BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Josías celebró una Pascua en honor de Yahveh en Jerusalén; inmolaron la Pascua el día catorce del primer mes.	1 Josiah then celebrated a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. The Passover victims were slaughteredon the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Restableció a los sacerdotes en sus ministerios y los animó al servicio de la Casa de Yahveh.	2 He assigned the priests to their posts, encouraging them to do their duty in the Temple of Yahweh.
3 Dijo a los levitas que tenían inteligencia para todo Israel y estaban consagrados a Yahveh: «Colocad el arca santa en la Casa que edificó Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel, porque ya no habréis de llevarla a hombros; servid ahora a Yahveh vuestro Dios y a Israel, su pueblo.	3 Then he said to the Levites, who had understanding for al Israel and were consecrated to Yahweh,'Put the sacred ark in the Temple built by Solomon son of David, king of Israel. You need not carry it about on your shoulders any more. Now serve Yahweh your God and Israel his people!
4 Estad preparados según vuestras casas paternas y vuestras clases, conforme a lo escrito por David, rey de Israel, y lo escrito por su hijo Salomón.	4 Prepare yourselves by families according to your orders, as laid down in the decree of David king ofIsrael and that of Solomon his son,
5 Ocupad vuestros sitios en el santuario según los grupos de casas paternas a disposición de vuestros hermanos, los hijos del pueblo; los levitas tendrán parte en la familia paterna.	5 and take up positions in the sanctuary corresponding to the family divisions of your brothers the laity,so that there are Levites for each family division.
6 E inmolad la Pascua, santificaos y preparadla para vuestros hermanos, cumpliendo la orden de Yahveh, dada por medio de Moisés.	6 Slaughter the Passover, sanctify yourselves and prepare it so that your brothers can observe it in theway the word of Yahweh through Moses requires.'
7 Josías reservó para la gente del pueblo ganado menor, así corderos como cabritos, en número de 30.000, todos ellos como víctimas pascuales para cuantos se hallaban presentes, y 3.000 bueyes. Todo ello de la hacienda del rey.	7 For the laity Josiah provided small livestock, that is, lambs and young goats -- everything for thePassover offerings for al who attended -- to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand bul ocks;these were from the king's own possessions.
8 También sus jefes reservaron ofrendas voluntarias para el pueblo, los sacerdotes y los levitas. Jilquías, Zacarías y Yejiel, intendentes de la Casa de Dios, dieron a los sacerdotes, como víctimas pascuales, 2.600 ovejas y trescientos bueyes.	8 His officials also made voluntary contributions for the people, the priests and the Levites; and Hilkiah,Zechariah and Jehiel, the chiefs of the Temple of God, gave two thousand six hundred lambs and three hundredbullocks to the priests for the Passover offerings;
9 Konanías, Semaías y Natanael, su hermano, y Jasabías, Yeiel y Yozabad, jefes de los levitas, reservaron para los levitas 5.000 corderos pascuales y quinientos bueyes.	9 while Conaniah, Shemaiah, Nethanel his brother, Hashabiah, Jeiel and Jozabad, the head Levites,provided five thousand lambs and five hundred bul ocks as Passover offerings for the Levites.
10 Preparado así el servicio, ocuparon los sacerdotes sus puestos, lo mismo que los levitas, según sus clases, conforme al mandato del rey.	10 So the service was arranged, the priests stood in their places and the Levites in their orders as theking had commanded.
11 Se inmolaron las víctimas pascuales, y mientras los sacerdotes rociaban con la sangre que recibían de mano de los levitas, los levitas las desollaban	11 Then they slaughtered the Passover victims and while the priests sprinkled the blood as theyreceived it from the Levites, the latter did the skinning.
12 y apartaban lo destinado al holocausto para darlo a las secciones de las casas paternas de los hijos del pueblo, a fin de que lo ofreciesen a Yahveh conforme a lo escrito en el libro de Moisés. Lo mismo se hizo con los bueyes.	12 Next they put the burnt offering aside for presentation to the family divisions of the laity, so that theycould offer it to Yahweh in the way prescribed in the Book of Moses; they did the same with the bul ocks.
13 Asaron la Pascua al fuego, según el ritual; cocieron las cosas sagradas en ollas, calderos y cazuelas, y las repartieron con presteza entre todos los hijos del pueblo.	13 They roasted the Passover victim over an open fire in accordance with the regulation and boiled theconsecrated offerings in pots, kettles and pans, which they then distributed to al the laity as quickly as theycould.
14 Después prepararon la Pascua para sí y para los sacerdotes; porque los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, estuvieron ocupados hasta la noche en ofrecer los holocaustos y las grasas. Por eso los levitas la prepararon para sí y para los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón.	14 Afterwards they provided for themselves and the priests, since the Aaronite priests were kept busy tilnightfall making the burnt offerings and offering the fat; that was why the Levites prepared the Passover forthemselves and for the Aaronite priests.
15 También los cantores, hijos de Asaf, estaban en su puesto, conforme a lo dispuesto por David, Asaf, Hemán y Yedutún, vidente del rey; lo mismo los porteros, cada uno en su puerta. No tenían necesidad de retirarse de su servicio, porque sus hermanos, los levitas, se lo preparaban todo.	15 The Asaphite singers were at their places, in accordance with the command of David and Asaph,Heman and Jeduthun the king's seer; so were the gatekeepers at each gate. Because they could not leave theirduties, their brothers the Levites prepared the Passover for them.
16 De esta manera se organizó aquel día todo el servicio de Yahveh para celebrar la Pascua y ofrecer los holocaustos sobre el altar de Yahveh, según la orden del rey Josías.	16 So the whole service of Yahweh was arranged that day to celebrate the Passover and to bring burntofferings on the altar of Yahweh, in accordance with King Josiah's command.
17 Los israelitas que se hallaban allí celebraron en ese tiempo la Pascua y la fiesta de los Azimos durante siete días.	17 On that occasion the Israelites who were present celebrated the Passover and the feast ofUnleavened Bread for seven days.
18 No se había celebrado Pascua como ésta en Israel desde los días de Samuel, profeta; y ningún rey de Israel celebró una Pascua como la que celebraron Josías, los sacerdotes y los levitas, todo Judá e Israel, que allí se hallaban presentes, y los habitantes de Jerusalén.	18 No Passover like this one had ever been celebrated in Israel since the days of the prophet Samuel,nor had any of the kings of Israel ever celebrated a Passover like the one celebrated by Josiah, the priests, theLevites, al Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 Esta Pascua se celebró el año dieciocho del reinado de Josías.	19 This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign.
20 Después de todo lo que hizo para reparar el Templo, subió Nekó, rey de Egipto, para combatir en Karkemis, junto al Eufrates; y Josías le salió al encuentro.	20 After all this, when Josiah had provided for the Temple, Necho king of Egypt advanced to give battleat Carchemish on the Euphrates and Josiah went to intercept him.
21 Nekó le envió mensajeros para decirle: «¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo, rey de Judá? No he venido hoy contra ti, sino contra la casa con la cual estoy en guerra; y Dios me ha mandado que me apresure. Deja de oponerte a Dios, que está conmigo, no sea que él te destruya».	21 Necho however sent him messengers to say, 'Why be concerned about me, king of Judah? I havenot come today to attack you; my quarrel is with another dynasty. God has commanded me to move quickly, sokeep wel clear of the god who is with me!'
22 Pero Josías no se apartó de él, pues estaba decidido a darle batalla, sin escuchar las palabras de Nekó, que venían de boca de Dios. Y avanzó para librar batalla en la llanura de Meguiddó.	22 But Josiah was not to be deflected from his determination to fight him, and would not listen toNecho's words, which came from the mouth of God. He gave battle in the plain of Megiddo.
23 Los arqueros tiraron contra el rey Josías, y dijo el rey a sus siervos: «Llevadme fuera, pues estoy gravemente herido».	23 The archers shot King Josiah. The king then said to his retainers, 'Take me away; I am badlywounded.'
24 Sus siervos le sacaron del carro, y pasándole a otro carro que tenía, le llevaron a Jerusalén, donde murió. Fue sepultado en los sepulcros de sus padres y todo Judá y Jerusalén hicieron duelo por Josías.	24 So his retainers lifted him out of his own chariot, transferred him to one which he had in reserve andbrought him to Jerusalem, where he died and was buried in the tombs of his ancestors. Al Judah and Jerusalemheld mourning for Josiah.
25 Jeremías compuso una elegía sobre Josías, y todos los cantores y cantoras hablan todavía hoy de Josías en sus elegías; lo cual se ha hecho costumbre en Israel. Están escritas entre las Lamentaciones.	25 Jeremiah composed a lament for Josiah and all the male and female singers to this day lamentJosiah in their dirges; they have made it a rule in Israel; they are recorded in the Lamentations.
26 El resto de los hechos de Josías, sus obras piadosas conforme a lo escrito en la Ley de Yahveh,	26 The rest of the history of Josiah, his deeds of faithful love conforming to what is prescribed in theLaw of Yahweh,
27 y sus obras primeras y postreras, están escritas en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá.	27 his history from first to last, are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
