Psalms 103

1 To David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are exceedingly great. You have clothed yourself with confession and beauty;	1 (Di David). Anima mia, benedici il Signore. Signore Dio mio, tu sei oltremodo grande! Ti sei rivestito di gloria e di splendore,
2 you are dressed with light like a garment, while you stretch out heaven like a tent.	2 Ti sei coperto di luce come di un manto. Tu stendi il cielo come un padiglione,
3 You cover its heights with water. You set the clouds as your stairs. You walk upon the wings of the winds.	3 E ne copri colle acque la parte superiore. Tu fai delle nubi il tuo cocchio, e cammini sulle ali dei venti.
4 You make your Angels a breath of life, and your ministers a burning fire.	4 Fai tuoi angeli gli spiriti, e tuoi ministri le fiamme di fuoco.
5 You founded the earth upon its stable base. It will not be bent from age to age.	5 Tu hai stabilita sulle sue basi la terra, non piegherà nei secoli dei secoli.
6 The abyss, like a garment, is its clothing. The waters will remain standing above the mountains.	6 L'abisso delle acque la ricopriva come un vestito, le acque s'innalzavano sopra i monti.
7 At your rebuke, they will flee. At the voice of your thunder, they will dread.	7 Alla tua minaccia fuggirono, atterrite al tuono della tua voce.
8 The mountains ascend, and the plains descend, to the place which you have founded for them.	8 Emersero le montagne, si abbassaron le valli, nel luogo che tu avevi loro assegnato.
9 You have set a limit that they will not cross. And they will not return to cover the earth.	9 Fissasti loro un termine che non passeranno mai, e non torneranno a coprire la terra.
10 You spring forth fountains in steep valleys. The waters will cross through the midst of the mountains.	10 Tu fai scaturire le fontane nelle valli, le acque scorrono in mezzo ai monti.
11 All the wild beasts of the field will drink. The wild donkeys will anticipate in their thirst.	11 Ne bevono tutte le bestie dei campi, gli onagri le sospirano quando han sete.
12 Above them, the flying things of the air will dwell. From the midst of the rocks, they will utter voices.	12 Presso di esse dimorano gli uccelli dell'aria, di mezzo alle rocce fan sentire il loro canto.
13 You irrigate the mountains from your heights. The earth will be satiated from the fruit of your works,	13 Dall'alta tua dimora tu innaffi i monti, del frutto del tuo lavorò si sazia la terra.
14 producing grass for cattle and herbs for the service of men. So may you draw bread from the earth,	14 Tu fai crescere il fieno pei giumenti e gli erbaggi a servizio dell'uomo. Tu fai che venga fuori dalla terra il pane,
15 and wine, in order to cheer the heart of man. Then he may gladden his face with oil, and bread will confirm the heart of man.	15 E che il vino rallegri il cuore dell'uomo; che l'olio ne renda ilare la faccia, e il pane sostenti il cuore dell'uomo.
16 The trees of the field will be saturated, along with the cedars of Lebanon, which he planted.	16 Si saziano le piante della campagna, i cedri del Libano da lui piantati.
17 There, the sparrows will make their nests. The leader of them is the house of the heron.	17 Là fanno il nido i passeri; più su è il nido della cicogna;
18 The heights of the hills are for the deer; the rock is a refuge for the hedgehog.	18 Gli alti monti servono ai cervi, la roccia serve di rifugio ai ricci.
19 He has made the moon for seasons; the sun knows its setting.	19 Egli fece la luna per distinguere i tempi, il sole e seppe l'ora del suo tramonto.
20 You appointed darkness, and it has become night; all the beasts of the forest will cross through it.	20 Tu stendi le tenebre e viene la notte: in essa sbucan fuori tutte le bestie dalla selva.
21 The young lions will roar, while searching for and seizing their meal from God.	21 I leoncelli si mettono a ruggire in cerca di preda, per chiedere a Dio il loro pasto.
22 The sun arose, and they were gathered together; and in their dens, they will lie down together.	22 Appena sorto il sole, si ritirano a branchi, per sdraiarsi nelle loro tane.
23 Man will go forth to his work and to his activities, until the evening.	23 Allora esce l'uomo alle sue faccende, al suo lavoro fino alla sera.
24 How great are your works, O Lord! You have made all things in wisdom. The earth has been filled with your possessions.	24 Quanto son grandiose le tue opere, o Signore! Tutto hai fatto con sapienza; la terra è piena dei tuoi beni!
25 This sea is great and its hands are spacious. There are creeping things without number: the small animals with the great.	25 Ecco il gran mare dalle immense braccia, ove son rettili innumerabili, animali piccoli e grandi:
26 There, the ships will pass by this sea-serpent that you have formed to mock them.	26 Là passano le navi e il dragone che tu hai formato perchè scherzasse nell'acqua.
27 All these expect you to give them food in due time.	27 Tutti aspettano da te che tu dia loro a suo tempo il cibo;
28 What you give to them, they will gather. When you open your hand, they will all be filled with goodness.	28 E quando tu lo dài, lo raccolgono, quando tu apri la tua mano, tutte le cose son ricolme di bene.
29 But if you turn your face away, they will be disturbed. You will take away their breath, and they will fail, and they will return to their dust.	29 Ma quando tu rivolgi altrove la faccia, si turbano; se togli loro lo spirito, vengono meno e ritornano nella loro polvere.
30 You will send forth your Spirit, and they will be created. And you will renew the face of the earth.	30 Manderai il tuo spirito e saran create, e rinnovellerai la faccia della terra.
31 May the glory of the Lord be for all ages. The Lord will rejoice in his works.	31 La gloria del Signore duri in eterno, e si allieti il Signore nelle sue opere:
32 He considers the earth, and he makes it tremble. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.	32 Egli che mira la terra e la fa tremare, tocca i monti e fumano.
33 I will sing to the Lord with my life. I will sing psalms to my God, as long as I am.	33 Canterò al Signore finché duri la mia vita, inneggerò al mio Dio finché avrò respiro.
34 May my speech be pleasing to him. Truly, I will take delight in the Lord.	34 Possano a lui essere gradite le mie parole! In quanto a me, porrò la mia delizia nel Signore.
35 Let sinners fade away from the earth, along with the unjust, so that they may not be. Bless the Lord, O my soul.	35 Spariscan dalla terra i peccatori e i malvagi, in modo che non ce ne resti uno. Anima mia, benedici il Signore.
