Première épître aux Corinthiens 4

JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Qu'on nous regarde donc comme des serviteurs du Christ et des intendants des mystères deDieu.	1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 Or, ce qu'en fin de compte on demande à des intendants, c'est que chacun soit trouvé fidèle.	2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
3 Pour moi, il m'importe fort peu d'être jugé par vous ou par un tribunal humain. Bien plus, je neme juge pas moi-même.	3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4 Ma conscience, il est vrai, ne me reproche rien, mais je n'en suis pas justifié pour autant; monjuge, c'est le Seigneur.	4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
5 Ainsi donc, ne portez pas de jugement prématuré. Laissez venir le Seigneur; c'est lui quiéclairera les secrets des ténèbres et rendra manifestes les desseins des coeurs. Et alors chacun recevra de Dieu lalouange qui lui revient.	5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
6 En tout cela, frères, je me suis pris comme exemple avec Apollos à cause de vous, pour quevous appreniez, en nos personnes, la maxime: "Rien au-delà de ce qui est écrit", afin que vous ne vous gonfliezpas d'orgueil en prenant le parti de l'un contre l'autre.	6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
7 Qui donc en effet te distingue? Qu'as-tu que tu n'aies reçu? Et si tu l'as reçu, pourquoi teglorifier comme si tu ne l'avais pas reçu?	7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
8 Déjà, vous êtes rassasiés! déjà vous vous êtes enrichis! sans nous, vous êtes devenus rois! Ah!que ne l'êtes-vous donc, rois, pour que nous partagions, nous aussi, votre royauté!	8 Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
9 Car Dieu, ce me semble, nous a, nous les apôtres, exhibés au dernier rang, comme descondamnés à mort; oui, nous avons été livrés en spectacle au monde, aux anges et aux hommes.	9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.
10 Nous sommes fous, nous, à cause du Christ, mais vous, vous êtes prudents dans le Christ;nous sommes faibles, mais vous, vous êtes forts; vous êtes à l'honneur, mais nous dans le mépris.	10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
11 Jusqu'à l'heure présente, nous avons faim, nous avons soif, nous sommes nus, maltraités eterrants;	11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 nous nous épuisons à travailler de nos mains. On nous insulte et nous bénissons; on nouspersécute et nous l'endurons;	12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13 on nous calomnie et nous consolons. Nous sommes devenus comme l'ordure du monde,jusqu'à présent l'universel rebut.	13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 Ce n'est pas pour vous confondre que j'écris cela; c'est pour vous avertir comme mes enfantsbien-aimés.	14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15 Auriez-vous en effet des milliers de pédagogues dans le Christ, que vous n'avez pas plusieurspères; car c'est moi qui, par l'Evangile, vous ai engendrés dans le Christ Jésus.	15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Je vous en prie donc, montrez-vous mes imitateurs.	16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
17 C'est pour cela même que je vous ai envoyé Timothée, qui est mon enfant bien-aimé et fidèledans le Seigneur; il vous rappellera mes règles de conduite dans le Christ Jésus, telles que je les enseigne partoutdans toutes les Eglises.	17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
18 Dans la pensée que je ne viendrais pas chez vous, certains se sont gonflés d'orgueil.	18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
19 Mais je viendrai bientôt chez vous, s'il plaît au Seigneur, et je jugerai alors non des parolesde ces gonflés d'orgueil, mais de leur puissance;	19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
20 car le Royaume de Dieu ne consiste pas en parole, mais en puissance.	20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21 Que préférez-vous? Que je vienne chez vous avec des verges, ou bien avec charité et enesprit de douceur?	21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?
