The inscription of a title to David himself. Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put trust in thee. | 1 Oratio David. Exaudi, Domine, justitiam meam ; intende deprecationem meam. Auribus percipe orationem meam, non in labiis dolosis. |
I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods. | 2 De vultu tuo judicium meum prodeat ; oculi tui videant æquitates. |
To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them. | 3 Probasti cor meum, et visitasti nocte ; igne me examinasti, et non est inventa in me iniquitas. |
Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips. | 4 Ut non loquatur os meum opera hominum : propter verba labiorum tuorum, ego custodivi vias duras. |
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me. | 5 Perfice gressus meos in semitis tuis, ut non moveantur vestigia mea. |
The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me. | 6 Ego clamavi, quoniam exaudisti me, Deus ; inclina aurem tuam mihi, et exaudi verba mea. |
I will bless the Lord, who hath given me understanding: moreover my reins also have corrected me even till night. | 7 Mirifica misericordias tuas, qui salvos facis sperantes in te. |
I set the Lord always in my sight: for he is at my right hand, that I be not moved. | 8 A resistentibus dexteræ tuæ custodi me ut pupillam oculi. Sub umbra alarum tuarum protege me |
Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope. | 9 a facie impiorum qui me afflixerunt. Inimici mei animam meam circumdederunt ; |
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt then give thy holy one to see corruption. | 10 adipem suum concluserunt : os eorum locutum est superbiam. |
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end. | 11 Projicientes me nunc circumdederunt me ; oculos suos statuerunt declinare in terram. |
Susceperunt me sicut leo paratus ad prædam, et sicut catulus leonis habitans in abditis.
