Isaías 9

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El pueblo que andaba a oscuras	1 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; on the inhabitants of a country in shadowdark as death light has blazed forth.
2 vio una luz grande. Los que vivían en tierra de sombras, una luz brilló sobre ellos. Acrecentaste el regocijo, hiciste grande la alegría. Alegría por tu presencia, cual la alegría en la siega, como se regocijan repartiendo botín.	2 You have enlarged the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice atharvest time, as they exult when they are dividing the spoils.
3 Porque el yugo que les pesaba y la pinga de su hombro - la vara de su tirano - has roto, como el día de Madián.	3 For the yoke that weighed on it, the bar across its shoulders, the rod of its oppressor, these you havebroken as on the day of Midian.

6 Grande es su señorío y la paz no tendrá fin sobre el trono de David y sobre su reino, para restaurarlo y consolidarlo por la equidad y la justicia, Desde ahora y hasta siempre, el celo de Yahveh Sebaot hará eso.	6 to extend his dominion in boundless peace, over the throne of David and over his kingdom to make itsecure and sustain it in fair judgement and integrity. 10 Pues bien, Yahveh ha dado ventaja a su adversario, Rasón, y azuzó a sus enemigos:	10 But, against them, Yahweh has raised their foe Razon, he has whipped up their enemies,
11 Aram por delante y los filisteos por detrás, devoraron a Israel a boca llena. Con todo eso no se ha calmado su ira, y aún sigue su mano extendida.	11 Aram to the east, Philistines to the west, to devour Israel with gaping jaws. After al this, his anger is notspent. No, his hand is still raised!
12 Pero el pueblo no se volvió hacia el que le castigaba, no buscaron a Yahveh Sebaot.	12 But the people would not come back to him who struck them, they would not seek out YahwehSabaoth;
13 Por eso ha cercenado Yahveh a Israel cabeza y cola, palmera y junco, en un mismo día.	13 hence Yahweh has topped and tailed Israel, cutting off palm and reed in a single day.

16 Por eso, de sus jóvenes no se apiadará el Señor, con sus huérfanos y viudas no tendrá misericordia, pues todos son impíos y malvados, y toda boca profiere majadería Con todo eso no se ha calmado su ira, y aún sigue su mano extendida.	16 Hence the Lord wil no longer take delight in their young people, or pity on their orphans and widows,since al of them are godless and evil, and everything they say is madness. After al this, his anger is not spent.No, his hand is still raised!
17 Porque ha ardido como fuego la maldad, zarza y espino devora, y va a prender en las espesuras del bosque: ya se estiran en columna de humo.	17 Yes, wickedness has been burning like a fire, devouring bramble and thorn-bush, setting the forestthickets ablaze -- up they go in bil owing smoke!
18 Por el arrebato de Yahveh la tierra ha sido quemada, y es el pueblo como pasto de fuego; nadie tiene piedad de su hermano,	18 The country has been set on fire by the fury of Yahweh Sabaoth, and the people are like food for theflames. No one spares a thought for his brother.
19 Corta a diestra y queda con hambre, come a siniestra y no se sacia; cada uno se come la carne de su brazo.	19 They have sliced to the right and are stil hungry, they have eaten to the left and are not satisfied; eachdevours the flesh of his own arm.
20 Manasés devora a Efraím Efraím a Manasés, y ambos a una van contra Judá. Con todo eso no se ha calmado su ira, y aún sigue su mano extendida.	20 Manasseh devours Ephraim, Ephraim Manasseh, together they turn against Judah. After al this, hisanger is not spent. No, his hand is still raised!
