| 2 E apparve trasfigurato davanti a loro: la sua faccia diventò splendida come il sole e le vesti candide come la luce. | 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light. |
| 3 Ed ecco, apparvero loro Mosè ed Elia in atto di conversare con lui. | 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. |
| 4 Allora Pietro prese la parola e disse: "Signore, è bello per noi stare qui; se vuoi, farò qui tre tende, una per te, una per Mosè e un'altra per Elia". | 4 And Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." |
| 5 Mentre egli stava ancora parlando, una nube splendente li avvolse. E dalla nube si udì una voce che diceva: "Questi è il mio Figlio diletto nel quale ho posto la mia compiacenza: ascoltatelo". | 5 He was still speaking, when lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." |
| 6 All'udir ciò, i discepoli caddero faccia a terra, presi da grande spavento. | 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces, and were filled with awe. |
| 7 Ma Gesù si avvicinò, li toccò e disse: "Alzatevi; non temete!". | 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and have no fear." |
| 8 Essi, alzati gli occhi, non videro nessun altro all'infuori di Gesù. | 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. |
| 9 Ora, mentre discendevano dal monte, Gesù ordinò loro: "Non fate parola con nessuno della visione, finché il Figlio dell'uomo non sarà risorto da morte". | 9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, "Tell no one the vision, until the Son of man is raised from the dead." |
| 10 Allora i suoi discepoli lo interrogarono dicendo: "Perché dunque gli scribi dicono che prima deve venire Elia?". | 10 And the disciples asked him, "Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?" |
| 11 Egli rispose: "Elia, sì, deve venire e restaurerà ogni cosa. | 11 He replied, "Elijah does come, and he is to restore all things; |
| 12 Ma io vi dico che Elia è già venuto e non l'hanno riconosciuto; anzi l'hanno trattato come hanno voluto. Così anche il Figlio dell'uomo dovrà soffrire per opera loro". | 12 but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of man will suffer at their hands." |
| 13 Allora i discepoli capirono che egli intendeva parlare di Giovanni il Battista. | 13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist. |
| 14 Quando furono tornati presso la folla, si avvicinò a lui un uomo che, gettatosi in ginocchio davanti a lui, | 14 And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and kneeling before him said, |
| 15 disse: "Signore, abbi pietà di mio figlio che è epilettico e soffre; molte volte infatti cade nel fuoco, altre volte anche nell'acqua. | 15 "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. |
| 16 L'ho portato ai tuoi discepoli, ma essi non sono stati capaci di guarirlo". | 16 And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him." |
| 17 Rispose Gesù: "Generazione incredula e perversa, fino a quando dovrò restare con voi? Fino a quando dovrò sopportarvi? Portatemi qui il fanciullo". | 17 And Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me." |
| 18 Allora Gesù con parole minacciose comandò al demonio di uscire da lui; da quell'istante il fanciullo fu guarito. | 18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. |
| 19 Allora i discepoli si avvicinarono a Gesù in disparte e gli domandarono: "Perché noi non siamo stati capaci di scacciarlo?". | 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" |
| 20 Egli rispose: "A causa della vostra poca fede, poiché in verità vi dico: se avrete fede anche quanto un chicco di senapa e direte a questo monte: "Spòstati da qui a lì", esso si sposterà; nulla sarà a voi impossibile. | 20 He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." |
| 21 Ma questa genìa non si scaccia se non con la preghiera e il digiuno". | 21 . |
| 22 Mentre si aggiravano per la Galilea, Gesù disse loro: "Il Figlio dell'uomo sta per essere consegnato nelle mani degli uomini | 22 As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men, |
| 23 che lo metteranno a morte; ma il terzo giorno risorgerà". Essi furono presi da grande afflizione. | 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day." And they were greatly distressed. |
| 24 Venuti a Cafarnao, quelli che riscuotevano il didramma si rivolsero a Pietro e gli dissero: "Il vostro maestro non paga il didramma?". | 24 When they came to Caperna-um, the collectors of the half-shekel tax went up to Peter and said, "Does not your teacher pay the tax?" |
| 25 Ed egli: "Sì". Quando tornò, Gesù lo prevenne dicendo: "Che te ne pare, Simone? I re della terra da chi riscuotono tasse e tributi, dai loro figli oppure dagli estranei?". | 25 He said, "Yes." And when he came home, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute? From their sons or from others?" |
| 26 Ed egli: "Dagli estranei". Allora Gesù disse: "Perciò i figli ne sono esenti. | 26 And when he said, "From others," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are free. |
| 27 Ma per non scandalizzarli, va' al mare, getta l'amo e prendi il pesce che per primo abboccherà; aprigli la bocca e vi troverai uno statere. Lo prenderai e lo darai loro per me e per te". | 27 However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel; take that and give it to them for me and for yourself." |
