Isaías 51

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Prestadme oído, seguidores de lo justo, los que buscáis a Yahveh. Reparad en la peña de donde fuisteis tallados, y en la cavidad de pozo de donde fuisteis excavados.	1 Listen to me, you who pursue saving justice, you who seek Yahweh. Consider the rock from which youwere hewn, the quarry from which you were dug.
2 Reparad en Abraham vuestro padre, y en Sara, que os dio a luz; pues uno solo era cuando le llamé, pero le bendije y le multipliqué.	2 Consider Abraham your father and Sarah who gave you birth. When I cal ed him he was the only onebut I blessed him and made him numerous.
3 Cuando haya consolado Yahveh a Sión, haya consolado todas sus ruinas y haya trocado el desierto en Edén y la estepa en Paraíso de Yahveh, recocijo y alegría se encontrarán en ella, alabanza y son de canciones.	3 Yes, Yahweh has pity on Zion, has pity on al her ruins; he wil turn her desert into an Eden and herwastelands into the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness wil be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound ofmusic.
4 Préstame atención, pueblo mío, mi nación, escúchame; que una instrucción saldrá de mí, y juicio mío para luz de las naciones. Inminente,	4 Pay attention to me, my people, listen to me, my nation, for a law will come from me, and I shall makemy saving justice the light of peoples.
5 cercana está mi justicia, saldrá mi liberación, y mis brazos juzgarán a los pueblos. Las islas esperan en mí y cuentan con mi brazo.	5 My justice is suddenly approaching, my salvation appears, my arm is about to judge the peoples. Thecoasts and islands wil put their hope in me and put their trust in my arm.
6 Alzad a los cielos vuestros ojos y contemplad la tierra abajo, pues los cielos como humareda se disiparán, la tierra como un vestido se gastará y sus moradores como el mosquito morirán. Pero mi salvación por siempre será, y mi justicia se mantendrá intacta.	6 Raise your eyes to the heavens, look down at the earth; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, theearth wear out like clothing and its inhabitants die like vermin, but my salvation wil last for ever and my savingjustice remain inviolable.
7 Prestadme oído, sabedores de lo justo, pueblo consciente de mi ley. No temáis las injurias de los hombres, y de sus ultrajes no os asustéis;	7 Listen to me, you who know what saving justice means, a people who take my laws to heart: do notfear people's taunts, do not be alarmed by their insults,
8 pues como un vestido se los comerá la polilla, y como lana los comerá la tiña. Pero mi justicia por siempre será, y mi salvación por generaciones de generaciones.	8 for the moth wil eat them like clothing, the grub wil devour them like wool, but my saving justice willast for ever and my salvation for al generations.
9 ¡Despierta, despierta, revístete de poderío, oh brazo de Yahveh! ¡Despierta como en los días de antaño, en las generaciones pasadas! ¿No eres tú el que partió a Ráhab, el que atravesó al Dragón?	9 Awake, awake! Clothe yourself in strength, arm of Yahweh. Awake, as in the olden days, generationslong ago! Was it not you who split Rahab in half, who pierced the Dragon through?
10 ¿No eres tú el que secó la Mar, las aguas del gran Océano, el que trocó las honduras del mar en camino para que pasasen los rescatados?	10 Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great Abyss; who made the sea-bed into a roadfor the redeemed to go across?
11 Los redimidos de Yahveh volverán, entrarán en Sión entre aclamaciones, y habrá alegría eterna sobre sus cabezas. ¡Regocijo y alegría les acompañarán! ¡Adios, el penar y suspiros!	11 This is why those whom Yahweh has ransomed wil return, they wil enter Zion shouting for joy, theirheads crowned with a joy unending; joy and gladness wil escort them and sorrow and sighing wil take flight.
12 Yo, yo soy tu consolador. ¿Quién eres tú, que tienes miedo del mortal y del hijo del hombre, al heno equiparado?	12 I, I am your consoler. Why then should you be afraid of mortal human beings, of a child of man, whosefate is that of the grass?
13 Olvidas a Yahveh, tu hacedor, el que extendió los cielos y cimentó la tierra; y te estás depavorido todo a lo largo del día ante la furia del opresor, en cuanto se aplica a destruir. Pues ¿dónde está esa furia del opresor?	13 You forget about Yahweh your Creator who spread out the heavens and laid the earth's foundations;you have never stopped trembling al day long before the fury of the oppressor when he was bent on destruction.Where is the oppressor's fury now?
14 Pronto saldrá libre el que está en la cárcel, no morirá en la hoya, no le faltará el pan.	14 The despairing captive is soon to be set free; he will not die in the dungeon, nor wil his food run out.
15 Yo soy Yahveh tu Dios, que agito el mar y hago bramar sus olas; Yahveh Sebaot es mi nombre.	15 I am Yahweh your God who stirs up the sea, making its waves roar -- Yahweh Sabaoth is my name.
16 Yo he puesto mis palabras en tu boca y te he escondido a la sombra de mi mano, cuando extendía los cielos y cimentaba la tierra, diciendo a Sión: «Mi pueblo eres tú».	16 I put my words into your mouth, I hid you in the shadow of my hand, to spread out the heavens andlay the earth's foundations and say to Zion, 'You are my people.'
17 ¡Despierta, despierta! ¡Levántate, Jerusalén! Tú, que has bebido de mano de Yahveh la copa de su ira. El cáliz del vértigo has bebido hasta vaciarlo.	17 Awake, awake! To your feet, Jerusalem! You who from Yahweh's hand have drunk the cup of hiswrath. The chalice, the stupefying cup, you have drained to the dregs.
18 No hay quien la guíe de entre todos los hijos que ha dado a luz, no hay quien la tome de la mano de entre todos los hijos que ha criado.	18 There is no one to guide her of al the children she has borne, no one to grasp her hand of al thechildren she has reared.
19 Estas dos cosas te han acaecido - ¿quién te conduele? - saqueo y quebranto, hambre y espada - ¿quién te consuela? -	19 Double disaster has befal en you -- who is there to sympathise? Pillage and ruin, famine and sword --who is there to console you?
20 Tus hijos desfallecen, yacen, en la esquina de todas las calles como antílope en la red, llenos de la ira de Yahveh, de la amenaza de tu Dios.	20 Your children are lying helpless at the end of every street like an antelope trapped in a net; they arefilled to the brim with Yahweh's wrath, with the rebuke of your God.
21 Por eso, escucha esto, pobrecilla, ebria, pero no de vino.	21 So listen to this, afflicted one, drunk, though not with wine.
22 Así dice tu Señor Yahveh, tu Dios, defensor de tu pueblo. Mira que yo te quito de la mano la copa del vértigo, el cáliz de mi ira; ya no tendrás que seguir bebiéndolo.	22 Thus says your Lord Yahweh, your God, defender of your people: Look, I am taking the stupefyingcup from your hand, the chalice, the cup of my wrath, you wil not have to drink again.
23 Yo lo pondré en la mano de los que te afligían, de los que a ti misma te decían: «Póstrate para que pasemos», y tú pusiste tu espalda como suelo y como calle de los que pasaban.	23 I shal hand it to your tormentors who used to say to you, 'On the ground! So that we can walk overyou!' And you would flatten your back like the ground, like a street for them to walk on.
