| 1 E Mosè, e i seniori d’Israele ordinarono, e dissero al popolo: Custodite tutti i precetti che io oggi vi annunzio. | 1 Now Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, "Keep all the commandment which I command you this day. |
| 2 E allorché passato il Giordano sarete entrati nella terra che darà a te il Signore Dio tuo, tu alzerai delle pietre grandi, e le intonacherai con calcina, | 2 And on the day you pass over the Jordan to the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall set up large stones, and plaster them with plaster; |
| 3 Affinché tu possa scrivervi sopra tutte le parole di questa legge, passato che avrai il Giordano per entrare nella terra che sarà data a te dal Signore Dio tuo; terra, che scorre latte, e miele, com'ei giurò a' padri tuoi. | 3 and you shall write upon them all the words of this law, when you pass over to enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you. |
| 4 Quando adunque voi avrete passato il Giordano, alzate le pietre ch'io oggi vi dico, sul monte Hebal, e intonacatele colla calcina: | 4 And when you have passed over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, concerning which I command you this day, on Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. |
| 5 E ivi edificherai un altare al Signore Dio tuo di pietre non tocche da ferro, | 5 And there you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones; you shall lift up no iron tool upon them. |
| 6 Di pietre informi, e non lavorate: e sopra di esso offerirai olocausti al Signore Dio tuo, | 6 You shall build an altar to the LORD your God of unhewn stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God; |
| 7 E immolerai ostie pacifiche, e ivi ne mangerai dinanzi al Signore Dio tuo. | 7 and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God. |
| 8 E sopra le pietre scriverai tutte e parole di questa legge chiaramente, e distintamente. | 8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly." |
| 9 E Mosè, e i sacerdoti della stirpe di Levi dissero a tutto Israele: Pon mente, o Israele, e ascolta: oggi tu sei diventato il popolo del Signore Dio tuo: | 9 And Moses and the Levitical priests said to all Israel, "Keep silence and hear, O Israel: this day you have become the people of the LORD your God. |
| 10 Tu ascolterai la sua voce, e osserverai i comandamenti, e le leggi, che io ti annunzio. | 10 You shall therefore obey the voice of the LORD your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day." |
| 11 E Mosè in quel giorno comandò, e disse al popolo: | 11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying, |
| 12 Passato che avrete il Giordano, questi staranno sul monte Garizim per benedire il popolo: Simeone, Levi, Giuda, Issachar, Joseph, e Beniamin. | 12 "When you have passed over the Jordan, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. |
| 13 E questi altri staran dirimpetto per dare maledizione sul monte Hebal: Ruben, Gad, e Aser, e Zabulon, Dan, e Nephtali. | 13 And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. |
| 14 E i Leviti intuoneranno, e diranno a tutti gli uomini d'Israele a voce sonora: | 14 And the Levites shall declare to all the men of Israel with a loud voice: |
| 15 Maledetto l’uomo, che fa simulacro di scultura, e di getto, opera di mano di artefici (cosa abbominata dal Signore), e lo ripone in luogo nascosto: E tutto il popolo risponderà: Così sia. | 15 "'Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, a thing made by the hands of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' And all the people shall answer and say, 'Amen.' |
| 16 Maledetto chi non onora il padre suo, e la madre: e tutto il popolo dirà: Così sia. | 16 "'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 17 Maledetto chi tramuta i termini del suo vicino: e tutto il popolo dirà: Così sia. | 17 "'Cursed be he who removes his neighbor's landmark.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 18 Maledetto chi ha fatto sì, che il cieco smarrisca la strada: e tutto il popolo dirà: Così sia. | 18 "'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on the road.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 19 Maledetto chi disfavorisce la ragione del forestiero, del pupillo, e della vedova: e tutto il popolo dirà: Così sia. | 19 "'Cursed be he who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 20 Maledetto chi disonora la moglie del padre suo, e scuopre la coperta del suo talamo: e tutto il popol dirà: Così sia. | 20 "'Cursed be he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered her who is his father's. ' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 21 Maledetto chi pecca con qualsisia animale: e tutto il popolo risponderà: Così sia. | 21 "'Cursed be he who lies with any kind of beast.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 22 Maledetto chi disonora la propria sorella, figliuola del padre suo, o della sua madre: e tutto il popol dirà: Così sia. | 22 "'Cursed be he who lies with his sister, whether the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 23 Maledetto chi disonora la sua suocera: e tutto il popol dirà: Così sia. | 23 "'Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 24 Maledetto chi fa morir di nascosto il suo prossimo: e tutto il popol dirà: Così sia. | 24 "'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 25 Maledetto chi riceve de' doni per ispargere il sangue d'un innocente: e dirà tutto il popolo: Così sia. | 25 "'Cursed be he who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 26 Maledetto chi non sta fermo alle parole di questa legge, e non le adempie coll’opere: e tutto il popol dirà: Così sia. | 26 "'Cursed be he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
