1 Il figliuol savio ascolta l’ammaestramento di suo padre; Ma lo schernitore non ascolta riprensione	1 A wise son loves correction, but the senseless one heeds no rebuke.
2 L’uomo mangerà del bene del frutto delle sue labbra; Ma l’anima degli scellerati mangerà del frutto di violenza	2 From the fruit of his words a man eats good things, but the treacherous one craves violence.
3 Chi guarda la sua bocca preserva l’anima sua; Ma ruina avverrà a chi apre disordinatamente le sue labbra	3 He who guards his mouth protects his life; to open wide one's lips brings downfall.
4 L’anima del pigro appetisce, e non ha nulla; Ma l’anima de’ diligenti sarà ingrassata	4 The soul of the sluggard craves in vain, but the diligent soul is amply satisfied.
5 Il giusto odia la parola bugiarda; Ma l’empio si rende puzzolente ed infame	5 Anything deceitful the just man hates, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace.
6 La giustizia guarda colui che è intiero di via; Ma l’empietà sovverte il peccatore	6 Virtue guards one who walks honestly, but the downfall of the wicked is sin.
7 Vi è tale che si fa ricco, e non ha nulla; Tale altresì che si fa povero, ed ha di gran facoltà	7 One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8 Le ricchezze dell’uomo sono il riscatto della sua vita; Ma il povero non ode alcuna minaccia	8 A man's riches serve as ransom for his life, but the poor man heeds no rebuke.
9 La luce de’ giusti sarà lieta; Ma la lampana degli empi sarà spenta	9 The light of the just shines gaily, but the lamp of the wicked goes out.
10 Per orgoglio non si produce altro che contese; Ma la sapienza è con quelli che si consigliano	10 The stupid man sows discord by his insolence, but with those who take counsel is wisdom.
11 Le ricchezze procedenti da vanità scemeranno; Ma chi raduna con la mano le accrescerà	11 Wealth quickly gotten dwindles away, but amassed little by little, it grows.
12 La speranza prolungata fa languire il cuore; Ma il desiderio adempiuto è un albero di vita	12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a wish fulfilled is a tree of life.
13 Chi sprezza la parola andrà in perdizione; Ma chi riverisce il comandamento riceverà retribuzione	13 He who despises the word must pay for it, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded.
14 L’insegnamento di un savio è una fonte di vita, Per ritrarsi da’ lacci della morte	14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that a man may avoid the snares of death.
15 Buon senno reca grazia; Ma il procedere de’ perfidi è duro	15 Good sense brings favor, but the way of the faithless is their ruin.
16 L’uomo avveduto fa ogni cosa con conoscimento; Ma il pazzo spande follia	16 The shrewd man does everything with prudence, but the fool peddles folly.
17 Il messo malvagio caderà in male; Ma l’ambasciator fedele reca sanità	17 A wicked messenger brings on disaster, but a trustworthy envoy is a healing remedy.
18 Povertà ed ignominia avverranno a chi schifa la correzione; Ma chi osserva la riprensione sarà onorato	18 Poverty and shame befall the man who disregards correction, but he who heeds reproof is honored.
19 Il desiderio adempiuto è cosa soave all’anima; Ed agli stolti è cosa abbominevole lo stornarsi dal male	19 Lust indulged starves the soul, but fools hate to turn from evil.
20 Chi va co’ savi diventerà savio; Ma il compagno degli stolti diventerà malvagio	20 Walk with wise men and you will become wise, but the companion of fools will fare badly.
21 Il male perseguita i peccatori; Ma Iddio renderà il bene a’ giusti	21 Misfortune pursues sinners, but the just shall be recompensed with good.
22 L’uomo da bene lascerà la sua eredità a’ figliuoli de’ figliuoli; Ma le facoltà del peccatore son riserbate al giusto	22 The good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the just.
23 Il campo lavorato de’ poveri produce abbondanza di cibo; Ma vi è tale che è consumato per mancamento di buon governo	23 A lawsuit devours the tillage of the poor, but some men perish for lack of a law court.
24 Chi risparmia la sua verga odia il suo figliuolo; Ma chi l’ama gli procura correzione per tempo	24 He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him takes care to chastise him.
25 Il giusto mangerà a sazietà dell’anima sua; Ma il ventre degli empi avrà mancamento	25 When the just man eats, his hunger is appeased; but the belly of the wicked suffers want.
