1 Alors les chefs de famille des Lévites s'en vinrent trouver le prêtre Eléazar, Josué, fils de Nûn, et leschefs de famille des tribus d'Israël,	1 Then the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and to Joshua the son of Nun and to the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the people of Israel;
2 alors qu'on se trouvait à Silo, au pays de Canaan, et leur dirent: "Yahvé, par l'intermédiaire de Moïse,a ordonné qu'on nous donne des villes pour y demeurer, et leurs pâturages pour notre bétail."	2 and they said to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, "The LORD commanded through Moses that we be given cities to dwell in, along with their pasture lands for our cattle."
3 Les Israélites donnèrent donc aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, selon l'ordre de Yahvé, les villes enquestion avec leurs pâturages.	3 So by command of the LORD the people of Israel gave to the Levites the following cities and pasture lands out of their inheritance.
4 On tira au sort pour les clans des Qehatites: aux fils du prêtre Aaron, d'entre les Lévites, échurenttreize villes des tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin;	4 The lot came out for the families of the Kohathites. So those Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5 aux autres fils de Qehat selon leurs clans, échurent dix villes des tribus d'Ephraïm, de Dan et de lademi-tribu de Manassé.	5 And the rest of the Kohathites received by lot from the families of the tribe of Ephraim, from the tribe of Dan and the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 Aux fils de Gershôn, selon leurs clans, échurent treize villes des tribus d'Issachar, d'Asher, deNephtali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Bashân.	6 The Gersonites received by lot from the families of the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
7 Aux fils de Merari selon leurs clans, échurent douze villes des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et deZabulon.	7 The Merarites according to their families received from the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 Les Israélites assignèrent par le sort ces villes et leurs pâturages aux Lévites, comme l'avait ordonnéYahvé par l'intermédiaire de Moïse.	8 These cities and their pasture lands the people of Israel gave by lot to the Levites, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.
9 Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes que voici dont lesnoms furent donnés.	9 Out of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon they gave the following cities mentioned by name,
10 Ce fut d'abord la part des fils d'Aaron, appartenant au clan des Qehatites, aux fils de Lévi, car lepremier lot était pour eux.	10 which went to the descendants of Aaron, one of the families of the Kohathites who belonged to the Levites; since the lot fell to them first.
11 Ils leur donnèrent Qiryat-Arba la ville du père d'Anaq -- c'est Hébron -- dans la montagne de Juda,avec les pâturages environnants.	11 They gave them Kiriath-arba (Arba being the father of Anak), that is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, along with the pasture lands round about it.
12 Mais la campagne de cette ville avec ses villages, ils les donnèrent en propriété à Caleb, fils deYephunné.	12 But the fields of the city and its villages had been given to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as his possession.
13 Aux fils du prêtre Aaron, ils donnèrent Hébron, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec sespâturages, ainsi que Libna et ses pâturages,	13 And to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, the city of refuge for the slayer, with its pasture lands, Libnah with its pasture lands,
14 Yattir et ses pâturages, Eshtemoa et ses pâturages,	14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,
15 Holôn et ses pâturages, Debir et ses pâturages,	15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,
16 Ashân et ses pâturages, Yutta et ses pâturages, et Bet-Shémesh et ses pâturages: neuf villes prisessur ces deux tribus.	16 Ain with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, Beth-shemesh with its pasture lands--nine cities out of these two tribes;
17 De la tribu de Benjamin, Gabaôn et ses pâturages, Géba et ses pâturages,	17 then out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,
18 Anatot et ses pâturages, et Almôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	18 Anathoth with its pasture lands, and Almon with its pasture lands--four cities.
19 Total des villes des prêtres fils d'Aaron: treize villes et leurs pâturages.	19 The cities of the descendants of Aaron, the priests, were in all thirteen cities with their pasture lands.
20 Quant aux clans des fils de Qehat, aux Lévites qui restaient parmi les fils de Qehat, les villes de leurlot furent prises sur la tribu d'Ephraïm.	20 As to the rest of the Kohathites belonging to the Kohathite families of the Levites, the cities allotted to them were out of the tribe of Ephraim.
21 On leur donna Sichem, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages, dans la montagned'Ephraïm, ainsi que Gézer et ses pâturages,	21 To them were given Shechem, the city of refuge for the slayer, with its pasture lands in the hill country of Ephraim, Gezer with its pasture lands,
22 Qibçayim et ses pâturages, et Bet-Horôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	22 Kibza-im with its pasture lands, Beth-horon with its pasture lands--four cities;
23 De la tribu de Dan, Elteqé et ses pâturages, Gibbetôn et ses pâturages,	23 and out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,
24 Ayyalôn et ses pâturages, et Gat-Rimmôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	24 Aijalon with its pasture lands, Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands--four cities;
25 De la demi-tribu de Manassé, Tanak et ses pâturages, et Yibleam et ses pâturages: deux villes.	25 and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasture lands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands--two cities.
26 Total: dix villes avec leurs pâturages pour les clans qui restaient parmi les fils de Qehat.	26 The cities of the families of the rest of the Kohathites were ten in all with their pasture lands.
27 Aux fils de Gershôn, de clans lévitiques, on donna, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Golân en Bashân,ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Ashtarot, avec leurs pâturages: deux villes.	27 And to the Gershonites, one of the families of the Levites, were given out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands, the city of refuge for the slayer, and Beeshterah with its pasture lands--two cities;
28 De la tribu d'Issachar, Qishyôn et ses pâturages, Daberat et ses pâturages,	28 and out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands,
29 Yarmut et ses pâturages, et En-Gannim et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	29 Jarmuth with its pasture lands, En-gannim with its pasture lands--four cities;
30 De la tribu d'Asher, Mishéal et ses pâturages, Abdôn et ses pâturages,	30 and out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,
31 Helqat et ses pâturages, et Rehob et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	31 Helkath with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands--four cities;
32 De la tribu de Nephtali, Qédesh en Galilée, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages,Hammot-Dor et ses pâturages, et Qartân et ses pâturages: trois villes.	32 and out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its pasture lands, the city of refuge for the slayer, Hammoth-dor with its pasture lands, and Kartan with its pasture lands--three cities.
33 Total des villes des Gershonites, selon leurs clans: treize villes et leurs pâturages.	33 The cities of the several families of the Gershonites were in all thirteen cities with their pasture lands.
34 Au clan des fils de Merari, au reste des Lévites, échurent de la tribu de Zabulon Yoqnéam et sespâturages, Qarta et ses pâturages,	34 And to the rest of the Levites, the Merarite families, were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokne-am with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands,
35 Rimmôn et ses pâturages, et Nahalal et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	35 Dimnah with its pasture lands, Nahalal with its pasture lands--four cities;
36 De l'autre côté du Jourdain de Jéricho, de la tribu de Ruben, Béçèr dans le désert, sur le plateau,ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages, Yahaç et ses pâturages,	36 and out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,
37 Qedémot et ses pâturages, et Méphaat et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mepha-ath with its pasture lands--four cities;
38 De la tribu de Gad, Ramot en Galaad, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages,Mahanayim et ses pâturages,	38 and out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, the city of refuge for the slayer, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,
39 Heshbôn et ses pâturages, et Yazèr et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	39 Heshbon with its pasture lands, Jazer with its pasture lands--four cities in all.
40 Total des villes qui furent le lot des fils de Merari selon leurs clans, du reste des clans lévitiques:douze villes.	40 As for the cities of the several Merarite families, that is, the remainder of the families of the Levites, those allotted to them were in all twelve cities.
41 Le nombre total des villes des Lévites au milieu du domaine des Israélites était de 48 villes avecleurs pâturages.	41 The cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the people of Israel were in all forty-eight cities with their pasture lands.
42 Ces villes comprenaient chacune la ville et ses pâturages alentour. Il en allait ainsi pour toutes lesvilles.	42 These cities had each its pasture lands round about it; so it was with all these cities.
43 C'est ainsi que Yahvé donna aux Israélites tout le pays qu'il avait juré de donner à leurs pères. Ils enprirent possession et s'y établirent.	43 Thus the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers; and having taken possession of it, they settled there.
44 Yahvé leur procura la tranquillité sur toutes leurs frontières, tout comme il l'avait juré à leurs pèreset, de tous leurs ennemis, aucun ne réussit à tenir devant eux. Tous leurs ennemis, Yahvé les livra entre leursmains.	44 And the LORD gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers; not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the LORD had given all their enemies into their hands.
45 De toutes les promesses que Yahvé avait faites à la maison d'Israël, aucune ne manqua son effet:tout se réalisa.	45 Not one of all the good promises which the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
