| 1 Os exhorto, pues, hermanos, por la misericordia de Dios, a que presentéis vuestros cuerpos como sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios; este es vuestro culto espiritual. | 1 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the mercy of God, that you offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, with the subservience of your mind. |
| 2 Y no os amoldéis a este mundo, sino transformaos por la renovación de la mente, para que sepáis discernir cuál es la voluntad de Dios, qué es lo bueno, lo que le agrada, lo perfecto. | 2 And do not choose to be conformed to this age, but instead choose to be reformed in the newness of your mind, so that you may demonstrate what is the will of God: what is good, and what is well-pleasing, and what is perfect. |
| 3 Por la gracia de Dios que me ha sido dada os digo a todos y a cada uno de vosotros: No os estiméis en más de lo que conviene, sino estimaos moderadamente, según la medida de la fe que Dios otorgó a cada cual. | 3 For I say, through the grace that has been given to me, to all who are among you: Taste no more than it is necessary to taste, but taste unto sobriety and just as God has distributed a share of the faith to each one. |
| 4 Pues, así como en un solo cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros, y no todos los miembros cumplen la misma función, | 4 For just as, within one body, we have many parts, though all the parts do not have the same role, |
| 5 así nosotros, siendo muchos, somos un solo cuerpo en Cristo, pero cada cual existe en relación con los otros miembros. | 5 so also we, being many, are one body in Christ, and each one is a part, the one of the other. |
| 6 Teniendo dones diferentes, según la gracia que se nos ha dado, deben ejercerse así: la profecía, de acuerdo con la regla de la fe; | 6 And we each have different gifts, according to the grace that has been given to us: whether prophecy, in agreement with the reasonableness of faith; |
| 7 el servicio, dedicándose a servir; el que enseña, aplicándose a la enseñanza; | 7 or ministry, in ministering; or he who teaches, in doctrine; |
| 8 el que exhorta, ocupándose en la exhortación; el que se dedica a distribuir los bienes, hágalo con generosidad; el que preside, con solicitud; el que hace obras de misericordia, con gusto. | 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, in simplicity; he who governs, in solicitude; he who shows mercy, in cheerfulness. |
| 9 Que vuestro amor no sea fingido; aborreciendo lo malo, apegaos a lo bueno. | 9 Let love be without falseness: hating evil, clinging to what is good, |
| 10 Amaos cordialmente unos a otros; que cada cual estime a los otros más que a sí mismo; | 10 loving one another with fraternal charity, surpassing one another in honor: |
| 11 en la actividad, no seáis negligentes; en el espíritu, manteneos fervorosos, sirviendo constantemente al Señor. | 11 in solicitude, not lazy; in spirit, fervent; serving the Lord; |
| 12 Que la esperanza os tenga alegres; manteneos firmes en la tribulación, sed asiduos en la oración; | 12 in hope, rejoicing; in tribulation, enduring; in prayer, ever-willing; |
| 13 compartid las necesidades de los santos; practicad la hospitalidad. | 13 in the difficulties of the saints, sharing; in hospitality, attentive. |
| 14 Bendecid a los que os persiguen; bendecid, sí, no maldigáis. | 14 Bless those who are persecuting you: bless, and do not curse. |
| 15 Alegraos con los que están alegres; llorad con los que lloran. | 15 Rejoice with those who are rejoicing. Weep with those who are weeping. |
| 16 Tened la misma consideración y trato unos con otros, sin pretensiones de grandeza, sino poniéndoos al nivel de la gente humilde. No os tengáis por sabios. | 16 Be of the same mind toward one another: not savoring what is exalted, but consenting in humility. Do not choose to seem wise to yourself. |
| 17 A nadie devolváis mal por mal. Procurad lo bueno ante toda la gente. | 17 Render to no one harm for harm. Provide good things, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of all men. |
| 18 En la medida de lo posible y en lo que dependa de vosotros, manteneos en paz con todo el mundo. | 18 If it is possible, in so far as you are able, be at peace with all men. |
| 19 No os toméis la venganza por vuestra cuenta, queridos; dejad más bien lugar a la justicia, pues está escrito: Mía es la venganza, yo daré lo merecido, dice el Señor. | 19 Do not defend yourselves, dearest ones. Instead, step aside from wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is mine. I shall give retribution, says the Lord.” |
| 20 Por el contrario, si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer; si tiene sed, dale de beber: actuando así amontonarás ascuas sobre su cabeza. | 20 So if an enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in doing so, you will heap burning coals upon his head. |
| 21 No te dejes vencer por el mal, antes bien vence al mal con el bien. | 21 Do not allow evil to prevail, instead prevail over evil by means of goodness. |
