DOUAI-RHEIMS	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Job also added, taking up his parable, and said:	1 Job continuó pronunciando su poema, y dijo:
2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment, and the Almighty, who hath brought my soul to bitterness,	2 ¡Por el Dios viviente, que me priva de mi derecho, y por el Todopoderoso, que me llenó de amargura;
3 As long as breath remaineth in me, and the spirit of God in my nostrils,	3 mientras haya en mí un aliento de vida y el soplo de Dios esté en mis narices,
4 My lips shall not speak iniquity, neither shall my tongue contrive lying.	4 mis labios no dirán nada falso ni mi lengua pronunciará una mentira!
5 God forbid that I should judge you to be just: till I die I will not depart from my innocence.	5 ¡Lejos de mí darles la razón a ustedes: hasta que expire, no renunciaré a mi integridad!
6 My justification, which I have begun to hold, I will not forsake: for my heart doth not reprehend me in all my life.	6 Me aferré a mi justicia, y no la soltaré mi corazón no se avergüenza de ninguno de mis días.
7 Let my enemy be as the ungodly, and my adversary as the wicked one.	7 ¡Que mi enemigo tenga la suerte del malvado, y mi adversario, la del hombre injusto!
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite if through covetousness he take by violence, and God deliver not his soul?	8 Porque ¿qué puede esperar el impío, aunque suplique, aunque eleve su alma a Dios?
9 Will God hear his cry, when distress shall come upon him?	9 ¿Acaso Dios escuchará su grito cuando le sobrevenga la calamidad?
10 Or can he delight himself in the Almighty, and call upon God at all times?	10 ¿Se deleita él en el Todopoderoso e invoca a Dios en todo tiempo?
11 I will teach you by the hand of God, what the Almighty hath, and I will not conceal it.	11 Yo los instruyo sobre la conducta de Dios, no oculto las intenciones del Todopoderoso, ¿por qué se pierden en pensamientos vanos?
12 Behold you all know it, and why do you speak vain things without cause?	12 Si todos ustedes ya lo han comprobado, ¿por qué se pierden en pensamientos vanos?
13 This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the inheritance of the violent, which they shall receive of the Almighty.	13 Esta es la parte que Dios asigna al malvado y la herencia que los violentos reciben del Todopoderoso.
14 If his sons be multiplied, they shall be for the sword, and his grandsons shall not be filled with bread.	14 Si tienen muchos hijos, la espada los espera, y sus vástagos no se saciarán de pan.
15 They that shall remain of him, shall be buried in death, and his widows shall not weep.	15 A los que sobrevivan, los sepultará la Muerte, y sus viudas no llorarán.
16 If he shall heap together silver as earth, and prepare raiment as clay,	16 Si él acumula plata como polvo y amontona ropa fina como arcilla,
17 He shall prepare indeed, but the just man shall be clothed with it: and the innocent shall divide the silver.	17 ¡que siga amontonando!: un justo se vestirá con ella y un inocente heredará la plata.
18 He hath built his house as a moth, and as a keeper he hath made a booth.	18 Se edificó una casa como la araña, como la choza que hace un guardián.
19 The rich man when he shall sleep shall take away nothing with him: he shall open his eyes and find nothing.	19 Se acuesta rico, pero es por última vez: abre los ojos, y no queda nada.
20 Poverty like water shall take hold on him, a tempest shall oppress him in the night.	20 En pleno día lo asaltan los terrores y por la noche lo arrebata un torbellino.
21 A burning wind shall take him up, and carry him away, and as a whirlwind shall snatch him from his place.	21 El viento del este lo levanta y se lo lleva, lo barre del lugar donde habita.
22 And he shall cast upon him, and shall not spare: out of his hand he would willingly flee.	22 Se lo hostiga sin compasión y tiene que huir de la mano que lo hiere.
23 He shall clasp his hands upon him, and shall hiss at him, beholding his place.	23 La gente aplaude por su ruina y se lo silba por todas partes.
