1 En el año diecisiete de Pecaj, hijo de Remalías, comenzó a reinar Ajaz, hijo de Jotam, rey de Judá.	1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah, son of Remaliah, Ahaz, son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign.
2 Tenía Ajaz veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. No hizo lo recto a los ojos de Yahveh su Dios, como su padre David.	2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did not please the LORD, his God, like his forefather David,
3 Anduvo por el camino de los reyes de Israel e incluso hizo pasar por el fuego a su hijo, según las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahveh había arrojado ante los israelitas.	3 but conducted himself like the kings of Israel, and even immolated his son by fire, in accordance with the abominable practice of the nations whom the LORD had cleared out of the way of the Israelites.
4 Ofreció sacrificios y quemó incienso en los altos, en las colinas y bajo todo árbol frondoso.	4 Further, he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on hills, and under every leafy tree.
5 Entonces subió Rasón, rey de Aram, y Pecaj, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, para combatir a Jerusalén y la cercaron, pero no pudieron conquistarla.	5 Then Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to attack it. Although they besieged Ahaz, they were unable to conquer him.
6 En aquel tiempo el rey de Edom recobró Elat para Edom; expulsó a los de Judá de Elat, entraron los edomitas en Elat y habitaron allí hasta el día de hoy.	6 At the same time the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom, driving the Judeans out of it. The Edomites then entered Elath, which they have occupied until the present.
7 Ajaz envió mensajeros a Teglatfalasar, rey de Asiria, diciendo: «Soy tu siervo y tu hijo. Sube, pues y sálvame de manos del rey de Israel que se han levantado contra mí».	7 Meanwhile, Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, with the plea: "I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the clutches of the king of Aram and the king of Israel, who are attacking me."
8 Y tomó Ajaz la plata y el oro que había en la Casa de Yahveh y en los tesoros de la casa del rey y lo envió al rey de Asiria como presente.	8 Ahaz took the silver and gold that were in the temple of the LORD and in the palace treasuries and sent them as a present to the king of Assyria,
9 El rey de Asiria le escuchó y subió contra Damasco, la conquistó, los deportó a Quir y mató a Rasón.	9 who listened to him and moved against Damascus, which he captured. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death.
10 El rey Ajaz fue a Damasco al encuentro de Teglatfalasar, rey de Asiria, y viendo el altar que había en Damasco, envío al sacerdote Urías la imagen del altar y su modelo, según toda su hechura.	10 King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria. When he saw the altar in Damascus, King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest a model of the altar and a detailed design of its construction.
11 El sacerdote Urías construyó un altar; todo cuanto el rey Ajaz había mandado desde Damasco lo realizó el sacerdote Urías antes de que el rey Ajaz regresara de Damasco.	11 Uriah the priest built an altar according to the plans which King Ahaz sent him from Damascus, and had it completed by the time the king returned home.
12 Cuando el rey regresó de Damasco vio el altar, se acercó y subió a él.	12 On his arrival from Damascus, the king inspected this altar, then went up to it and offered sacrifice on it,
13 Mandó quemar sobre el altar su holocausto y su oblación, hizo su libación y derramó la sangre de sus sacrificios de comunión;	13 burning his holocaust and cereal-offering, pouring out his libation, and sprinkling the blood of his peace-offerings on the altar.
14 desplazó el altar de bronce que estaba ante Yahveh, delante de la Casa, de entre el altar nuevo y la Casa de Yahveh, y lo colocó al lado del altar nuevo, hacia el norte.	14 The bronze altar that stood before the LORD he brought from the front of the temple--that is, from the space between the new altar and the temple of the LORD--and set it on the north side of his altar.
15 El rey Ajaz ordenó al sacerdote Urías: «Sobre el altar grande quemarás el holocausto de la mañana y la oblación de la tarde, el holocausto del rey y su oblación, el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra, sus oblaciones y sus libaciones, derramarás sobre él toda la sangre del holocausto y toda la sangre del sacrificio. Cuanto al altar de bronce, yo me ocuparé de él».	15 "Upon the large altar," King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, "burn the morning holocaust and the evening cereal offering, the royal holocaust and cereal offering, as well as the holocausts, cereal offerings, and libations of the people. You must also sprinkle on it all the blood of holocausts and sacrifices. But the old bronze altar shall be mine for consultation."
16 El sacerdote Urías hizo cuanto le había ordenado el rey Ajaz.	16 Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had commanded.
17 El rey Ajaz desmontó los paneles de las basas, quitó de encima de ellos la jofaina; hizo bajar el Mar de bronce de sobre los bueyes que estaban debajo de él y lo colocó sobre un solado de piedra.	17 King Ahaz detached the frames from the bases and removed the lavers from them; he also took down the bronze sea from the bronze oxen that supported it, and set it on a stone pavement.
18 Cuanto al estrado del trono de la Casa de Yahveh, que se había construido en ella, y la entrada exterior del rey, lo quitó por causa del rey de Asiria.	18 In deference to the king of Assyria he removed from the temple of the LORD the emplacement which had been built in the temple for a throne, and the outer entrance for the king.
19 El resto de los hechos de Ajaz, lo que hizó ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Judá?	19 The rest of the acts of Ahaz are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
20 Ajaz se acostó con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la Ciudad de David. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Ezequías.	20 Ahaz rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Hezekiah succeeded him as king.
