Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars;1 E un portento grande fu visto nel cielo: una donna ravvolta dal sole, e la luna sotto i suoi piedi, e sulla sua testa una corona di dodici stelle;
she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery.2 avendo un nascituro nel ventre, grida nelle doglie e nel travaglio del parto.
And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads.3 E fu visto un altro portento nel cielo: ecco un dragone rosso-fuoco, grande, avente sette teste e dieci corna, e sulle sue teste sette diademi,
His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth;4 e la sua coda trascina la terza parte delle stelle del cielo, e le gettò sulla terra. È il dragone si pose davanti alla donna che stava per partorire, per divorare il suo nato quando lo avrà partorito.
she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne,5 Ed essa partorì un figlio, maschio, che deve governare tutte le genti con bastone di ferro; e il nato fu rapito fino a Dio e fino al suo trono.
and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which to be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.6 E la donna fuggì nel deserto, ove ha un luogo preparato da Dio affinché ivi la nutriscano per milleduecentosessanta giorni.
Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,7 E avvenne una guerra nel cielo: Michele e i suoi angeli guerreggiavano contro il dragone, e il dragone guerreggiava con i suoi angeli.
but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.8 Questi non prevalsero né si trovò più luogo: per essi nel cielo.
And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.9 E fu gettato il dragone grande, il serpente antico; chiamato «Diavolo» . e «Satana», che seduce l’intera terra: abitata; fu gettato sulla terra, e i suoi angeli furono gettati con lui.
And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.10 E udii una voce grande nel cielo che diceva: «Ormai è avvenuta la salvezza, la potenza e il regno del Dio nostro è l’autorità. del suo Cristo, perché è avvenuta la salvezza, la potenza e il regno del Dio nostro è l’autorità del suo Cristo perché è stato gettato l’accusatore dei fratelli nostri, il quale li accusa davanti al Dio nostro giorno e notte;
And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.11 Ed essi lo hanno vinto a causa del sangue dell'agnello e a causa della parola della loro testimonianza, e non hanno amato l’anima loro fino alla morte.
Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"12 Perciò rallegratevi, cieli e quanti dimorate in essi! Guai alla terra e al maré, poiché discese il diavolo a voi, avendo furore grande, sapendo che ha poco tempo».
And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had borne the male child.13 E quando il dragone vide che fu gettato sulla. terra, perseguito la donna che partorì il maschio.
But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.14 E furono date alla donna È due ali dell’aquila grande per volare nel deserto al suo luogo, ove è nutrita un tempo, due tempi e metà d’un tempo, lungi dalla faccia del serpente.
The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with the flood.15 E il serpente gettò dalla sua bocca dietro la donna acqua quanto un fiume, per farla travolgere dal fiume;
But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon had poured from his mouth.16 ma la terra soccorse la donna, e la terra aprì la sua, bocca e assorbì il fiume che il dragone. aveva gettato dalla sua bocca.
Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.17 E si adirò il dragone contro la donna, e partì per fare guerra contro i rimanenti del suo seme che osservano i comandamenti di Dio e hanno la testimonianza di Gesù;
e si fermò sulla spiaggia del mare.
