KING JAMES BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Have mercy upon us, O Lord God of all, and behold us:1 Have mercy upon us, O God of all, and behold us, and shew us the light of thy mercies:
And send thy fear upon all the nations that seek not after thee.2 And send thy fear upon the nations, that have not sought after thee: that they may know that there is no God beside thee, and that they may shew forth thy wonders.
Lift up thy hand against the strange nations, and let them see thy power.3 Lift up thy hand over the strange nations, that they may see thy power.
As thou wast sanctified in us before them: so be thou magnified among them before us.4 For as thou hast been sanctified in us in their sight, so thou shalt be magnified among them in our presence,
And let them know thee, as we have known thee, that there is no God but only thou, O God.5 That they may know thee, as we also have known thee, that there is no God beside thee, O Lord.
Shew new signs, and make other strange wonders: glorify thy hand and thy right arm, that they may set forth thy wondrous works.6 Renew thy signs, and work new miracles.
Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath: take away the adversary, and destroy the enemy.7 Glorify thy hand, and thy right arm.
Sake the time short, remember the covenant, and let them declare thy wonderful works.8 Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath.
Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire; and let them perish that oppress the people.9 Take away the adversary, and crush the enemy.
Smite in sunder the heads of the rulers of the heathen, that say, There is none other but we.10 Hasten the time, and remember the end, that they may declare thy wonderful works.
Gather all the tribes of Jacob together, and inherit thou them, as from the beginning.11 ,11Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire: and let them perish that oppress thy people.
O Lord, have mercy upon the people that is called by thy name, and upon Israel, whom thou hast named thy firstborn.12 Crush the head of the princes of the enemies that say: There is no other beside us.
O be merciful unto Jerusalem, thy holy city, the place of thy rest.13 Gather together all the tribes of Jacob: that they may know that there is no God besides thee, and may declare thy great works: and thou shalt inherit them as from the beginning.
Fill Sion with thine unspeakable oracles, and thy people with thy glory:14 Have mercy on thy people, upon whom thy name is invoked: and upon Israel, m whom thou hast raised up to be thy firstborn.
Give testimony unto those that thou hast possessed from the beginning, and raise up prophets that have been in thy name.15 Have mercy on Jerusalem, the city which thou hast sanctified, the city of thy rest.
Reward them that wait for thee, and let thy prophets be found faithful.16 Fill Sion with thy unspeakable words, and thy people with thy glory.
O Lord, hear the prayer of thy servants, according to the blessing of Aaron over thy people, that all they which dwell upon the earth may know that thou art the Lord, the eternal God.17 Give testimony to them that are thy creatures from the beginning, and raise up the prophecies which the former prophets spoke in thy name.
The belly devoureth all meats, yet is one meat better than another.18 Reward them that patiently wait for thee, that thy prophets may be found faithful: and hear the prayers of thy servants,
As the palate tasteth divers kinds of venison: so doth an heart of understanding false speeches.19 According to the blessing of Aaron over thy people, and direct us into the way of justice, and let all know that dwell upon the earth, that thou art God the beholder of all ages.
A froward heart causeth heaviness: but a man of experience will recompense him.20 The belly will devour all meat, yet one is better than another.
A woman will receive every man, yet is one daughter better than another.21 ,21The palate tasteth venison and the wise heart false speeches.
The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance, and a man loveth nothing better.22 A perverse heart will cause grief, and a man of experience will resist it.
If there be kindness, meekness, and comfort, in her tongue, then is not her husband like other men.23 A woman will receive every man: yet one daughter is better than another.
He that getteth a wife beginneth a possession, a help like unto himself, and a pillar of rest.24 The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance of her husband, and a man desireth nothing more.
Where no hedge is, there the possession is spoiled: and he that hath no wife will wander up and down mourning.25 If she have a tongue that can cure, and likewise mitigate and shew mercy: her husband is not like other men.
Who will trust a thief well appointed, that skippeth from city to city? so [who will believe] a man that hath no house, and lodgeth wheresoever the night taketh him?26 He that possesseth a good wife, beginneth a possession: she is a help like to himself, and a pillar of rest.
[]27 Where there is no hedge, the possession shall be spoiled: and where there is no wife, he mourneth that is in want.
[]28 Who will trust him that hath no rest, and that lodgeth wheresoever the night taketh him, as a robber well appointed, that skippeth from city to city.
