BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ¡Tocad el cuerno en Sión, clamad en mi monte santo! ¡Tiemblen todos los habitantes del país, porque llega el Día de Yahveh, porque está cerca!	1 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everybody in the countrytremble, for the Day of Yahweh is coming, yes, it is near.
2 ¡Día de tinieblas y de oscuridad, día de nublado y densa niebla! Como la aurora sobre los montes se despliega un pueblo numeroso y fuerte, como jamás hubo otro, ni lo habrá después de él en años de generación en generación.	2 Day of darkness and gloom, Day of cloud and blackness. Like the dawn, across the mountains spreadsa vast and mighty people, such as has never been before, such as wil never be again to the remotest ages.
3 Delante de él devora el fuego, detrás de él la llama abrasa. Como un jardín de Edén era delante de él la tierra, detrás de él, un desierto desolado. ¡No hay escape ante él!	3 In their van a fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. The country is like a garden of Eden ahead ofthem and a desert waste behind them. Nothing escapes them.
4 Aspecto de corceles es su aspecto, como jinetes, así corren.	4 They look like horses, like chargers they gal op on,
5 Como estrépito de carros, por las cimas de los montes saltan, como el crepitar de la llama de fuego que devora hojarasca; ¡como un pueblo poderoso en orden de batalla!	5 with a racket like that of chariots they spring over the mountain tops, with a crackling like a blazing firedevouring the stubble, a mighty army in battle array.
6 Ante él se estremecen los pueblos, todos los rostros mudan de color.	6 At the sight of them, people are appal ed and every face grows pale.
7 Corren como bravos, como guerreros escalan las murallas; cada uno va por su camino, y no intercambian su ruta.	7 Like fighting men they press forward, like warriors they scale the wal s, each marching straight ahead,not turning from his path;
8 Nadie tropieza con su vecino, van cada cual por su calzada; a través de los dardos arremeten sin romper la formación.	8 they never jostle each other, each marches straight ahead: arrows fly, they stil press forward, neverbreaking ranks.
9 Sobre la ciudad se precipitan, corren por la muralla, hasta las casas suben, a través de las ventanas entran como ladrones.	9 They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto the wal s, swarm up the houses, getting in through thewindows like thieves.
10 ¡Ante él tiembla la tierra, se estremecen los cielos, el sol y la luna se oscurecen, y las estrellas retraen su fulgor!	10 As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, the stars lose theirbrilliance.
11 Ya da Yahveh la voz delante de su ejército, porque sus batallones son inmensos, porque es fuerte el ejecutor de su palabra, porque es grande el Día de Yahveh, y muy terrible: ¿quién lo soportará?	11 Yahweh's voice rings out at the head of his troops! For mighty indeed is his army, strong, the enforcerof his orders, for great is the Day of Yahweh, and very terrible -- who can face it?
12 «Mas ahora todavía - oráculo de Yahveh - volved a mí de todo corazón, con ayuno, con llantos, con lamentos».	12 'But now -- declares Yahweh- come back to me with al your heart, fasting, weeping, mourning.'
13 Desgarrad vuestro corazón y no vuestros vestidos, volved a Yahveh vuestro Dios, porque él es clemente y compasivo, tardo a la cólera, rico en amor, y se ablanda ante la desgracia.	13 Tear your hearts and not your clothes, and come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious andcompassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and he relents about inflicting disaster.
14 ¡Quién sabe si volverá y se ablandará, y dejará tras sí una bendición, oblación y libación a Yahveh vuestro Dios!	14 Who knows if he wil not come back, relent and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and alibation to be presented to Yahweh your God?
15 ¡Tocad el cuerno en Sión, promulgad un ayuno, llamad a concejo,	15 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion! Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,
16 congregad al pueblo, convocad la asamblea, reunid a los ancianos, congregad a los pequeños y a los niños de pecho! Deje el recién casado su alcoba y la recién casada su tálamo.	16 cal the people together, summon the community, assemble the elders, gather the children, eveninfants at the breast! Call the bridegroom from his bedroom and the bride from her bower!
17 Entre el vestíbulo y el altar lloren los sacerdotes, ministros de Yahveh, y digan: «¡Perdona, Yahveh, a tu pueblo, y no entregues tu heredad al oprobio a la irrisión de las naciones! ¿Por qué se ha de decir entre los pueblos: ¿Dónde está su Dios?»	17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, stand weeping between portico and altar, saying, 'Spare yourpeople, Yahweh! Do not expose your heritage to the contempt, to the sarcasm of the nations! Why give thepeoples cause to say, "Where is their God?" '
18 Y Yahveh se llenó de celo por su tierra, y tuvo piedad de su pueblo.	18 Then, becoming jealous over his country, Yahweh took pity on his people.
19 Respondió Yahveh y dijo a su pueblo: «He aquí que yo os envío grano, mosto y aceite virgen: os hartaréis de ello, y no os entregaré más al oprobio de las naciones.	19 Yahweh said in answer to his people, 'Now I shal send you wheat, wine and olive oil until you haveenough. Never again wil I expose you to the contempt of the nations.
20 Al que viene del Norte le alejaré de vosotros, y le echaré hacia una tierra de aridez y desolación: su vanguardia hacia el mar oriental, hacia el mar occidental su retaguardia. Y subirá su hedor, y subirá su fetidez». (¡Porque él hace grandezas!)	20 I shal take the northerner far away from you and drive him into an arid, desolate land, his vanguard tothe eastern sea, his rearguard to the western sea. He wil give off a stench, he wil give off a foul stink (for whathe made bold to do).'
21 No temas, suelo, jubila y regocíjate, porque Yahveh hace grandezas.	21 Land, do not be afraid; be glad, rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.
22 No temáis, bestias del campo, porque ya reverdecen los pastizales del desierto, los árboles producen su fruto, la higuera y la vid dan su riqueza.	22 Wild animals, do not be afraid; the desert pastures are green again, the trees bear fruit, vine and figtree yield their richness.
23 ¡Hijos de Sión, jubilad, alegraos en Yahveh vuestro Dios! Porque él os da la lluvia de otoño, con justa medida, y hace caer para vosotros aguacero de otoño y primavera como antaño.	23 Sons of Zion, be glad, rejoice in Yahweh your God; for he has given you autumn rain as justicedemands, and he wil send the rains down for you, the autumn and spring rain as of old.
24 Las eras se llenarán de trigo puro, de mosto y aceite virgen los lagares rebosarán.	24 The threshing-floors wil be ful of grain, the vats overflow with wine and oil.
25 «Yo os compensaré de los años en que os devoraron la langosta y el pulgón, el saltón y la oruga, mi gran ejército, que contra vosotros envié».	25 'I will make up to you for the years devoured by grown locust and hopper, by shearer and younglocust, my great army which I sent to invade you.
26 Comeréis en abundancia hasta hartaros, y alabaréis el nombre de Yahveh vuestro Dios, que hizo con vosotros maravillas. (¡Mi pueblo no será confundido jamás!)	26 'You will eat to your heart's content, and praise the name of Yahweh your God who has treated you sowonderful y. (My people will never be humiliated again!)
27 «Y sabréis que en medio de Israel estoy yo, ¡yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios, y no hay otro! ¡Y mi pueblo no será confundido jamás!»	27 'And you will know that I am among you in Israel, I, Yahweh your God, and no one else. My people willnever be humiliated again!'
