it on the fire like dung, the frown of your rebuke wil destroy them.
Things set on fire and dug down shall perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.17 May your hand protect those at your side, the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself!
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself.18 Never again wil we turn away from you, give us life and we will cal upon your name.
And we depart not from thee, thou shalt quicken us: and we will call upon thy name.19 God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shal be safe.
O Lord God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved.
