| 1 Au commencement du règne de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, cette parole fut adressée à Jérémie par le Seigneur, en ces termes : | 1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, |
| 2 Voici ce que m'a (me) dit le Seigneur : Fais-toi des liens et des chaînes, et mets-les (tu les mettras) à ton cou, | 2 Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck, |
| 3 et tu les enverras au roi d'Edom, au roi de Moab, au roi des enfants d'Ammon, au roi de Tyr et au roi de Sidon, par les ambassadeurs qui sont venus à Jérusalem, auprès de Sédécias, roi de Juda, | 3 And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah; |
| 4 et tu leur ordonneras de parler ainsi à leurs maîtres : Ainsi parle le Seigneur des armées, le Dieu d'Israël : Vous direz ceci à vos maîtres : | 4 And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; |
| 5 C'est moi qui ai fait la terre, les hommes et les animaux qui sont sur la face de la terre, par ma grande puissance et par mon bras étendu, et j'ai donné la terre à celui qui a plu à mes yeux. | 5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. |
| 6 J'ai donc livré maintenant toutes ces terres entre les mains (dans la maison) de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur ; je lui ai donné aussi les bêtes des champs, pour qu'elles lui soient assujetties ; | 6 And now have I given all these lands unto the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. |
| 7 et tous les peuples lui seront soumis, ainsi qu'à son fils et au fils de son fils, jusqu'à ce que vienne le temps de son pays et le sien ; et des (beaucoup de) nations et de grands rois lui seront soumis. | 7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. |
| 8 Si une nation et un royaume ne se soumet pas à Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et ne baisse pas le cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone, je visiterai cette nation par le glaive, par la famine et par la peste, dit le Seigneur, jusqu'à ce que je les aie consumés par sa main. | 8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. |
| 9 Vous donc n'écoutez pas vos prophètes, ni vos devins, ni vos inventeurs de songes (rêveurs), ni vos augures, ni vos magiciens qui vous disent : Vous ne serez pas assujettis au roi de Babylone. | 9 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: |
| 10 Car ils vous prophétisent le mensonge, pour vous envoyer loin de votre pays, pour vous chasser et vous faire périr. | 10 For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish. |
| 11 Mais la nation qui baissera son cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone et lui sera soumise, je la laisserai dans son pays, dit le Seigneur, et elle le cultivera et y habitera. | 11 But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. |
| 12 Je parlai entièrement de la même manière à Sédécias, roi de Juda, en disant : Baissez vos cous sous le joug du roi de Babylone, et soyez-lui soumis, ainsi qu'à son peuple, et vous vivrez. | 12 I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live. |
| 13 Pourquoi mourr(i)ez-vous, toi et ton peuple, par le glaive, par la famine et par la peste, comme le Seigneur l'a dit au sujet de la nation qui ne voudra pas se soumettre au roi de Babylone ? | 13 Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? |
| 14 N'écoutez pas les paroles des prophètes qui vous disent : Vous ne serez pas assujettis au roi de Babylone ; car c'est le mensonge qu'ils vous disent. | 14 Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. |
| 15 Je ne les ai pas envoyés, dit le Seigneur ; et ils prophétisent faussement en mon nom, pour vous chasser (de votre terre), et pour vous faire périr, vous et les prophètes qui vous prophétisent (l'avenir). | 15 For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you. |
| 16 Je parlai aussi aux prêtres et à ce peuple, en disant : Ainsi parle le Seigneur : N'écoutez pas les paroles de vos prophètes, qui vous prophétisent, en disant : Voici, les vases de la maison du Seigneur reviendront bientôt de Babylone ; car c'est le (un) mensonge qu'ils vous prophétisent. | 16 Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. |
| 17 Ne les écoutez donc pas ; mais soyez soumis au roi de Babylone, afin que vous viviez ; pourquoi cette ville deviendrait-elle un désert ? | 17 Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste? |
| 18 S'ils sont prophètes, et si la parole du Seigneur est en eux, qu'ils s'opposent au Seigneur des armées, afin que les vases qui ont été laissés dans la maison du Seigneur, et dans la maison du roi de Juda, et dans Jérusalem, ne s'en aillent pas à Babylone. | 18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. |
| 19 Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées au sujet des colonnes, de la mer, des bases et des autres vases qui sont restés dans cette ville | 19 For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city, |
| 20 que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, n'a pas emportés lorsqu'il emmenait Jéchonias, fils de Joakim, roi de Juda, de Jérusalem à Babylone, avec tous les grands de Juda et de Jérusalem ; | 20 Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; |
| 21 voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, au sujet des vases qui ont été laissés dans la maison du Seigneur, et dans la maison du roi de Juda et dans Jérusalem : | 21 Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem; |
| 22 Ils seront transportés à Babylone, et ils y seront jusqu'au jour où je les visiterai, dit le Seigneur, et où je les ferai rapporter et remettre à leur place (en ce lieu). | 22 They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place. |
