DOUAI-RHEIMSKING JAMES BIBLE
For David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul: O Lord my God, thou art exceedingly great. Thou hast put on praise and beauty:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
and art clothed with light as with a garment. Who stretchest out the heaven like a pavilion:2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
who coverest the higher rooms thereof with water. Who makest the clouds thy chariot: who walkest upon the wings of the winds.3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
Who makest thy angels spirits: and thy ministers a burning fire.4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Who hast founded the earth upon its own bases: it shall not be moved for ever and ever.5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
The deep like a garment is its clothing: above the mountains shall the waters stand.6 Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
At thy rebuke they shall flee: at the voice of thy thunder they shall fear.7 At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
The mountains ascend, and the plains descend into the place which thou hast founded for them.8 They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
Thou hast set a bound which they shall not pass over; neither shall they return to cover the earth.9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
Thou sendest forth springs in the vales: between the midst of the hills the waters shall pass.10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
All the beasts of the field shall drink: the wild asses shall expect in their thirst.11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
Over them the birds of the air shall dwell: from the midst of the rocks they shall give forth their voices.12 By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
Thou waterest the hills from thy upper rooms: the earth shall be filled with the fruit of thy works:13 He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
Bringing forth grass for cattle, and herb for the service of men. That thou mayst bring bread out of the earth:14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
and that wine may cheer the heart of man. That he may make the face cheerful with oil: and that bread may strengthen man's heart.15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.
The trees of the field shall be filled, and the cedars of Libanus which he hath planted:16 The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
there the sparrows shall make their nests. The highest of them is the house of the heron.17 Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
The high hills are a refuge for the harts, the rock for the irchins.18 The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
He hath made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.19 He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
Thou hast appointed darkness, and it is night: in it shall all the beasts of the woods go about:20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
The young lions roaring after their prey, and seeking their meat from God.21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
The sun ariseth, and they are gathered together: and they shall lie down in their dens.22 The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
Man shall go forth to his work, and to his labour until the evening.23 Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
How great are thy works, O Lord? thou hast made all things in wisdom: the earth is filled with thy riches.24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
So is this great sea, which stretcheth wide its arms: there are creeping things without number: Creatures little and great.25 So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
There the ships shall go. This sea dragon which thou hast formed to play therein.26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
All expect of thee that thou give them food in season.27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
What thou givest to them they shall gather up: when thou openest thy hand, they shall all be filled with good.28 That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
But if thou turnest away thy face, they shall be troubled: thou shalt take away their breath, and they shall fail, and shall return to their dust.29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
Thou shalt send forth thy spirit, and they shall be created: and thou shalt renew the face of the earth.30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
May the glory of the Lord endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.31 The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
He looketh upon the earth, and maketh it tremble: he toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.33 I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
Let my speech be acceptable to him: but I will take delight in the Lord.34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and the unjust, so that they be no more: O my soul, bless thou the Lord.35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
