Psalms 16

1 The inscription of a title to David himself. Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put trust in thee.	1 Inno. Di Davide. Custodiscimi, o Dio: in te mi rifugio.
2 I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods.	2 Ho detto al Signore: "Il mio Signore sei tu, al di sopra di te non ho alcun bene".
3 To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.	3 Per i santi che sono sulla terra sta tutto il suo zelo; Egli rende mirabile in essi tutto il suo favore.
4 Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.	4 Moltiplicano i loro affanni quanti si affrettano verso un dio straniero. Io non verserò le loro libagioni di sangue, né i loro nomi porterò sulle mie labbra.
5 The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me.	5 Signore, sorte della mia eredità e mia coppa, tu tieni saldo nelle tue mani il mio destino;
6 The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me.	6 le corde sono cadute per me in terreno ubertoso, la mia eredità mi piace davvero!
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me understanding: moreover my reins also have corrected me even till night.	7 Benedirò il Signore che mi ha dato consiglio, anche di notte mi ammoniscono i miei reni.
8 I set the Lord always in my sight: for he is at my right hand, that I be not moved.	8 Il Signore sta sempre dinanzi ai miei occhi: se sta alla mia destra, non vacillerò.
9 Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.	9 Per questo è lieto il mio cuore e gioisce il mio intimo, perfino la mia carne riposa al sicuro.
10 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt then give thy holy one to see corruption.	10 Sì, non consegnerai la mia anima in preda agli inferi, non permetterai al tuo fedele di scendere nella tomba.
11 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.	11 Mi farai conoscere la via della vita: gioia in abbondanza alla tua presenza, delizia alla tua destra senza fine.
