1 Elyashib, le grand prêtre, et ses frères les prêtres se levèrent et construisirent la porte des Brebis;ils en firent la charpente, fixèrent ses battants, verrous et barres, et continuèrent jusqu'à la tour des Cent etjusqu'à la tour de Hananéel.	1 And Eliashib, the great priest, rose up, with his brothers, the priests, and they built the gate of the flock. They sanctified it, and they set up its double doors, and as far as the tower of one hundred cubits, they sanctified it, even to the tower of Hananel.
2 A leur suite, construisirent les gens de Jéricho; à leur suite, construisit Zakkur, fils d'Imri.	2 And beside him, the men of Jericho built. And beside them, Zaccur, the son of Imri, built.
3 Les fils de Ha-Senaa construisirent la porte des Poissons; ils en firent la charpente, fixèrent sesbattants, verrous et barres.	3 But the sons of Hassenaah built the fish gate. They covered it, and they set up its double doors and locks and bars. And beside them, Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, built.
4 A leur suite répara Merémot, fils d'Uriyya, fils d'Haqqoç; à sa suite répara Meshullam, fils deBérékya, fils de Meshèzabéel; à sa suite répara Sadoq, fils de Baana.	4 And beside him, Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel, built. And beside them, Zadok, the son of Baana, built.
5 A sa suite réparèrent les gens de Teqoa, mais leurs notables refusèrent de mettre leur nuque auservice de leurs seigneurs.	5 And beside them, the Tekoites built. But the nobles among them did not put their necks to the work of their Lord.
6 Quant à la porte du Quartier neuf, Yoyada, fils de Paséah, et Meshullam, fils de Besodya, laréparèrent; ils en firent la charpente, fixèrent ses battants, verrous et barres.	6 And Joiada, the son of Paseah, and Meshullam, the son of Besodeiah, built the old gate. They covered it, and they set up its double doors and locks and bars.
7 A leur suite, réparèrent Melatya de Gabaôn et Yadôn de Méronot, ainsi que les gens de Gabaôn etde Miçpa, pour le compte du gouverneur de Transeuphratène.	7 And beside them, Melatiah, a Gibeonite, and Jadon, a Meronothite, men from Gibeon and Mizpah, built, on behalf of the governor who was in the region across the river.
8 A leur suite répara Uzziel, membre de la corporation des orfèvres, et à sa suite répara Hananya, dela corporation des parfumeurs: ils renforcèrent Jérusalem jusqu'à la muraille large.	8 And beside him, Uzziel, the son of Harhaiah the goldsmith, built. And beside him, Hananiah, the son of the perfumer, built. And they left aside Jerusalem as far as the wall of the broad street.
9 A leur suite répara Rephaya, fils de Hur, chef de la moitié du district de Jérusalem.	9 And beside him, Rephaiah, the son of Hur, leader of a street of Jerusalem, built.
10 A leur suite répara Yedaya, fils de Harumaph, devant sa maison; à sa suite répara Hattush, fils deHashabnéya.	10 And beside him, Jedaiah, the son of Harumaph, built, opposite his own house. And beside him, Hattush, the son of Hashabneiah, built.
11 Malkiyya, fils de Harim, et Hashshub, fils de Pahat-Moab, réparèrent le secteur suivant jusqu'à latour des Fours.	11 Malchijah, the son of Harim, and Hasshub, the son of Pahath-moab, built one half part of the street and the tower of the furnaces.
12 A leur suite répara Shallum, fils de Hallohesh, chef de la moitié du district de Jérusalem, lui et sesfils.	12 And beside him, Shallum, the son of Hallohesh, the leader of one half part of a street of Jerusalem, built, he and his daughters.
13 Quant à la porte de la Vallée, Hanûn et les habitants de Zanoah la réparèrent: ils la construisirent,fixèrent ses battants, verrous et barres et firent mille coudées de mur, jusqu'à la porte du Fumier.	13 And Hanun built the gate of the valley, with the inhabitants of Zanoah. They built it, and they set up its double doors and locks and bars, with one thousand cubits of the wall, as far as the gate of the dunghill.
14 Quant à la porte du Fumier, Malkiyya, fils de Rékab, chef du district de Bet-ha-Kérem, la répara,lui et ses fils: il fixa ses battants, verrous et barres.	14 And Malchijah, the son of Rechab, the leader of the street of Beth-haccherem, built the gate of the dunghill. He built it, and he set up its double doors and locks and bars.
15 Quant à la porte de la Fontaine, Shallum, fils de Kol-Hozé, chef du district de Miçpa, la répara: illa construisit, la couvrit, fixa ses battants, verrous et barres. Il refit aussi le mur de la citerne de Siloé, jouxtant lejardin du roi, jusqu'aux escaliers qui descendent de la Cité de David.	15 And Shallum, the son of Colhozeh, the leader of the district of Mizpah, built the gate of the fountain. He built it, and he covered it, and he set up its double doors and locks and bars, and the walls of the pool of Shelah at the garden of the king, and as far as the steps that descend from the City of David.
16 Après lui Néhèmya, fils d'Azbuq, chef de la moitié du district de Bet-Cur, répara jusqu'en facedes tombeaux de David, jusqu'à la citerne construite et jusqu'à la Maison des Preux.	16 After him, Nehemiah, the son of Azbuk, the leader of one half part of the street of Bethzur, built, as far as opposite the sepulcher of David, and even to the pool, which was constructed with great labor, and even to the house of the strong.
17 Après lui, les lévites réparèrent: Rehum, fils de Bani; à sa suite répara Hashabya, chef de lamoitié du district de Qéïla, pour son district;	17 After him, the Levites, Rehum, the son of Bani, built. After him, Hashabiah, the leader of one half part of the street of Keilah, built, in his own neighborhood.
18 à sa suite réparèrent leurs frères: Binnuï, fils de Hénadad, chef de la moitié du district de Qéïla;	18 After him, their brothers, Binnui, the son of Henadad, the leader of one half part of Keilah, built.
19 à sa suite Ezer, fils de Yéshua, chef de Miçpa, répara un autre secteur, en face de la montée del'Arsenal, à l'Encoignure.	19 And beside him, Ezer, the son of Jeshua, the leader of Mizpah, built another measure, opposite the ascent to the strongest corner.
20 Après lui Baruk, fils de Zabbaï, répara un autre secteur, depuis l'Encoignure jusqu'à la porte de lamaison d'Elyashib, le grand prêtre.	20 After him, at the mount, Baruch, the son of Zabbai, built another measure, from the corner even to the door of the house of Eliashib, the great priest.
21 Après lui Merémot, fils d'Uriyya, fils d'Haqqoç, répara un autre secteur, depuis l'entrée de lamaison d'Elyashib jusqu'à son extrémité.	21 After him, Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, built another measure, from the door of the house of Eliashib, along the length of the house of Eliashib.
22 Après lui les prêtres qui habitaient le district travaillèrent aux réparations.	22 And after him, the priests, men from the plains of the Jordan, built.
23 Après eux Binyamîn et Hashshub réparèrent en face de leurs maisons. Après eux Azarya, fils deMaaséya, fils d'Ananya, répara à côté de sa maison.	23 After him, Benjamin and Hasshub built, opposite their own house. And after him, Azariah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, built, opposite his own house.
24 Après lui Binnuï, fils de Hénadad, répara un autre secteur, depuis la maison d'Azarya jusqu'àl'Encoignure et à l'Angle.	24 After him, Binnui, the son of Henadad, built another measure, from the house of Azariah, even to the bend and to the corner.
25 Après lui Palal, fils d'Uzaï, répara vis-à-vis de l'Encoignure et de la tour qui fait saillie sur lePalais royal supérieur et est située dans la cour de la prison. Après lui Pedaya, fils de Paréosh, répara	25 Palal, the son of Uzai, built, opposite the bend and the tower that projects from the high house of the king, that is, into the court of the prison. After him, Pedaiah, the son of Parosh, built.
26 jusque devant la porte des Eaux, vers l'orient et jusqu'à la tour saillante.	26 And the temple servants, who were living in Ophel, built to a point opposite the water gate, toward the east, and the tower that is prominent.
27 Après lui les gens de Teqoa réparèrent un autre secteur, vis-à-vis de la grande tour en sailliejusqu'au mur de l'Ophel.	27 After him, the Tekoites built another measure in the opposite area, from the great and prominent tower to the wall of the temple.
28 A partir de la porte des Chevaux, les prêtres travaillèrent aux réparations, chacun en face de samaison.	28 Then, upward from the horse gate, the priests built, each one opposite his own house.
29 Après eux Sadoq, fils d'Immer, répara en face de sa maison. Après lui répara Shemaya, fils deShekanya, gardien de la porte de l'Orient.	29 After them, Zadok, the son of Immer, built, opposite his own house. And after him, Shemaiah, the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the east gate, built.
30 Après lui Hananya, fils de Shélémya, et Hanûn, sixième fils de Calaph, réparèrent un autresecteur. Après lui Meshullam, fils de Bérékya, répara vis-à-vis de son habitation.	30 After him, Hananiah, the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, built another measure. After him, Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, built, opposite his own storehouse. After him, Malchijah, the son of the goldsmith, built, even up to the house of the temple servants and of the sellers of small items, opposite the judgment gate, and even to the upper room of the corner.
31 Après lui Malkiyya, de la corporation des orfèvres, répara jusqu'à la demeure des "donnés" et descommerçants, en face de la porte de la Surveillance, jusqu'à la salle haute de l'Angle.	31 And within the upper room of the corner, at the gate of the flock, the goldsmiths and the merchants built.
32 Et entre la salle haute de l'Angle et la porte des Brebis, les orfèvres et les commerçantsréparèrent.
33 Lorsque Sânballat apprit que nous reconstruisions le rempart, il se mit en colère et se montra fortirrité. Il se moqua des Juifs,
34 et s'écria devant ses frères et devant l'aristocratie de Samarie: "Qu'entreprennent là ces misérablesJuifs?... Vont-ils y renoncer? Ou sacrifier? Ou en finir en un jour? Feront-ils revivre ces pierres, tirées demonceaux de décombres et même calcinées?"
35 Tobiyya l'Ammonite se tenait à ses côtés; il dit: "Pour ce qu'ils construisent, si un chacal ymontait, il démolirait leur muraille de pierres!"
36 Ecoute, ô notre Dieu, comme nous voilà méprisés! Fais retomber leurs insultes sur leur tête.Livre-les au mépris en un pays de captivité!
37 Ne pardonne point leur iniquité et que leur péché ne soit pas effacé devant toi: car ils ont offenséles bâtisseurs!
38 Or nous rebâtissions le rempart qui fut réparé tout entier jusqu'à mi-hauteur. Le peuple avait lecoeur à l'ouvrage.
