Amós 3

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Escuchad esta palabra que dice Yahveh contra vosotros, hijos de Israel, contra toda la familia que yo hice subir del país de Egipto:	1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt:
2 Solamente a vosotros conocí de todas las familias de la tierra; por eso yo os visitaré por todas vuestras culpas.	2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings.
3 Caminan acaso dos juntos, sin haberse encontrado?	3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so?
4 ¿Ruge el león en la selva sin que haya presa para él? ¿Lanza el leoncillo su voz desde su cubil, si no ha atrapado algo?	4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing?
5 ¿Cae un pájaro a tierra en el lazo, sin que haya una trampa para él? ¿Se alza del suelo el lazo sin haber hecho presa?	5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something?
6 ¿Suena el cuerno en una ciudad sin que el pueblo se estremezca? ¿Cae en una ciudad el infortunio sin que Yahveh lo haya causado?	6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it?
7 No, no hace nada el Señor Yahveh sin revelar su secreto a sus siervos los profetas.	7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
8 Ruge el león, ¿quién no temerá? Habla el Señor Yahveh, ¿quién no profetizará?	8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy?
9 Pregonad en los palacios de Asur, y en los palacios del país de Egipto; decid: ¡Congregaos contra los montes de Samaria, y ved cuántos desórdenes en ella, cuánta violencia en su seno!	9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!'
10 No saben obrar con rectitud - oráculo de Yahveh - los que amontonan violencia y rapiña en sus palacios.	10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion.
11 Por eso, así dice el Señor Yahveh: El adversario invadirá la tierra, abatirá tu fortaleza y serán saqueados tus palacios.	11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted.
12 Así dice Yahveh: Como salva el pastor de la boca del león dos patas o la punta de una oreja, así se salvarán los hijos de Israel, los que se sientan en Samaria, en el borde de un lecho y en un diván de Damasco.	12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus.
13 Oíd y atestiguad contra la casa de Jacob - oráculo del Señor Yahveh, Dios Sebaot -	13 Listen and testify against the House of Jacob -declares the Lord Yahweh, God Sabaoth-
14 que el día que yo visite a Israel por sus rebeldías, visitaré los altares de Betel; serán derribados los cuernos del altar y caerán por tierra.	14 the day when I punish Israel for his crimes I shal also punish the altars of Bethel; the horns of thealtar wil be hacked off and wil fal to the ground.
15 Sacudiré la casa de invierno con la casa de verano, se acabarán las casas de marfil, y muchas casas desaparecerán, oráculo de Yahveh.	15 I shall blast winter house with summer house, ivory houses wil be destroyed and many mansionscease to be -declares Yahweh.
