1 Nell'anno decimottavo del re Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt, divenne re di Giuda Abiam.	1 Now in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.
2 Egli regnò tre anni a Gerusalemme; sua madre si chiamava Maaca, figlia di Assalonne.	2 He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
3 Egli imitò tutti i peccati che suo padre aveva commesso prima di lui e il suo cuore non fu tutto per il Signore suo Dio, come il cuore di Davide suo antenato.	3 And he walked in all the sins which his father did before him; and his heart was not wholly true to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
4 Tuttavia, in considerazione di Davide, il Signore suo Dio gli concesse una lampada in Gerusalemme, suscitando i suoi figli dopo di lui e conservando Gerusalemme.	4 Nevertheless for David's sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem;
5 Davide infatti aveva fatto ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore e, per tutto il tempo della sua vita, non s'era mai discostato da ciò che gli aveva comandato il Signore.	5 because David did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
6 -	6 Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
7 Le altre gesta di Abiam e tutte le sue azioni non sono forse descritte nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda?	7 The rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8 Poi Abiam s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu sepolto nella città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò Asa, suo figlio.	8 And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned in his stead.

10 Egli regnò quarantun anni a Gerusalemme; sua madre si chiamava Maaca, figlia di Assalonne.	10 and he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
11 Asa fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore, come Davide suo antenato.	11 And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as David his father had done.
12 Eliminò dal paese i prostituti sacri e rimosse tutti gl'idoli fatti dai suoi antenati.	12 He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13 Privò perfino sua madre Maaca del titolo di Grande Signora, perché aveva costruito un idolo per Asera. Asa distrusse questo obbrobrio e lo bruciò nella valle del Cedron.	13 He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had an abominable image made for Asherah; and Asa cut down her image and burned it at the brook Kidron.
14 Le alture però non vennero rimosse; tuttavia il cuore di Asa fu tutto del Signore durante l'intera sua vita.	14 But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was wholly true to the LORD all his days.
15 Fece portare nel tempio del Signore le offerte votive di suo padre e le proprie: argento, oro e vasi.	15 And he brought into the house of the LORD the votive gifts of his father and his own votive gifts, silver, and gold, and vessels.
16 Ci fu guerra fra Asa e Baasa, re d'Israele, durante tutta la loro vita.	16 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
17 Baasa, re d'Israele, salì contro Giuda ed edificò Rama per impedire che si andasse e si venisse da Asa, re di Giuda.	17 Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might permit no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
18 Allora Asa prese tutto l'argento e l'oro ch'era rimasto nei tesori del tempio e i tesori del palazzo reale e li consegnò ai suoi servi, ch'egli mandò da Ben-Adàd, figlio di Tab-Rimmòn, figlio di Chezion, re di Aram, che abitava a Damasco per dirgli:	18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's house, and gave them into the hands of his servants; and King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezi-on, king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,
19 "Ci sia un'alleanza fra me e te come ci fu tra mio padre e tuo padre. Ecco, ti invio in dono argento e oro. Tu rompi la tua alleanza con Baasa, re d'Israele, affinché egli s'allontani da me".	19 "Let there be a league between me and you, as between my father and your father: behold, I am sending to you a present of silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me."
20 Ben-Adàd diede ascolto al re Asa e inviò i capi del suo esercito contro le città d'Israele; devastò Iion, Dan, Abel-Bet-Maaca, tutta la regione di Genezaret fino all'intera regione di Neftali.	20 And Ben-hadad hearkened to King Asa, and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
21 Appena Baasa lo seppe, cessò di costruire Rama e ritornò a Tirza.	21 And when Baasha heard of it, he stopped building Ramah, and he dwelt in Tirzah.
22 Allora il re Asa convocò tutti quelli di Giuda, nessuno escluso, i quali portarono via da Rama le pietre e il legname che Baasa usava per la costruzione e con essi il re Asa fortificò Gheba di Beniamino e Mizpà.	22 Then King Asa made a proclamation to all Judah, none was exempt, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber, with which Baasha had been building; and with them King Asa built Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.
23 Le altre gesta di Asa, tutto il suo valore, tutte le sue azioni e le città ch'egli costruì non sono forse descritte nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda? Però nella sua vecchiaia soffrì di male ai piedi.	23 Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? But in his old age he was diseased in his feet.
24 Asa s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu seppellito con i suoi antenati nella città di Davide suo padre. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Giosafat.	24 And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.
25 Nadàb, figlio di Geroboamo, divenne re d'Israele nel secondo anno di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò due anni su Israele.	25 Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.
26 Egli fece il male agli occhi del Signore; imitò la condotta di suo padre e il peccato che questi aveva fatto commettere ad Israele.	26 He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin which he made Israel to sin.
27 Baasa, figlio di Achia, della casa di Issacar, congiurò contro di lui e lo assassinò presso Ghibbeton, che apparteneva ai Filistei, mentre Nadàb e tutti gli Israeliti assediavano Ghibbeton.	27 Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
28 Baasa lo uccise nell'anno terzo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò al suo posto.	28 So Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.
29 Appena fu re, massacrò tutta la casa di Geroboamo senza risparmiare anima viva, fino alla sua intera distruzione, secondo la parola che il Signore aveva detto per mezzo del suo servo Achia di Silo,	29 And as soon as he was king, he killed all the house of Jeroboam; he left to the house of Jeroboam not one that breathed, until he had destroyed it, according to the word of the LORD which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite;
30 a causa dei peccati di Geroboamo ch'egli commise e che fece commettere ad Israele e a causa dello sdegno che aveva provocato nel Signore Dio d'Israele.	30 it was for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned and which he made Israel to sin, and because of the anger to which he provoked the LORD, the God of Israel.

	32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
33 Nell'anno terzo di Asa, re di Giuda, Baasa, figlio di Achia, divenne re su tutto Israele e regnò in Tirza per ventiquattro anni.	33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah began to reign over all Israel at Tirzah, and reigned twenty-four years.
34 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore e imitò la condotta di Geroboamo e il peccato che questi aveva fatto commettere a Israele.	34 He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin which he made Israel to sin.
