1 Todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Ozías, que tenía dieciséis años, y le proclamaron rey en lugar de su padre Amasías.	1 All the people of Judah chose Uzziah, though he was but sixteen years of age, and proclaimed him king to succeed his father Amaziah.
2 Reconstruyó Elat y la devolvió a Judá, después que el rey se hubo acostado con sus padres.	2 He rebuilt Elath and restored it to Judah; this was after King Amaziah had gone to rest with his ancestors.
3 Dieciséis años tenía Ozías cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó 52 años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Yekoliá, de Jerusalén.	3 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother, named Jecoliah, was from Jerusalem.
4 Hizo lo recto a los ojos de Yahveh, enteramente como lo había hecho su padre Amasías.	4 He pleased the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done.
5 Buscó a Dios durante la vida de Zacarías, que le instruyó en el temor de Dios; y mientras buscó a Yahveh, Dios le dio prosperidad.	5 He was prepared to seek God as long as Zechariah lived, who taught him to fear God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper.
6 Salió a campaña contra los filisteos y abrió brecha en el muro de Gat, en el muro de Yabné y en el muro de Asdod; restauró las ciudades en la región de Asdod y entre los filisteos.	6 He went out and fought the Philistines and razed the walls of Gath, Jabneh and Ashdod (and built cities in the district of Ashdod and in Philistia).
7 Dios le ayudó contra los filisteos, contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur Báal y contra los meunitas.	7 God helped him against the Philistines, against the Arabs who dwelt in Gurbaal, and against the Meunites.
8 Los ammonitas pagaron tributo a Ozías, y su fama llegó hasta la frontera de Egipto, porque se había hecho sumamente poderoso.	8 The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah and his fame spread as far as Egypt, for he grew stronger and stronger.
9 Ozías construyó torres en Jerusalén sobre la puerta del Angulo, sobre la puerta del Valle y en el Angulo, y las fortificó.	9 Moreover, Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the Angle, and he fortified them.
10 Construyó también torres en el desierto y excavó muchas cisternas, pues poseía numerosos ganados en la Tierra Baja y en la llanura, así como labradores y viñadores en las montañas y en los campos fértiles, porque le gustaba la agricultura.	10 He built towers in the desert and dug numerous cisterns, for he had many cattle. He had plowmen in the foothills and the plains, and vinedressers in the highlands and the garden land. He was a lover of the soil.
11 Ozías tenía un ejército que hacía la guerra; salía a campaña por grupos, conforme al número de su censo hecho bajo la vigilancia de Yeiel el escriba, y Maaseías el notario, a las órdenes de Jananías, uno de los jefes del rey.	11 Uzziah also had a standing army of fit soldiers divided into bands according to the number in which they were mustered by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the recorder, under the command of Hananiah, one of the king's officials.
12 El número total de los jefes de familia era de 2.600 hombres esforzados.	12 The entire number of family heads over these valiant warriors was two thousand six hundred,
13 A sus órdenes había un ejército de campaña de 307.500 hombres, que hacían la guerra con gran valor, para ayudar al rey contra el enemigo.	13 and at their disposal was a mighty army of three hundred seven thousand five hundred fighting men of great valor to help the king against his enemies.
14 Ozías proporcionó a todo aquel ejército en cada una de sus campañas escudos y lanzas, yelmos y corazas, arcos y hondas, para tirar piedras.	14 Uzziah provided for them--for the entire army--bucklers, lances, helmets, breastplates, bows and slingstones.
15 Hizo construir en Jerusalén ingenios inventados por expertos, para colocarlos sobre las torres y los ángulos y para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras. Su fama se extendió lejos, porque fue prodigioso el modo como supo buscarse colaboradores hasta hacerse fuerte.	15 He also built machines in Jerusalem, devices contrived to stand on the towers and at the angles of the walls to shoot arrows and cast large stones. His fame spread far and wide, and his power was ascribed to the marvelous help he had received.
16 Mas, una vez fortalecido en su poder, se ensoberbeció hasta acarrearse la ruina, y se rebeló contra Yahveh su Dios, entrando en el Templo de Yahveh para quemar incienso sobre el altar del incienso.	16 But after he had become strong, he became proud to his own destruction and broke faith with the LORD, his God. He entered the temple of the LORD to make an offering on the altar of incense.
17 Fue tras él Azarías, el sacerdote, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Yahveh, hombres valientes,	17 But Azariah the priest, and with him eighty other priests of the LORD, courageous men, followed him.
18 que se opusieron al rey Ozías y le dijeron: «No te corresponde a ti, Ozías, quemar incienso a Yahveh, sino a los sacerdotes, los hijos de Aarón, que han sido consagrados para quemar el incienso. ¡Sal del santuario porque estás prevaricando, y tú no tienes derecho a la gloria que viene de Yahveh Dios!»	18 They opposed King Uzziah, saying to him: "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who have been consecrated for this purpose. Leave the sanctuary, for you have broken faith and no longer have a part in the glory that comes from the LORD God."
19 Entonces Ozías, que tenía en la mano un incensario para ofrecer incienso, se llenó de ira, y mientras se irritaba contra los sacerdotes, brotó la lepra en su frente, a vista de los sacerdotes, en la Casa de Yahveh, junto al altar del incienso.	19 Uzziah, who was holding a censer for burning the incense, became angry, but at the moment he showed his anger to the priests, while they were looking at him in the house of the LORD beside the altar of incense, leprosy broke out on his forehead.
20 El sumo sacerdote Azarías y todos los sacerdotes volvieron hacía él sus ojos, y vieron que tenía lepra en la frente. Por lo cual lo echaron de allí a toda prisa; y él mismo se apresuró a salir, porque Yahveh le había herido.	20 Azariah the chief priest and all the other priests examined him, and when they saw that his forehead was leprous, they expelled him from the temple. He himself fled willingly, for the LORD had afflicted him.
21 El rey Ozías, quedó leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa aislada, como leproso, porque había sido excluido de la Casa de Yahveh; su hijo Jotam estaba al frente de la casa del rey y administraba justicia al pueblo de la tierra.	21 King Uzziah remained a leper to the day of his death. As a leper he dwelt in a segregated house, for he was excluded from the house of the LORD. Therefore his son Jotham was regent of the palace and ruled the people of the land.
22 El resto de los hechos de Ozías, los primeros y los postreros, los escribió el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amós.	22 The prophet Isaiah, son of Amos, wrote the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last.
23 Acostose Ozías con sus padres y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepuclros de los reyes, porque decían: «Es un leproso». En su lugar reinó su hijo Jotam.	23 Uzziah rested with his ancestors; he was buried with them in the field adjoining the royal cemetery, for they said, "He was a leper." His son Jotham succeeded him as king.
