1 Alors les chefs de famille des Lévites s'en vinrent trouver le prêtre Eléazar, Josué, fils de Nûn, et leschefs de famille des tribus d'Israël,	1 And the leaders of the families of Levi approached Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the rulers of the extended families of each of the tribes of the sons of Israel.
2 alors qu'on se trouvait à Silo, au pays de Canaan, et leur dirent: "Yahvé, par l'intermédiaire de Moïse,a ordonné qu'on nous donne des villes pour y demeurer, et leurs pâturages pour notre bétail."	2 And they spoke to them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, and they said, “The Lord instructed, by the hand of Moses, that cities should be given to us as habitations, with their suburbs to nourish our cattle.”
3 Les Israélites donnèrent donc aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, selon l'ordre de Yahvé, les villes enquestion avec leurs pâturages.	3 And so the sons of Israel gave cities and their suburbs from their possessions, in accord with the order of the Lord.
4 On tira au sort pour les clans des Qehatites: aux fils du prêtre Aaron, d'entre les Lévites, échurenttreize villes des tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin;	4 And the lot went out for the family of Kohath, of the sons of Aaron, the priest, from the tribes of Judah and Simeon and Benjamin: thirteen cities.
5 aux autres fils de Qehat selon leurs clans, échurent dix villes des tribus d'Ephraïm, de Dan et de lademi-tribu de Manassé.	5 And to the remainder of the sons of Kohath, that is, to the Levites who were left over, there went, from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 Aux fils de Gershôn, selon leurs clans, échurent treize villes des tribus d'Issachar, d'Asher, deNephtali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Bashân.	6 And next the lot went out to the sons of Gershon, so that they would receive, from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh at Bashan: the number of thirteen cities.
7 Aux fils de Merari selon leurs clans, échurent douze villes des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et deZabulon.	7 And to the sons of Merari, by their families, from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun, there went twelve cities.
8 Les Israélites assignèrent par le sort ces villes et leurs pâturages aux Lévites, comme l'avait ordonnéYahvé par l'intermédiaire de Moïse.	8 And so the sons of Israel gave cities and their suburbs to the Levites, just as the Lord instructed by the hand of Moses, distributing to each by lot.
9 Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes que voici dont lesnoms furent donnés.	9 From the tribes of the sons of Judah and Simeon, Joshua gave cities, whose names are these:
10 Ce fut d'abord la part des fils d'Aaron, appartenant au clan des Qehatites, aux fils de Lévi, car lepremier lot était pour eux.	10 to the sons of Aaron, of the families of Kohath of the stock of Levi, (for the first lot went out for them,)
11 Ils leur donnèrent Qiryat-Arba la ville du père d'Anaq -- c'est Hébron -- dans la montagne de Juda,avec les pâturages environnants.	11 the city of Arba, the father of Anak, which is called Hebron, on the mountain of Judah, and its surrounding suburbs.
12 Mais la campagne de cette ville avec ses villages, ils les donnèrent en propriété à Caleb, fils deYephunné.	12 Yet truly, the fields and its villages he had given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, as a possession.
13 Aux fils du prêtre Aaron, ils donnèrent Hébron, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec sespâturages, ainsi que Libna et ses pâturages,	13 Therefore, he gave to the sons of Aaron the priest, Hebron as a city of refuge, as well as its suburbs, and Libnah, with its suburbs,
14 Yattir et ses pâturages, Eshtemoa et ses pâturages,	14 and Jattir, and Eshtemoa,
15 Holôn et ses pâturages, Debir et ses pâturages,	15 and Holon, and Debir,
16 Ashân et ses pâturages, Yutta et ses pâturages, et Bet-Shémesh et ses pâturages: neuf villes prisessur ces deux tribus.	16 and Ain, and Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, with their suburbs: nine cities from two tribes, just as has been said.
17 De la tribu de Benjamin, Gabaôn et ses pâturages, Géba et ses pâturages,	17 Then, from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, he gave Gibeon, and Geba,
18 Anatot et ses pâturages, et Almôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	18 and Anathoth, and Almon, with their suburbs: four cities.
19 Total des villes des prêtres fils d'Aaron: treize villes et leurs pâturages.	19 All the cities together of the sons of Aaron, the priest, were thirteen, with their suburbs.
20 Quant aux clans des fils de Qehat, aux Lévites qui restaient parmi les fils de Qehat, les villes de leurlot furent prises sur la tribu d'Ephraïm.	20 Yet truly, the remainder of the families of the sons of Kohath, of the stock of Levi, were given this possession:
21 On leur donna Sichem, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages, dans la montagned'Ephraïm, ainsi que Gézer et ses pâturages,	21 from the tribe of Ephraim, Shechem, one of the cities of refuge, with its suburbs, on mount Ephraim, and Gezer,
22 Qibçayim et ses pâturages, et Bet-Horôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	22 and Kibzaim, and Beth-horon, with their suburbs, four cities;
23 De la tribu de Dan, Elteqé et ses pâturages, Gibbetôn et ses pâturages,	23 and from the tribe of Dan, Elteke and Gibbethon,
24 Ayyalôn et ses pâturages, et Gat-Rimmôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	24 and Aijalon and Gath-Rimmon, with their suburbs, four cities;
25 De la demi-tribu de Manassé, Tanak et ses pâturages, et Yibleam et ses pâturages: deux villes.	25 then, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-Rimmon, with their suburbs, two cities.
26 Total: dix villes avec leurs pâturages pour les clans qui restaient parmi les fils de Qehat.	26 All the cities were ten, with their suburbs; these were given to the sons of Kohath, of the lesser degree.
27 Aux fils de Gershôn, de clans lévitiques, on donna, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Golân en Bashân,ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Ashtarot, avec leurs pâturages: deux villes.	27 Likewise, to the sons of Gershon, of the stock of Levi, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, went Golan in Bashan, one of the cities of refuge, and Bosra, with their suburbs, two cities;
28 De la tribu d'Issachar, Qishyôn et ses pâturages, Daberat et ses pâturages,	28 also, from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion, and Daberath,
29 Yarmut et ses pâturages, et En-Gannim et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	29 and Jarmuth, and Engannim, with their suburbs, four cities;
30 De la tribu d'Asher, Mishéal et ses pâturages, Abdôn et ses pâturages,	30 then, from the tribe of Asher, Mishal and Abdon,
31 Helqat et ses pâturages, et Rehob et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	31 and Helkath and Rehob, with their suburbs, four cities;
32 De la tribu de Nephtali, Qédesh en Galilée, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages,Hammot-Dor et ses pâturages, et Qartân et ses pâturages: trois villes.	32 likewise, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, one of the cities of refuge, and Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan, with their suburbs, three cities.
33 Total des villes des Gershonites, selon leurs clans: treize villes et leurs pâturages.	33 All the cities of the families of Gershon were thirteen, with their suburbs.
34 Au clan des fils de Merari, au reste des Lévites, échurent de la tribu de Zabulon Yoqnéam et sespâturages, Qarta et ses pâturages,	34 Then, to the sons of Merari, Levites of the lesser degree, by their families, were given, from the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and Kartah,
35 Rimmôn et ses pâturages, et Nahalal et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	35 and Dimnah and Nahalal, four cities with their suburbs;
36 De l'autre côté du Jourdain de Jéricho, de la tribu de Ruben, Béçèr dans le désert, sur le plateau,ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages, Yahaç et ses pâturages,	36 from the tribe of Reuben, beyond the Jordan, opposite Jericho, Bezer in the wilderness, one of the cities of refuge, Misor and Jazer, and Jethson and Mephaath, four cities with their suburbs;
37 Qedémot et ses pâturages, et Méphaat et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	37 from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth of Gilead, one of the cities of refuge, and Mahanaim and Heshbon and Jazer, four cities with their suburbs.
38 De la tribu de Gad, Ramot en Galaad, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages,Mahanayim et ses pâturages,	38 All the cities of the sons of Merari, by their families and extended families, were twelve.
39 Heshbôn et ses pâturages, et Yazèr et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	39 And so all the cities of the Levites, in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel, were forty-eight,
40 Total des villes qui furent le lot des fils de Merari selon leurs clans, du reste des clans lévitiques:douze villes.	40 with their suburbs, each distributed by families.
41 Le nombre total des villes des Lévites au milieu du domaine des Israélites était de 48 villes avecleurs pâturages.	41 And the Lord God gave to Israel all the land that he had sworn he would deliver to their fathers. And they possessed it, and they lived in it.
42 Ces villes comprenaient chacune la ville et ses pâturages alentour. Il en allait ainsi pour toutes lesvilles.	42 And he gave them peace with all the surrounding nations. And none of their enemies dared to stand against them; instead, they were brought under their sovereignty.
43 C'est ainsi que Yahvé donna aux Israélites tout le pays qu'il avait juré de donner à leurs pères. Ils enprirent possession et s'y établirent.	43 Indeed, not so much as one word that he had promised to provide for them was left empty; instead, everything was fulfilled.
44 Yahvé leur procura la tranquillité sur toutes leurs frontières, tout comme il l'avait juré à leurs pèreset, de tous leurs ennemis, aucun ne réussit à tenir devant eux. Tous leurs ennemis, Yahvé les livra entre leursmains.
45 De toutes les promesses que Yahvé avait faites à la maison d'Israël, aucune ne manqua son effet:tout se réalisa.
