Proverbi 14

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 La sapienza costruisce la sua casa, la stoltezza con le proprie mani la distrugge.	1 Wisdom builds herself a house; with her own hands Folly pul s it down.
2 Chi cammina nella sua rettitudine ha il timor di Dio, chi perverte la sua strada lo disprezza.	2 Whoever keeps to an honest course fears Yahweh, whoever deserts his paths shows contempt forhim.
3 Nella bocca dello stolto c'è un germoglio di superbia, le labbra dei saggi li custodiscono.	3 Pride sprouts in the mouth of the fool, the lips of the wise keep them safe.
4 Se non ci sono buoi la greppia è vuota, nella forza del giovenco c'è abbondanza di prodotti.	4 No oxen, empty manger; strong bul , much cash.
5 Un testimonio verace non mentisce, un falso testimonio esala falsità.	5 The truthful witness tells no lies, the false witness lies with every breath.
6 Cerca la sapienza l'insolente, ma invano, per l'intelligente, la sapienza è cosa facile.	6 In vain the mocker looks for wisdom, knowledge comes easy to the intel igent.
7 Guarda di star lontano dall'insipiente, perché non vi troverai labbra sapienti.	7 Keep wel clear of the fool, you wil not find wise lips there.
8 Chi è prudente studia bene la sua strada, ma la follia degli stolti è sbandamento.	8 With people of discretion, wisdom keeps a watch over their conduct, but the fol y of fools leads themastray.
9 Nelle tende degli insolenti c'è il castigo, nelle case dei giusti c'è la grazia.	9 Fools mock at the sacrifice for sin, but favour resides among the honest.
10 Conosce il cuore la sua propria amarezza e alla sua gioia non s'associa l'estraneo.	10 The heart knows its own grief best, nor can a stranger share its joy.
11 La casa degli empi sarà abbattuta, la tenda dei giusti fiorirà.	11 The house of the wicked wil be destroyed, the tent of the honest wil prosper.
12 Una strada agli occhi dell'uomo par diritta, all'altra estremità però c'è un trabocchetto.	12 There are ways that some think straight, but they lead in the end to death.
13 Perfino nel riso il cuore si rattrista e la gioia stessa finisce nell'afflizione.	13 Even in laughter the heart finds sadness, and joy makes way for sorrow.
14 Delle sue vie si sazia il traviato, ma l'uomo buono delle sue azioni.	14 The miscreant wil reap the reward of his conduct, and the good the reward of his deeds.
15 L'ingenuo crede ad ogni parola, chi è prudente veglia sui suoi passi.	15 The simpleton believes any message, a person of discretion treads a careful path.
16 Il saggio teme e sfugge il male, lo stolto va avanti e sta tranquillo.	16 The wise fears evil and avoids it, the fool is insolent and conceited.
17 Chi è pronto all'ira commette ogni stoltezza e l'uomo tenebroso attira l'odio.	17 A quick-tempered person commits rash acts, but a schemer is detestable.
18 Gli ingenui hanno in sorte la stoltezza, gli accorti invece si adornano di scienza.	18 Simpletons have folly for their portion, people of discretion knowledge for their crown.
19 I cattivi si inchineranno ai buoni e gli empi davanti alle porte dei giusti.	19 The evil bow down before the good, the wicked, at the gates of the upright.
20 Il povero è odiato anche dal suo simile, ma gli amici del ricco sono molti.	20 The poor is detestable even to a friend, but many are they who love someone rich.
21 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo fa peccato, ma chi ha pietà dei miseri è beato.	21 One who despises the needy is at fault, one who takes pity on the poor is blessed.
22 Non traviano forse gli artefici del male? Benevolenza e fedeltà a chi fa il bene.	22 Plan evil -- isn't this to go astray? Those who plan for good can earn faithful love and constancy.
23 In ogni fatica c'è guadagno, solo la parola delle labbra porta all'indigenza.	23 Hard work always yields its profit, idle talk brings only want.
24 Corona dei saggi è la loro ricchezza, diadema degli stolti è la stoltezza.	24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the fol y of fools is folly.
25 Un testimonio veritiero salva molti, chi dice menzogne è una rovina.	25 A truthful witness saves lives, whoever utters lies is a deceiver.
26 Nel timore del Signore c'è un sicuro rifugio e per i suoi figli egli è riparo.	26 In the fear of Yahweh is powerful security; for his children he is a refuge.
27 Il timore del Signore è sorgente di vita per sfuggire ai lacci della morte.	27 The fear of Yahweh is a life-giving spring for eluding the snares of death.
28 L'onore del re sta nella moltitudine del popolo, carenza di popolo è rovina del principe.	28 Large population, monarch's glory; dwindling population, ruler's ruin.
29 Chi è lento alla collera ha molta intelligenza, chi è facile a infiammarsi mostra stoltezza.	29 Mastery of temper is high proof of intel igence, a quick temper makes fol y worse than ever.
30 Vita dei corpi è un cuore benigno, l'invidia è tarlo delle ossa.	30 The life of the body is a tranquil heart, but envy is a cancer in the bones.
31 Chi opprime il povero disonora il suo Creatore, lo glorifica chi ha pietà dell'umile.	31 To oppress the weak insults the Creator, kindness to the needy honours the Creator.
32 Dalla sua malizia è rovinato l'empio, ma pur nella sua morte il giusto è fiducioso.	32 For evil-doing, the wicked wil be flung headlong, but in integrity the upright wil find refuge.
33 Nel cuore intelligente risiede la sapienza, ma non si conoscerà nel seno degli stolti.	33 Wisdom resides in an understanding heart; she is not to be found in the hearts of fools.
34 La giustizia innalza una nazione, vergogna per i popoli è il peccato.	34 Uprightness makes a nation great, by sin whole races are disgraced.
35 Il re si compiace d'un servo intelligente, la sua collera è per chi lo disonora.	35 A king shows favour to a wise minister, but anger to one who shames him.
