Psalms 103

1 To David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are exceedingly great. You have clothed yourself with confession and beauty;	1 - Di David. Benedici, anima mia, il Signore! Signore mio Dio, grande tu sei sovranamente; di gloria e di splendore ti sei rivestito.
2 you are dressed with light like a garment, while you stretch out heaven like a tent.	2 Tu che ti ravvolgi nella luce come in un manto, che stendi il cielo come un padiglione;
3 You cover its heights with water. You set the clouds as your stairs. You walk upon the wings of the winds.	3 che sulle acque fabbrichi la cima di tua casa, che fai delle nuvole il tuo cocchio, che cammini sulle ali de' vènti;
4 You make your Angels a breath of life, and your ministers a burning fire.	4 che fai tuoi messaggeri i vèntie tuoi servi il fuoco e la fiamma!
5 You founded the earth upon its stable base. It will not be bent from age to age.	5 Che hai stabilito la terra sulle sue fondamenta, [sì che] mai non crolli nè secoli.
6 The abyss, like a garment, is its clothing. The waters will remain standing above the mountains.	6 L'oceano quasi veste la ricopriva [una volta], sulle montagne stavan le acque.
7 At your rebuke, they will flee. At the voice of your thunder, they will dread.	7 Alla tua minaccia fuggirono, alla voce del tuo trono paventarono [e si ritrassero].
8 The mountains ascend, and the plains descend, to the place which you have founded for them.	8 Emersero i monti e s'abbassaron le valligiù al posto stabilito per loro.
9 You have set a limit that they will not cross. And they will not return to cover the earth.	9 Un limite segnasti [alle acque], che non oltrepasseranno, nè torneranno a ricoprir la terra.
10 You spring forth fountains in steep valleys. The waters will cross through the midst of the mountains.	10 Tu che fai sgorgar le fonti [giù] nelle valli: attraverso alle montagne scorron via le acque.
11 All the wild beasts of the field will drink. The wild donkeys will anticipate in their thirst.	11 [Ne] bevon tutte le bestie de' campi, [ad esse] sospiran gli onagri nella sete loro.
12 Above them, the flying things of the air will dwell. From the midst of the rocks, they will utter voices.	12 Presso di quelle gli uccelli nidificano, di tra le pietre gorgheggiano.
13 You irrigate the mountains from your heights. The earth will be satiated from the fruit of your works,	13 Tu che irrighi i monti dalla cima di tua casa: del frutto delle tue opere si sazia la terra.
14 producing grass for cattle and herbs for the service of men. So may you draw bread from the earth,	14 Tu che produci il fieno per le bestie e gli erbaggi a servizio degli uomini; perchè traggano il pane dalla terra
15 and wine, in order to cheer the heart of man. Then he may gladden his face with oil, and bread will confirm the heart of man.	15 e il vino rallegri il cuor dell'uomo; perchè egli esilari il volto con olioe il pane sostenti il cuor dell'uomo.
16 The trees of the field will be saturated, along with the cedars of Lebanon, which he planted.	16 Si sazian gli alberi del campoe i cedri del Libano, ch'egli ha piantato.
17 There, the sparrows will make their nests. The leader of them is the house of the heron.	17 Là gli uccelli fanno il nido, la cicogna ne' cipressi ha la sua casa:
18 The heights of the hills are for the deer; the rock is a refuge for the hedgehog.	18 le alte montagne [son] per i cervi, la roccia [è] rifugio agli scoiattoli.
19 He has made the moon for seasons; the sun knows its setting.	19 E' fece la luna per [segnare] i tempi : il sole conosce l'[ora del] suo tramonto.
20 You appointed darkness, and it has become night; all the beasts of the forest will cross through it.	20 Distendi le tenebre e si fa notte, in essa sbucan fuori tutte le bestie della selva.
21 The young lions will roar, while searching for and seizing their meal from God.	21 I leoncelli ruggiscono in cerca di predae per chiedere a Dio il pasto loro.
22 The sun arose, and they were gathered together; and in their dens, they will lie down together.	22 [Ma] sorge il sole e si ritiranoe nelle lor tane s'accovacciano.
23 Man will go forth to his work and to his activities, until the evening.	23 [Ed] esce [allora] l'uomo per le sue faccende e per il suo lavoro fino a sera.
24 How great are your works, O Lord! You have made all things in wisdom. The earth has been filled with your possessions.	24 Quanto magnifiche son le tue opere, o Signore!tutto hai tu fatto con sapienza. Piena è la terra di tua ricchezza:
25 This sea is great and its hands are spacious. There are creeping things without number: the small animals with the great.	25 ecco là il mare grande, vasto, immenso.
26 There, the ships will pass by this sea-serpent that you have formed to mock them.	26 Ivi bestie senza numero, animali piccoli e grandi: ivi corron le navi, [e] il mostro che tu hai creato per scherzar con esso.
27 All these expect you to give them food in due time.	27 Tutti gli esseri aspettan da teche tu dia loro il cibo a suo tempo.
28 What you give to them, they will gather. When you open your hand, they will all be filled with goodness.	28 Quando lo dai loro, [lo] raccolgono: quando apri la tua mano, si sazian tutti del [desiato] bene.
29 But if you turn your face away, they will be disturbed. You will take away their breath, and they will fail, and they will return to their dust.	29 Ma se tu volgi altrove la tua faccia, si conturbano: togli tu ad essi il fiato, e vengon menoe alla lor polvere ritornano.
30 You will send forth your Spirit, and they will be created. And you will renew the face of the earth.	30 Mandi [invece] il tuo spirito, e son creati, e rinnovelli la faccia della terra.
31 May the glory of the Lord be for all ages. The Lord will rejoice in his works.	31 Sia la gloria del Signore in eterno, s'allieti il Signore nelle opere sue.
32 He considers the earth, and he makes it tremble. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.	32 Egli che guarda la terra e la fa tremare, che tocca i monti e fumano!
33 I will sing to the Lord with my life. I will sing psalms to my God, as long as I am.	33 Canterò al Signore per [tutta] la vita mia, inneggerò al mio Dio finch'io esisto.
34 May my speech be pleasing to him. Truly, I will take delight in the Lord.	34 Gradito sia a lui il mio canto: io certo mi diletterò nel Signore.
35 Let sinners fade away from the earth, along with the unjust, so that they may not be. Bless the Lord, O my soul.	35 Spariscano i peccatori dalla terrae i malvagi, sì che più non esistano. Benedici, anima mia, il Signore! [Alleluia!]
