1 En su lugar reinó su hijo Josafat, el cual se fortificó contra Israel.	1 His son Jehoshaphat succeeded him as king and strengthened his hold against Israel.
2 Puso guarniciones en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y estableció gobernadores en el país de Judá y en las ciudades de Efraím, que Asá su padre había conquistado.	2 He placed armed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which his father Asa had taken.
3 Estuvo Yahveh con Josafat, porque anduvo por los caminos que había seguido anteriormente su padre David y no buscó a los Baales,	3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the ways his father had pursued in the beginning, and he did not consult the Baals.
4 sino que buscó al Dios de sus padres andando en sus mandamientos, sin imitar los hechos de Israel.	4 Rather, he sought the God of his father and observed his commands, and not the practices of Israel.
5 Yahveh consolidó el reino en su mano; y todo Judá traía presentes a Josafat, que adquirió grandes riquezas y honores.	5 As a result, the LORD made his kingdom secure, and all Judah gave Jehoshaphat gifts, so that he enjoyed great wealth and glory.
6 Su corazón cobró ánimo en los caminos de Yahveh, hasta hacer desaparecer de Judá los altos y los cipos.	6 Thus he was encouraged to follow the LORD'S ways, and again he removed the high places and the sacred poles from Judah.
7 El año tercero de su reinado envió a sus oficiales Ben Jáyil, Abdías, Zacarías, Natanael y Miqueas para que enseñasen en las ciudades de Judá,	7 In the third year of his reign he sent his leading men, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
8 y con ellos a los levitas Semaías, Netanías, Zebadías, Asahel, Semiramot, Jonatán, Adonías, Tobías, y con estos levitas a los sacerdotes Elisamá y Yehoram,	8 With them he sent the Levites Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah and Tobijah, together with the priests Elishama and Jehoram.
9 los cuales enseñaron en Judá, llevando consigo el libro de la Ley de Yahveh. Recorrieron todas las ciudades de Judá, enseñando al pueblo.	9 They taught in Judah, having with them the book containing the law of the LORD; they traveled through all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
10 El terror de Yahveh se apoderó de todos los reinos de los países que rodeaban a Judá, de manera que no hicieron guerra contra Josafat.	10 Now the fear of the LORD was upon all the kingdoms of the countries surrounding Judah, so that they did not war against Jehoshaphat.
11 Los filisteos trajeron a Josafat presentes y plata como tributo. También los árabes le trajeron ganado menor: 7.700 carneros y 7.700 machos cabríos.	11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and a tribute of silver; and the Arabs also brought him a flock of seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.
12 Así Josafat iba engrandeciéndose cada vez más, hasta lo sumo, y edificó en Judá castillos y ciudades de aprovisionamiento.	12 Jehoshaphat grew steadily greater. He built strongholds and store cities in Judah.
13 Llevó a cabo muchas obras en las ciudades de Judá, y tuvo una guarnición de guerreros escogidos en Jerusalén.	13 He carried out many works in the cities of Judah, and he had soldiers, valiant warriors, in Jerusalem.
14 Esta es la lista, por sus casas paternas: De Judá, jefes de millar: Adná, el jefe, y con él 300.000 hombres esforzados.	14 This was their mustering according to their ancestral houses. Of Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him three hundred thousand valiant warriors.
15 A su lado el jefe Yehojanán, y con él 280.000.	15 Next to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.
16 A su lado Amasías, hijo de Zikrí, que se había consagrado espontáneamente a Yahveh, y bajo su mando 200.000 hombres esforzados.	16 Next to him, Amasiah, son of Zichri, who offered himself to the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand valiant warriors.
17 De Benjamín: Elyadá, hombre valeroso, y con él, 200.000 armados de arco y escudo.	17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a valiant warrior, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and buckler.
18 A su lado Yehozabad, y con él, 180.000 equipados para la guerra.	18 Next to him, Jozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.
19 Estos eran los que servían al rey, sin contar los que el rey había puesto en las ciudades fortificadas por todo Judá.	19 These were at the service of the king; in addition were those whom the king had placed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
