| 3 Perché siamo considerati come bestie e passiamo per degli idioti ai tuoi occhi? | 3 Why are we counted as cattle? Why are we stupid in your sight? |
| 4 Tu che ti rodi nella tua rabbia, forse che a causa tua la terra sarà abbandonata, o che la roccia si staccherà dal suo posto? | 4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be forsaken for you, or the rock be removed out of its place? |
| 5 Sì, la luce del malvagio si spegne e la fiamma del suo focolare non brilla più. | 5 "Yea, the light of the wicked is put out, and the flame of his fire does not shine. |
| 6 Si oscura la luce nella sua tenda e la lucerna si estingue sopra di lui. | 6 The light is dark in his tent, and his lamp above him is put out. |
| 7 I suoi passi vigorosi si accorciano, i suoi progetti lo fanno stramazzare. | 7 His strong steps are shortened and his own schemes throw him down. |
| 8 Infatti, con i suoi piedi incappa nella rete e cammina sopra un tranello. | 8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walks on a pitfall. |
| 9 Un laccio lo afferra per il tallone, un nodo lo stringe intorno. | 9 A trap seizes him by the heel, a snare lays hold of him. |
| 10 Gli è nascosta per terra una fune e una trappola sul sentiero. | 10 A rope is hid for him in the ground, a trap for him in the path. |
| 11 Da ogni parte lo atterriscono gli spaventi e gli si mettono alle calcagna. | 11 Terrors frighten him on every side, and chase him at his heels. |
| 12 La sua ricchezza si muta in fame e la sfortuna gli si mette a fianco. | 12 His strength is hunger-bitten, and calamity is ready for his stumbling. |
| 13 La sua pelle è corrosa dalla malattia; il primogenito della Morte gli consuma le membra. | 13 By disease his skin is consumed, the first-born of death consumes his limbs. |
| 14 E' strappato dalla sua tenda dove si sentiva sicuro, per essere trascinato dal Re dei terrori. | 14 He is torn from the tent in which he trusted, and is brought to the king of terrors. |
| 15 Il fuoco è posto nella sua tenda; nella sua dimora si sparge lo zolfo. | 15 In his tent dwells that which is none of his; brimstone is scattered upon his habitation. |
| 16 In basso le sue radici si seccheranno; sopra saranno tagliati i suoi rami. | 16 His roots dry up beneath, and his branches wither above. |
| 17 Il suo ricordo è sparito dalla terra e il suo nome non si udrà più nella contrada. | 17 His memory perishes from the earth, and he has no name in the street. |
| 18 Lo cacceranno dalla luce alle tenebre e lo bandiranno dall'universo. | 18 He is thrust from light into darkness, and driven out of the world. |
| 19 Non avrà né figli né discendenza tra il suo popolo; non vi sarà superstite nella sua dimora. | 19 He has no offspring or descendant among his people, and no survivor where he used to live. |
| 20 Della sua fine stupirà l'Occidente e l'Oriente sarà preso dal brivido. | 20 They of the west are appalled at his day, and horror seizes them of the east. |
| 21 Ecco qual è la sorte dell'empio; tale è il destino di chi misconosce Dio". | 21 Surely such are the dwellings of the ungodly, such is the place of him who knows not God." |
