Isaías 5

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Voy a cantar a mi amigo la canción de su amor por su viña. Una viña tenía mi amigo en un fértil otero.	1 Let me sing my beloved the song of my friend for his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertilehil side.
2 La cavó y despedregó, y la plantó de cepa exquisita. Edificó una torre en medio de ella, y además excavó en ella un lagar. Y esperó que diese uvas, pero dio agraces.	2 He dug it, cleared it of stones, and planted it with red grapes. In the middle he built a tower, he hewed apress there too. He expected it to yield fine grapes: wild grapes were all it yielded.
3 Ahora, pues, habitantes de Jerusalén y hombres de Judá, venid a juzgar entre mi viña y yo:	3 And now, citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, I ask you to judge between me and my vineyard.
4 ¿Qué más se puede hacer ya a mi viña, que no se lo haya hecho yo? Yo esperaba que diese uvas. ¿Por qué ha dado agraces?	4 What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not done? Why, when I expected it to yield finegrapes, has it yielded wild ones?
5 Ahora, pues, voy a haceros saber, lo que hago yo a mi viña: quitar su seto, y será quemada; desportillar su cerca, y será pisoteada.	5 Very wel , I shal tel you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I shal take away its hedge, for it to begrazed on, and knock down its wal , for it to be trampled on.
6 Haré de ella un erial que ni se pode ni se escarde. crecerá la zarza y el espino, y a las nubes prohibiré llover sobre ella.	6 I shall let it go to waste, unpruned, undug, overgrown by brambles and thorn-bushes, and I shallcommand the clouds to rain no rain on it.
7 Pues bien, viña de Yahveh Sebaot es la Casa de Israel, y los hombres de Judá son su plantío exquisito. Esperaba de ellos justicia, y hay iniquidad; honradez, y hay alaridos.	7 Now, the vineyard of Yahweh Sabaoth is the House of Israel, and the people of Judah the plant hecherished. He expected fair judgement, but found injustice, uprightness, but found cries of distress.
8 ¡Ay, los que juntáis casa con casa, y campo a campo anexionáis, hasta ocupar todo el sitio y quedaros solos en medio del país!	8 Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field until there is nowhere left and they are thesole inhabitants of the country.
9 Así ha jurado a mis oídos Yahveh Sebaot: «¡Han de quedar desiertas muchas casas; grandes y hermosas, pero sin moradores!	9 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn this in my hearing, 'Many houses wil be brought to ruin, great and fine ones left untenanted;
10 Porque diez yugadas de viña darán sólo una medida, y una carga de simiente producirá una medida».	10 for ten acres of vineyard wil yield only one barrel, and ten bushel of seed wil yield only one bushel.'
11 ¡Ay, los que despertando por la mañana andan tras el licor; los que trasnochan, encandilados por el vino!	11 Woe to those who get up early to go after strong drink, and stay up late at night inflamed with wine.
12 Sólo hay arpas y cítaras, pandero y flauta en sus libaciones, y no contemplan la obra de Yahveh, no ven la acción de sus manos.	12 Nothing but harp and lyre, tambourine and pipe, and wine for their drinking bouts. Never a thought forthe works of Yahweh, never a glance for what his hands have done.
13 Por eso fue deportado mi pueblo sin sentirlo, sus notables estaban muertos de hambre, y su plebe se resecaba de sed.	13 That is why my people is in exile, for want of perception; her dignitaries starving, her populace parchedwith thirst.
14 Por eso ensanchó el seol su seno dilató su boca sin medida, y a él baja su nobleza y su plebe y su turba gozosa.	14 That is why Sheol opens wide its throat and gapes with measureless jaw and down go her noblemenand populace and her loud revellers merry to the last!
15 Se humilla el hombre, se abaja el varón, los ojos de los altivos son abajados;	15 Human nature has been humbled, humankind brought low, and the eyes of the proud have beenhumbled.
16 es ensalzado Yahveh Sebaot en jucio, el Dios Santo muestra su santidad por su justicia.	16 Yahweh Sabaoth is the more respected for his judgement, God the Holy One has displayed hisholiness by his justice!
17 Pacerán los corderos como en su pastizal, y entre las ruinas gordos cabritos ramonearán.	17 Now the lambs wil graze in their old pastures, and the fields laid waste by fat cattle wil feed the kids.
18 ¡Ay, los que arrastran la culpa con coyundas de engaños y el pecado como con bridas de novilla!	18 Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;
19 Los que dicen: «¡Listo, apresure su acción, de modo que la veamos. Acérquese y venga el plan del Santo de Israel, y que lo sepamos!»	19 to those who say, 'Why doesn't he do his work quickly so that we can see it; why doesn't the Holy Oneof Israel's design hurry up and come true so that we can experience it?'
20 ¡Ay, los que llaman al mal bien, y al bien mal; que dan oscuridad por luz, y luz por oscuridad; que dan amargo por dulce, y dulce por amargo!	20 Woe to those who cal what is bad, good, and what is good, bad, who substitute darkness for light andlight for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
21 ¡Ay, los sabios a sus propios ojos, y para sí mismos discretos!	21 Woe to those who think themselves wise and believe themselves enlightened.
22 ¡Ay, los campeones en beber vino, los valientes para escanciar licor,	22 Woe to those whose might lies in wine bibbing, their heroism in mixing strong drinks,
23 los que absuelven al malo por soborno y quitan al justo su derecho.	23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deny justice to the upright.
24 Tal devora las espigas una lengua de fuego y el heno en llamas se derrumba: la raíz de ellos será como podre, y su flor subirá como tamo. Pues recusaron la enseñanza de Yahveh Sebaot y despreciaron el dicho del Santo de Israel.	24 Yes, as the flame devours the stubble, as the straw flares up and disappears, their root wil be likedecay and their shoot be carried off like dust, for having rejected the law of Yahweh Sabaoth, for havingdespised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Por eso se ha encendido la ira de Yahveh contra su pueblo, extendió su mano sobre él y le golpeó. Y mató a los príncipes: sus cadáveres yacían como basura en medio de las calles. Con todo eso, no se ha calmado su ira, y aún sigue extendida su mano.	25 This is why Yahweh's anger has blazed out against his people; and he has raised his hand againstthem to strike them; why the mountains have shuddered and why corpses are lying like dung in the streets. Afteral this, his anger is not spent. No, his hand is stil raised!
26 Iza bandera a un pueblo desde lejos y le silba desde los confines de la tierra: vedlo aquí, rápido, viene ligero.	26 He hoists a signal for a distant nation, he whistles them up from the ends of the earth; and see howswift, how fleet they come!
27 No hay en él quien se canse y tropiece, quien se duerma y se amodorre; nadie se suelta el cinturón de los lomos, ni se rompe la correa de su calzado.	27 None of them tired, none of them stumbling, none of them asleep or drowsy, none of them with beltunfastened, none of them with broken sandal-strap.
28 Sus saetas son agudas y todos sus arcos están tensos. Los cascos de sus caballos semejan pedernal y sus ruedas, torbellino.	28 Their arrows are sharpened, their bows al strung, their horses' hoofs you would think were flint andtheir wheels, a whirlwind!
29 Tiene un rugido como de leona, ruge como los cachorros, brama y agarra la presa, la arrebata, y no hay quien la libre.	29 Their roar is like that of a lioness, like fierce young lions they roar, growling they seize their prey andcarry it off, with no one to prevent it,
30 Bramará contra él aquel día como el bramido del mar, y oteará la tierra, y habrá densa oscuridad, pues la luz se habrá oscurecido en la espesa tiniebla.	30 growling at it, that day, like the growling of the sea. Only look at the country: darkness and distress, andthe light turned to darkness by the clouds.
