Sirach 39

1 But he that giveth his mind to the law of the most High, and is occupied in the meditation thereof, will seek out the wisdom of all the ancient, and be occupied in prophecies.	1 Il savio ricercherae la sapienza di tutti li antichi, e istudierae nelli profeti.
2 He will keep the sayings of the renowned men: and where subtil parables are, he will be there also.	2 Conserverae li detti delli famosi uomini, ed entrerae insiememente nelle sagacitadi delle parole.
3 He will seek out the secrets of grave sentences, and be conversant in dark parables.	3 Ricercherae li occulti delli proverbii, e converserae nelli secreti delle parabole.
4 He shall serve among great men, and appear before princes: he will travel through strange countries; for he hath tried the good and the evil among men.	4 Amministrerae tra' grandi uomini, e apparirae nel conspetto de' rettori.
5 He will give his heart to resort early to the Lord that made him, and will pray before the most High, and will open his mouth in prayer, and make supplication for his sins.	5 Passerae nella terra delle strane genti; tenterae li mali e li beni nelli uomini.
6 When the great Lord will, he shall be filled with the spirit of understanding: he shall pour out wise sentences, and give thanks unto the Lord in his prayer.	6 Il cuore suo darae a vegliare per tempo al Signore che il fece; nel conspetto dello Altissimo pregherae.
7 He shall direct his counsel and knowledge, and in his secrets shall he meditate.	7 Aprirà la bocca sua nella orazione, e per li peccati suoi pregherae.
8 He shall shew forth that which he hath learned, and shall glory in the law of the covenant of the Lord.	8 Se l'alto Dio vorrà, riempierà lui di spirito d' intelligenza.
9 Many shall commend his understanding; and so long as the world endureth, it shall not be blotted out; his memorial shall not depart away, and his name shall live from generation to generation.	9 Egli, sì come piova, gitterae dolci parlari della sua sapienza, e nella orazione si confesserae al Signore.
10 Nations shall shew forth his wisdom, and the congregation shall declare his praise.	10 Egli lo dirizzerae nel consiglio suo e nella disciplina; e nelli secreti suoi il consigliarae.
11 If he die, he shall leave a greater name than a thousand: and if he live, he shall increase it.	11 Farae manifestare la disciplina della sua dottrina, e gloriarassi nella legge del testamento del Signore.
12 Yet have I more to say, which I have thought upon; for I am filled as the moon at the full.	12 Molti loderanno la sapienza sua; infino nel secolo non si cancellerae (il suo senno).
13 Hearken unto me, ye holy children, and bud forth as a rose growing by the brook of the field:	13 E nen si partirae la memoria di lui; il nome suo fia richiesto di generazione in generazione.
14 And give ye a sweet savour as frankincense, and flourish as a lily, send forth a smell, and sing a song of praise, bless the Lord in all his works.	14 Le genti parleranno della sapienza sua, e la chiesa dirae la lode di colui.
15 Magnify his name, and shew forth his praise with the songs of your lips, and with harps, and in praising him ye shall say after this manner:	15 S'elli basterà, il nome suo lascieranne più di mille; e riposerassi, e gioveragli.
16 All the works of the Lord are exceeding good, and whatsoever he commandeth shall be accomplished in due season.	16 Ancora consiglieroe, acciò che io parli; però che sì come di furore sono pieno.
17 And none may say, What is this? wherefore is that? for at time convenient they shall all be sought out: at his commandment the waters stood as an heap, and at the words of his mouth the receptacles of waters.	17 Nelle voci dico: udite me, divini frutti, e fruttificate sì come rosa piantata sopra li rivi dell' acqua.
18 At his commandment is done whatsoever pleaseth him; and none can hinder, when he will save.	18 E fruttificate odore, sì come Libano.
19 The works of all flesh are before him, and nothing can be hid from his eyes.	19 Fiorite fiori, sì come giglio; date odore e fate frondi in grazia, e conlaudate in cantico, e benedite Iddio nell' opere sue.
20 He seeth from everlasting to everlasting; and there is nothing wonderful before him.	20 Date al nome suo magnificenza, e confessatevi a lui nella voce delle labbra vostre nelle citare; e direte così nella confessione vostra :
21 A man need not to say, What is this? wherefore is that? for he hath made all things for their uses.	21 L'opere del Signore sono tutte buone.
22 His blessing covered the dry land as a river, and watered it as a flood.	22 Nella parola sua stette l'acqua sì come uno muro, e nel sermone dalla sua bocca sì come li ricevimenti delle acque.
23 As he hath turned the waters into saltness: so shall the heathen inherit his wrath.	23 Però che [nel] li suoi comandamenti egli è pacificatore, e non è scemamento nella salute sua.
24 As his ways are plain unto the holy; so are they stumblingblocks unto the wicked.	24 L'opera d' ogni uomo è dinanzi da lui; nulla cosa è nascosa dinanzi dagli occhi suoi.
25 For the good are good things created from the beginning: so evil things for sinners.	25 Di secolo in secolo guarda, e non è nel conspetto suo cosa ammirabile.
26 The principal things for the whole use of man's life are water, fire, iron, and salt, flour of wheat, honey, milk, and the blood of the grape, and oil, and clothing.	26 Non è a lui a dire: che è questo, o che è quello? tutte cose in loro tempo si domanderanno.
27 All these things are for good to the godly: so to the sinners they are turned into evil.	27 La sua benedizione sì come uno fiume si spanderà.
28 There be spirits that are created for vengeance, which in their fury lay on sore strokes; in the time of destruction they pour out their force, and appease the wrath of him that made them.	28 Come il diluvio inebriò la terra, così l'ira sua erediterae nelle genti che non cercarono lui.
29 Fire, and hail, and famine, and death, all these were created for vengeance;	29 Com' elli l'acqua convertì in siccità, e la terra è seccata, così [come] le vie della terra alle vie di loro (cioè de' fiumi) sono dirette; così saranno le offensioni nell' ira sua a' peccatori.
30 Teeth of wild beasts, and scorpions, serpents, and the sword punishing the wicked to destruction.	30 Dal cominciamento li beni sono creati alli buoni; così alli rei e li beni e li mali.
31 They shall rejoice in his commandment, and they shall be ready upon earth, when need is; and when their time is come, they shall not transgress his word.	31 Il principio della cosa necessaria della vita degli uomini si è: acqua, fuoco, ferro e sale e latte e pane di farina monda, e miele e grappolo d' uva e olio e vestimento.
32 Therefore from the beginning I was resolved, and thought upon these things, and have left them in writing.	32 Queste cose a' santi tutte sono ne' beni; e così si convertono in male alli malvagi e alli peccatori.
33 All the works of the Lord are good: and he will give every needful thing in due season.	33 Sono spiriti (maligni), li quali sono creati a vendetta (de' rei); e nello suo furore confermarono li suoi tormenti.
34 So that a man cannot say, This is worse than that: for in time they shall all be well approved.	34 Nel tempo della fine del secolo getteranno la forza; e ritornerà in sè medesimi il furore di colui che gli fece.
35 And therefore praise ye the Lord with the whole heart and mouth, and bless the name of the Lord.	35 Fuoco, gragnuola, fame e morte, tutte queste cose sono create a vendetta;
	36 li denti delle bestie, li scorpioni e li serpenti e la spada che punisce in disterminamento delli iniqui.
	37 Pascerannosi nelli comandamenti suoi, e apparecchierannosi sopra terra nella necessitade, e nelli suoi tempi non travalicheranno punto.
	38 Però sono io (sapienza) confermata dal principio; io mi consigliai e pensai e lasciai alle scritture.
	39 Tutte l'opere di Dio sono buone, e ciascuna opera governa li suoi pesi.
	40 Non è dire: questa cosa è peggiore di quella; ogni cosa si prova nel suo tempo.
	41 E ora benedite e collaudate insieme il nome di Dio in ogni cuore e in ogni bocca.
