| 1 Alors Dieu se souvint de Noé et de toutes les bêtes sauvages et de tous les bestiaux qui étaient aveclui dans l'arche;Dieu fit passer un vent sur la terre et les eaux désenflèrent. | 1 But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided; |
| 2 Les sources de l'abîme et les écluses du ciel furent fermées;-- la pluie fut retenue de tomber du ciel | 2 the fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained, |
| 3 et les eaux se retirèrent petit à petit de la terre; -- les eaux baissèrent au bout de 15 0 jours | 3 and the waters receded from the earth continually. At the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters had abated; |
| 4 et, au septième mois, au dix-septième jour du mois, l'arche s'arrêta sur les monts d'Ararat. | 4 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest upon the mountains of Ararat. |
| 5 Les eaux continuèrent de baisser jusqu'au dixième mois et, au premier du dixième mois, apparurentles sommets des montagnes. | 5 And the waters continued to abate until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen. |
| 6 Au bout de 40 jours, Noé ouvrit la fenêtre qu'il avait faite à l'arche | 6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made, |
| 7 et il lâcha le corbeau, qui alla et vint en attendant que les eaux aient séché sur la terre. | 7 and sent forth a raven; and it went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth. |
| 8 Alors il lâcha d'auprès de lui la colombe pour voir si les eaux avaient diminué à la surface du sol. | 8 Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground; |
| 9 La colombe, ne trouvant pas un endroit où poser ses pattes, revint vers lui dans l'arche, car il y avaitde l'eau sur toute la surface de la terre; il étendit la main, la prit et la fit rentrer auprès de lui dans l'arche. | 9 but the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put forth his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him. |
| 10 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et lâcha de nouveau la colombe hors de l'arche. | 10 He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; |
| 11 La colombe revint vers lui sur le soir et voici qu'elle avait dans le bec un rameau tout fraisd'olivier! Ainsi Noé connut que les eaux avaient diminué à la surface de la terre. | 11 and the dove came back to him in the evening, and lo, in her mouth a freshly plucked olive leaf; so Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth. |
| 12 Il attendit encore sept autres jours et lâcha la colombe, quine revint plus vers lui. | 12 Then he waited another seven days, and sent forth the dove; and she did not return to him any more. |
| 13 C'est en l'an 60 1 de la vie de Noé, au premier mois, le premier du mois, que les eaux séchèrent surla terre. Noé enleva la couverture de l'arche; il regarda, et voici que la surface du sol était sèche! | 13 In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried from off the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dry. |
| 14 Au second mois, le vingt-septième jour du mois, la terre fut sèche. | 14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. |
| 15 Alors Dieu parla ainsi à Noé: | 15 Then God said to Noah, |
| 16 "Sors de l'arche, toi et ta femme, tes fils et les femmes de tes fils avec toi. | 16 "Go forth from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons' wives with you. |
| 17 Tous les animaux qui sont avec toi, tout ce qui est chair, oiseaux, bestiaux et tout ce qui rampe surla terre, fais-les sortir avec toi: qu'ils pullulent sur la terre, qu'ils soient féconds et multiplient sur la terre." | 17 Bring forth with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh--birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth--that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth." |
| 18 Noé sortit avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils; | 18 So Noah went forth, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him. |
| 19 et toutes les bêtes sauvages, tous les bestiaux, tous les oiseaux, toutes les bestioles qui rampent surla terre sortirent de l'arche, une espèce après l'autre. | 19 And every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves upon the earth, went forth by families out of the ark. |
| 20 Noé construisit un autel à Yahvé, il prit de tous les animaux purs et de tous les oiseaux purs etoffrit des holocaustes sur l'autel. | 20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. |
| 21 Yahvé respira l'agréable odeur et il se dit en lui-même: "Je ne maudirai plus jamais la terre à causede l'homme, parce que les desseins du cœur de l'homme sont mauvais dès son enfance, plus jamais je nefrapperai tous les vivants comme j’ai fait. | 21 And when the LORD smelled the pleasing odor, the LORD said in his heart, "I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I ever again destroy every living creature as I have done. |
| 22 Tant que durera la terre, semailles et moisson, froidure et chaleur, été et hiver, jour et nuit necesseront plus." | 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease." |
