| 1 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Mira, te hago ser un dios para el faraón; y Aarón, tu hermano, será tu profeta. | 1 And the Lord said to Moses: Behold I have appointed thee the God of Pharao: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. |
| 2 Tú dirás todo lo que yo te mande y Aarón dirá al faraón que deje salir a los hijos de Israel de su tierra. | 2 Thou shalt speak to him all that I command thee; and he shall speak to Pharao, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. |
| 3 Yo endureceré el corazón del faraón y multiplicaré mis signos y prodigios contra la tierra de Egipto. | 3 But I shall harden his heart, and shall multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, |
| 4 El faraón no os hará caso, pero yo extenderé mi mano contra Egipto y sacaré de la tierra de Egipto con grandes castigos a mis escuadrones, a mi pueblo, los hijos de Israel; | 4 And he will not hear you: and I will lay my hand upon Egypt, and will bring forth my army and my people the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, by very great judgments. |
| 5 y así sabrán los egipcios que yo soy el Señor cuando extienda mi mano contra Egipto y saque a los hijos de Israel de en medio de ellos». | 5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, who have stretched forth my hand upon Egypt, and have brought forth the children of Israel out of the midst of them. |
| 6 Moisés y Aarón hicieron así; hicieron exactamente como el Señor les había mandado. | 6 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord had commanded: so did they. |
| 7 Moisés tenía ochenta años y Aarón ochenta y tres, cuando hablaron al faraón. | 7 And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three, when they spoke to Pharao. |
| 8 El Señor dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: | 8 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron: |
| 9 «Cuando os diga el faraón que hagáis algún prodigio, le dirás a Aarón: “Toma tu bastón y tíralo delante del faraón, y se convertirá en una serpiente”». | 9 When Pharao shall say to you, Shew signs: thou shalt say to Aaron: Take thy rod, and cast it down before Pharao, and it shall be turned into a serpent. |
| 10 Moisés y Aarón se presentaron al faraón e hicieron lo que el Señor les había mandado. Aarón tiró el bastón delante del faraón y sus ministros, y se convirtió en una serpiente. | 10 So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharao, and did as the Lord had commanded. And Aaron took the rod before Pharao, and his servants, and it was turned into a serpent. |
| 11 El faraón llamó a sus sabios y hechiceros, y los magos de Egipto hicieron lo mismo con sus encantamientos: | 11 And Pharao called the wise men and the magicians: and they also by Egyptian enchantments and certain secrets did in like manner. |
| 12 cada uno tiró su bastón, y se convirtieron en serpientes; pero el bastón de Aarón se tragó los otros bastones. | 12 And they every one cast down their rods, and they were turned into serpents: but Aaron's rod devoured their rods. |
| 13 Sin embargo, el corazón del faraón se endureció y no les hizo caso, como había anunciado el Señor. | 13 And Pharao's heart was hardened, and he did not hearken to them, as the Lord had commanded. |
| 14 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «El corazón del faraón se ha obstinado; se niega a dejar marchar al pueblo. | 14 And the Lord said to Moses: Pharao's heart is hardened, he will not let the people go. |
| 15 Preséntate al faraón por la mañana, cuando salga al río, y espéralo a la orilla del Nilo, llevando en tu mano el bastón que se convirtió en serpiente. | 15 Go to him in the morning, behold he will go out to the waters: and thou shalt stand to meet him on the bank of the river: and thou shalt take in thy hand the rod that was turned into a serpent. |
| 16 Dile: “El Señor, el Dios de los hebreos, me ha enviado a ti con este encargo: Deja salir a mi pueblo, para que me rinda culto en el desierto; pero hasta ahora no has hecho caso. | 16 And thou shalt say to him: The Lord God of the Hebrews sent me to thee saying: Let my people go to sacrifice to me in the desert: and hitherto thou wouldst not hear. |
| 17 Así dice el Señor: “En esto conocerás que yo soy el Señor: con el bastón que llevo en la mano golpearé el agua del Nilo y se convertirá en sangre. | 17 Thus therefore saith the Lord: In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold I will strike with the rods that is in my hand, the water of the river, and it shall be turned into blood. |
| 18 Los peces del Nilo morirán, el río apestará y los egipcios no podrán beber el agua del Nilo”». | 18 And the fishes that are in the river shall die, and the waters shall be corrupted, and the Egyptians shall be afflicted when they drink the water of the river. |
| 19 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón: Toma tu bastón y extiende la mano sobre las aguas de Egipto: sobre sus ríos, canales, estanques y aljibes, y el agua se convertirá en sangre. Y habrá sangre por todo Egipto: en las vasijas de madera y en las de piedra». | 19 The Lord also said to Moses: Say to Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch forth thy hand upon the waters of Egypt, and upon their rivers, and streams and pools, and all the ponds of waters, that they may be turned into blood: and let blood be in all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and of stone. |
| 20 Moisés y Aarón hicieron lo que el Señor les había mandado. Levantó el bastón y golpeó el agua del Nilo a la vista del faraón y de su corte. Toda el agua del Nilo se convirtió en sangre. | 20 And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord had commanded: and lifting up the rod he struck the water of the river before Pharao and his servants: and it was turned into blood. |
| 21 Los peces del Nilo murieron, el río apestaba y los egipcios no podían beber agua del Nilo. Y hubo sangre por toda la tierra de Egipto. | 21 And the fishes that were in the river died: and the river corrupted, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river, and there was blood in all the land of Egypt. |
| 22 Los magos de Egipto hicieron lo mismo con sus encantamientos, de modo que el corazón del faraón se obstinó y no les hizo caso, como había anunciado el Señor. | 22 And the magicians of the Egyptians with their enchantments did in like manner: and Pharao's heart was hardened, neither did he hear them, as the Lord had commanded. |
| 23 El faraón se volvió y entró en su palacio, sin tomar en serio la cosa. | 23 And he turned himself away and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to it this time also. |
| 24 Los egipcios cavaban a los lados del Nilo buscando agua de beber, pues no podían beber el agua del Nilo. | 24 And all the Egyptians dug round about the river for water to drink: for they could not drink of the water of the river. |
| 25 Y se cumplieron siete días desde que el Señor mandó golpear el Nilo. | 25 And seven days were fully ended, after that the Lord struck the river. |
| 26 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Preséntate al faraón y dile: “Así dice el Señor: Deja marchar a mi pueblo para que me rinda culto. | |
| 27 Si te niegas a dejarlo marchar, yo infestaré toda tu tierra de ranas. | |
| 28 Pulularán las ranas en el Nilo, saltarán y se meterán en tu palacio, en tu alcoba y en tu lecho, en las casas de tus servidores y entre tu pueblo, en tus hornos y artesas. | |
| 29 Saltarán, pues, las ranas sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre tus servidores”». | |
