1 Dying flies ruin the sweetness of the ointment. Wisdom and glory is more precious than a brief and limited foolishness.	1 Μυιαι αποθνησκουσαι καμνουσι το μυρον του μυρεψου να βρωμα, να αναβραζη? και μικρα αφροσυνη ατιμαζει τον εν υποληψει επι σοφια και τιμη.
2 The heart of a wise man is in his right hand, and the heart of a foolish man is in his left hand.	2 Η καρδια του σοφου ειναι εν τη δεξια αυτου? η δε καρδια του αφρονος εν τη αριστερα αυτου.
3 Moreover, as a foolish man is walking along the way, even though he himself is unwise, he considers everyone to be foolish.	3 Και ετι οταν ο αφρων περιπατη εν τη οδω, λειπει συνεσις αυτου και αναγγελλει προς παντας οτι ειναι αφρων.
4 If the spirit of one who holds authority rises over you, do not leave your place, because attentiveness will cause the greatest sins to cease.	4 Εαν το πνευμα του ηγεμονος εγερθη εναντιον σου, μη αφησης τον τοπον σου? διοτι η γλυκυτης καταπαυει αμαρτιας μεγαλας.
5 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, proceeding from the presence of a prince, as if by mistake:	5 Ειναι κακον το οποιον ειδον υπο τον ηλιον, λαθος, λεγω, προερχομενον απο του εξουσιαστου?
6 a foolish man appointed to a high dignity, and the rich sitting beneath him.	6 οτι ο αφρων βαλλεται εις μεγαλας αξιας, οι δε πλουσιοι καθηνται εν ταπεινω τοπω.
7 I have seen servants on horses, and princes walking on the ground like servants.	7 Ειδον δουλους εφ' ιππων και αρχοντας περιπατουντας ως δουλους επι της γης.
8 Whoever digs a pit will fall into it. And whoever tears apart a hedge, a snake will bite him.	8 Οστις σκαπτει λακκον, θελει πεσει εις αυτον? και οστις χαλα φραγμον, οφις θελει δαγκασει αυτον.
9 Whoever carries away stones will be harmed by them. And whoever cuts down trees will be wounded by them.	9 Ο μετακινων λιθους θελει βλαφθη υπ' αυτων? ο σχιζων ξυλα θελει κινδυνευσει εν αυτοις.
10 If the iron is dull, and if it was not that way before, but has been made dull by much labor, then it will be sharpened. And wisdom will follow after diligence.	10 Εαν ο σιδηρος αμβλυνθη και δεν ακονιση τις την κοψιν αυτου, πρεπει να προσθεση δυναμιν? η σοφια δε ειναι ωφελιμος προς διευθυνσιν.
11 Whoever slanders in secret is nothing less than a snake that bites silently.	11 Εαν ο οφις δαγκανη χωρις συριγμου, πλην και ο συκοφαντης καλητερος δεν ειναι.
12 Words from the mouth of a wise man are graceful, but the lips of a foolish man will throw him down with violence.	12 Οι λογοι του στοματος του σοφου ειναι χαρις? τα δε χειλη του αφρονος θελουσι καταπιει αυτον.
13 At the beginning of his words is foolishness, and at the end of his talk is a most grievous error.	13 Η αρχη των λογων του στοματος αυτου ειναι αφροσυνη? και το τελος της ομιλιας αυτου κακη μωρια.
14 The fool multiplies his words. A man does not know what has been before him, and who is able to reveal to him what will be in the future after him?	14 Ο αφρων προσετι πληθυνει λογους, ενω ο ανθρωπος δεν εξευρει τι μελλει γενεσθαι? και τις δυναται να απαγγειλη προς αυτον τι θελει εισθαι μετ' αυτον;
15 The hardship of the foolish will afflict those who do not know to go into the city.	15 Ο μοχθος των αφρονων απαυδιζει αυτους, επειδη δεν εξευρουσι να υπαγωσιν εις την πολιν.
16 Woe to you, the land whose king is a boy, and whose princes consume in the morning.	16 Ουαι εις σε, γη, της οποιας ο βασιλευς ειναι νεος, και οι αρχοντες σου τρωγουσι το πρωι
17 Blessed is the land whose king is noble, and whose princes eat at the proper time, for refreshment and not for self-indulgence.	17 Μακαρια συ, γη, της οποιας ο βασιλευς ειναι υιος ευγενων, και οι αρχοντες σου τρωγουσιν εν καιρω προς ενισχυσιν και ουχι προς μεθην
18 By laziness, a framework shall be brought down, and by the weakness of hands, a house shall collapse through.	18 Δια την πολλην οκνηριαν πιπτει η στεγασις? και δια την αργιαν των χειρων σταλαζει η οικια.
19 While laughing, they make bread and wine, so that the living may feast. And all things are obedient to money.	19 Δι' ευθυμιαν καμνουσι συμποσια, και ο οινος ευφραινει τους ζωντας? το δε αργυριον αποκρινεται εις παντα.
20 You should not slander the king, even in your thoughts, and you should not speak evil of a wealthy man, even in your private chamber. For even the birds of the air will carry your voice, and whatever has wings will announce your opinion.	20 Μη καταρασθης τον βασιλεα μηδε εν τη διανοια σου? και μη καταρασθης τον πλουσιον εν τω ταμειω του κοιτωνος σου? διοτι πτηνον του ουρανου θελει φερει την φωνην, και το εχον τας πτερυγας θελει αναγγειλει το πραγμα.
