1 Quand on eut fini de boire et de manger, on parla d'aller se coucher, et l'on conduisit le jeune hommedepuis la salle du repas jusque dans la chambre.	1 In truth, after they had dined, they introduced the young man to her.
2 Tobie se souvint des conseils de Raphaël, il prit son sac, il en tira le coeur et le foie du poisson, et ilen mit sur les braises de l'encens.	2 And so, Tobias, remembering the word of the Angel, took part of the liver from his bag, and he placed it over the live coals.
3 L'odeur du poisson incommoda le démon, qui s'enfuit par les airs jusqu'en Egypte. Raphaël l'ypoursuivit, l'entrava et le garrotta sur-le-champ.	3 Then the Angel Raphael caught the demon, and bound him in the desert of upper Egypt.
4 Cependant les parents étaient sortis en refermant la porte. Tobie se leva du lit, et dit à Sarra: "Debout,ma soeur! Il faut prier tous deux, et recourir à notre Seigneur, pour obtenir sa grâce et sa protection."	4 Then Tobias exhorted the virgin, and he said to her: “Sarah, get up and let us pray to God this day, and tomorrow, and the following day. For, during these three nights, we are being joined to God. And then, when the third night has passed, we ourselves will be joined together.
5 Elle se leva et ils se mirent à prier pour obtenir d'être protégés, et il commença ainsi: Tu es béni, Dieude nos pères, et ton Nom est béni dans tous les siècles des siècles! Que te bénissent les cieux, et toutes tescréatures dans tous les siècles!	5 For certainly, we are the children of the saints, and we must not be joined together in such a manner as the heathens, who are ignorant of God.”
6 C'est toi qui as créé Adam, c'est toi qui as créé Eve sa femme, pour être son secours et son appui, et larace humaine est née de ces deux-là. C'est toi qui as dit: Il ne faut pas que l'homme reste seul, faisons-lui uneaide semblable à lui.	6 And so, rising up together, they both prayed earnestly, at the same time, that health might be given to them.
7 Et maintenant, ce n'est pas le plaisir que je cherche en prenant ma soeur, mais je le fais d'un coeursincère. Daigne avoir pitié d'elle et de moi et nous mener ensemble à la vieillesse!	7 And Tobias said: “Lord, the God of our fathers, may the heavens and the earth bless you, and the sea, and the fountains, and the rivers, and all your creatures that are in them.
8 Et ils dirent de concert: "Amen, amen!"	8 You formed Adam from the mud of the earth, and you gave Eve to him as a helper.
9 Et ils se couchèrent pour la nuit. Or Ragouël se leva, il appela les serviteurs, et ils vinrent l'aider àcreuser une tombe.	9 And now, O Lord, you know that I take my sister in conjugal union, not by reason of worldly pleasure, but solely for the love of posterity, in which your name may be blessed forever and ever.”
10 Il avait pensé: "Pourvu qu'il ne meure pas! Nous serions couverts de ridicule et de honte."	10 Sarah likewise said, “Be merciful to us, O Lord, be merciful to us. And let us both grow old together in health.”
11 Une fois la fosse achevée, Ragouël revint à la maison, il appela sa femme	11 And it happened, about the time of the rooster’s crowing, that Raguel ordered his servants to be summoned, and they went out with him together to dig a grave.
12 et lui dit: "Si tu envoyais une servante dans la chambre voir si Tobie est en vie? Parce que, s'il estmort, on l'enterrerait sans que personne en sache rien."	12 For he said, “Lest perhaps, in the same way, it may have happened to him, as it did also to the other seven men who approached her.”
13 On avertit la servante, on alluma la lampe, on ouvrit la porte, et la servante entra. Elle les trouvadormant tous deux d'un profond sommeil;	13 And when they had prepared the pit, Raguel returned to his wife, and he said to her,
14 elle ressortit, et leur dit tout bas: "Il n'est pas mort, tout va bien."	14 “Send one of your maids, and let her see if he is dead, so that I may bury him before the dawn of day.”
15 Ragouël bénit le Dieu du Ciel par ces paroles: Tu es béni, mon Dieu, par toute bénédiction pure!Qu'on te bénisse dans tous les siècles!	15 And so, she sent one of her maidservants, who entered the bedroom and discovered them safe and unharmed, sleeping both together.
16 Tu es béni de m'avoir réjoui, ce que je redoutais n'est pas arrivé, mais tu nous as traités avec tonimmense bienveillance.	16 And returning, she reported the good news. And they blessed the Lord: Raguel, especially, and his wife Anna.
17 Tu es béni d'avoir eu pitié de ce fils unique et de cette fille unique. Donne-leur, Maître, ta grâce et taprotection, fais-les poursuivre leur vie, dans la joie et dans la grâce!	17 And they said: “We bless you, Lord God of Israel, because it has not happened in the way that we thought it might.
18 Et il fit combler la tombe par les serviteurs, avant le petit jour.	18 For you have acted in your mercy toward us, and you have excluded from us the enemy who pursued us.
19 Il fit faire par sa femme une fournée de pains, il alla au troupeau, prit deux boeufs et quatre moutons,il les recommanda à la cuisine, et l'on commença les préparatifs.	19 Moreover, you have had compassion on two only children. Make them, O Lord, able to bless you more fully and to offer you a sacrifice of your praise and of their health, so that all peoples everywhere may know that you alone are God in all the earth.”
20 Il fit venir Tobie et lui déclara: "Pendant quatorze jours, il n'est pas question que tu bouges d'ici. Turesteras là où tu es, à manger et à boire, chez moi. Tu rendras la joie à ma fille après tous ses chagrins.	20 And immediately Raguel instructed his servants to refill the pit, which they had made, before daylight.
21 Après, emporte d'ici la moitié de tout ce que j'ai, et retourne sans encombre auprès de ton père.Quand nous serons morts, ma femme et moi, vous aurez l'autre moitié. Aie confiance, mon garçon! Je suis tonpère, et Edna est ta mère. Nous sommes tes parents, comme ceux de ta soeur, désormais. Aie confiance, monenfant!"	21 And then he told his wife to make ready a feast, and to prepare all the provisions that are necessary for those who undertake a journey.
	22 Likewise, he caused two fat cows and four rams to be killed, and a banquet to be prepared for all his neighbors and every one of his friends.
	23 And Raguel pleaded with Tobias to delay with him for two weeks.
	24 Moreover, of all the things that Raguel possessed, he gave one half part to Tobias, and he made a writing, so that the half that remained should also pass into the ownership of Tobias, after their deaths.
