Job 26

1 But Job answered and said,	1 Allora Giobbe rispose e disse:
2 How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?	2 « A chi tu porti aiuto? Forse ad un debole?
3 How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?	3 Forse sostieni il braccio di un impotente? A chi dài consiglio? Forse a chi non ha sapienza? Hai mostrata la tua moltissima prudenza.
4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?	4 A chi vorresti insegnare? Forse a colui che ha fatto il soffio (della vita)?
5 Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.	5 Ecco gemono sotto le acque i giganti, e quelli che abitano con essi.
6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.	6 Dinanzi a lui l'inferno è nudo, e l'abisso non ha alcun velo.
7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.	7 Egli distende il settentrione sul vuoto, e sospende la terra sul nulla.
8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.	8 Rinchiude le acque nelle sue nuvole, affinchè non precipitino tutte insieme al basso;
9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.	9 vela la faccia del suo trono, e spande sopra di esso le sue nubi.
10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.	10 Tracciò un cerchio di confini sopra le acque, sino a tanto che non abbiano fine la luce e le tenebre.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.	11 Le colonne del cielo tremano, spaventate al suo cenno;
12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.	12 colla sua potenza in un attimo riunì i mari, e la sua sapienza percosse il superbo.
13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.	13 Lo spirito di lui ornò i cieli, e l'abilità della sua mano produsse il tortuoso serpente.
14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?	14 Ecco, questo non è che una parte delle sue opere, non avendo noi sentita che una piccola stilla della sua parola. Chi potrà reggere al trono della sua grandezza? »
