Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition LXX
"'So the Lord confirmed his word, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged Israel, and against our kings and against our princes and against the men of Israel and Judah.1 και εστησεν κυριος τον λογον αυτου ον ελαλησεν εφ' ημας και επι τους δικαστας ημων τους δικασαντας τον ισραηλ και επι τους βασιλεις ημων και επι τους αρχοντας ημων και επι ανθρωπον ισραηλ και ιουδα
Under the whole heaven there has not been done the like of what he has done in Jerusalem, in accordance with what is written in the law of Moses,2 ουκ εποιηθη υποκατω παντος του ουρανου καθα εποιησεν εν ιερουσαλημ κατα τα γεγραμμενα εν τω νομω μωυση
that we should eat, one the flesh of his son and another the flesh of his daughter.3 του φαγειν ημας ανθρωπον σαρκας υιου αυτου και ανθρωπον σαρκας θυγατρος αυτου
And he gave them into subjection to all the kingdoms around us, to be a reproach and a desolation among all the surrounding peoples, where the Lord has scattered them.4 και εδωκεν αυτους υποχειριους πασαις ταις βασιλειαις ταις κυκλω ημων εις ονειδισμον και εις αβατον εν πασι τοις λαοις τοις κυκλω ου διεσπειρεν αυτους κυριος εκει
They were brought low and not raised up, because we sinned against the Lord our God, in not heeding his voice.5 και εγενηθησαν υποκατω και ουκ επανω οτι ημαρτομεν κυριω θεω ημων προς το μη ακουειν της φωνης αυτου
"'Righteousness belongs to the Lord our God, but confusion of face to us and our fathers, as at this day.6 τω κυριω θεω ημων η δικαιοσυνη ημιν δε και τοις πατρασιν ημων η αισχυνη των προσωπων ως η ημερα αυτη
All those calamities with which the Lord threatened us have come upon us.7 α ελαλησεν κυριος εφ' ημας παντα τα κακα ταυτα ηλθεν εφ' ημας
Yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord by turning away, each of us, from the thoughts of his wicked heart.8 και ουκ εδεηθημεν του προσωπου κυριου του αποστρεψαι εκαστον απο των νοηματων της καρδιας αυτων της πονηρας
And the Lord has kept the calamities ready, and the Lord has brought them upon us, for the Lord is righteous in all his works which he has commanded us to do.9 και εγρηγορησεν κυριος επι τοις κακοις και επηγαγε κυριος εφ' ημας οτι δικαιος ο κυριος επι παντα τα εργα αυτου α ενετειλατο ημιν
Yet we have not obeyed his voice, to walk in the statutes of the Lord which he set before us.10 και ουκ ηκουσαμεν της φωνης αυτου πορευεσθαι τοις προσταγμασιν κυριου οις εδωκεν κατα προσωπον ημων
"'And now, O Lord God of Israel, who didst bring thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and with signs and wonders and with great power and outstretched arm, and hast made thee a name, as at this day,11 και νυν κυριε ο θεος ισραηλ ος εξηγαγες τον λαον σου εκ γης αιγυπτου εν χειρι κραταια και εν σημειοις και εν τερασιν και εν δυναμει μεγαλη και εν βραχιονι υψηλω και εποιησας σεαυτω ονομα ως η ημερα αυτη
we have sinned, we have been ungodly, we have done wrong, O Lord our God, against all thy ordinances.12 ημαρτομεν ησεβησαμεν ηδικησαμεν κυριε ο θεος ημων επι πασιν τοις δικαιωμασιν σου
Let thy anger turn away from us, for we are left, few in number, among the nations where thou hast scattered us.13 αποστραφητω ο θυμος σου αφ' ημων οτι κατελειφθημεν ολιγοι εν τοις εθνεσιν ου διεσπειρας ημας εκει
Hear, O Lord, our prayer and our supplication, and for thy own sake deliver us, and grant us favor in the sight of those who have carried us into exile;14 εισακουσον κυριε της προσευχης ημων και της δεησεως ημων και εξελου ημας ενεκεν σου και δος ημιν χαριν κατα προσωπον των αποικισαντων ημας
that all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, for Israel and his descendants are called by thy name.15 ινα γνω πασα η γη οτι συ κυριος ο θεος ημων οτι το ονομα σου επεκληθη επι ισραηλ και επι το γενος αυτου
O Lord, look down from thy holy habitation, and consider us. Incline thy ear, O Lord, and hear;16 κυριε κατιδε εκ του οικου του αγιου σου και εννοησον εις ημας κλινον κυριε το ους σου και ακουσον
open thy eyes, O Lord, and see; for the dead who are in Hades, whose spirit has been taken from their bodies, will not ascribe glory or justice to the Lord,17 ανοιξον κυριε τους οφθαλμους σου και ιδε οτι ουχ οι τεθνηκοτες εν τω αδη ων ελημφθη το πνευμα αυτων απο των σπλαγχνων αυτων δωσουσιν δοξαν και δικαιωμα τω κυριω
but the person that is greatly distressed, that goes about bent over and feeble, and the eyes that are failing, and the person that hungers, will ascribe to thee glory and righteousness, O Lord.18 αλλα η ψυχη η λυπουμενη επι το μεγεθος ο βαδιζει κυπτον και ασθενουν και οι οφθαλμοι οι εκλειποντες και η ψυχη η πεινωσα δωσουσιν σοι δοξαν και δικαιοσυνην κυριε
For it is not because of any righteous deeds of our fathers or our kings that we bring before thee our prayer for mercy, O Lord our God.19 οτι ουκ επι τα δικαιωματα των πατερων ημων και των βασιλεων ημων ημεις καταβαλλομεν τον ελεον ημων κατα προσωπον σου κυριε ο θεος ημων
For thou hast sent thy anger and thy wrath upon us, as thou didst declare by thy servants the prophets, saying:20 οτι ενηκας τον θυμον σου και την οργην σου εις ημας καθαπερ ελαλησας εν χειρι των παιδων σου των προφητων λεγων
"Thus says the Lord: Bend your shoulders and serve the king of Babylon, and you will remain in the land which I gave to your fathers.21 ουτως ειπεν κυριος κλινατε τον ωμον υμων και εργασασθε τω βασιλει βαβυλωνος και καθισατε επι την γην ην εδωκα τοις πατρασιν υμων
But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord and will not serve the king of Babylon,22 και εαν μη ακουσητε της φωνης κυριου εργασασθαι τω βασιλει βαβυλωνος
I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the region about Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, and the whole land will be a desolation without inhabitants."23 εκλειψειν ποιησω εκ πολεων ιουδα και εξωθεν ιερουσαλημ φωνην ευφροσυνης και φωνην χαρμοσυνης φωνην νυμφιου και φωνην νυμφης και εσται πασα η γη εις αβατον απο ενοικουντων
"'But we did not obey thy voice, to serve the king of Babylon; and thou hast confirmed thy words, which thou didst speak by thy servants the prophets, that the bones of our kings and the bones of our fathers would be brought out of their graves;24 και ουκ ηκουσαμεν της φωνης σου εργασασθαι τω βασιλει βαβυλωνος και εστησας τους λογους σου ους ελαλησας εν χερσιν των παιδων σου των προφητων του εξενεχθηναι τα οστα βασιλεων ημων και τα οστα των πατερων ημων εκ του τοπου αυτων
and behold, they have been cast out to the heat of day and the frost of night. They perished in great misery, by famine and sword and pestilence.25 και ιδου εστιν εξερριμμενα τω καυματι της ημερας και τω παγετω της νυκτος και απεθανοσαν εν πονοις πονηροις εν λιμω και εν ρομφαια και εν αποστολη
And the house which is called by thy name thou hast made as it is today, because of the wickedness of the house of Israel and the house of Judah.26 και εθηκας τον οικον ου επεκληθη το ονομα σου επ' αυτω ως η ημερα αυτη δια πονηριαν οικου ισραηλ και οικου ιουδα
"'Yet thou hast dealt with us, O Lord our God, in all thy kindness and in all thy great compassion,27 και εποιησας εις ημας κυριε ο θεος ημων κατα πασαν επιεικειαν σου και κατα παντα οικτιρμον σου τον μεγαν
as thou didst speak by thy servant Moses on the day when thou didst command him to write thy law in the presence of the people of Israel, saying,28 καθα ελαλησας εν χειρι παιδος σου μωυση εν ημερα εντειλαμενου σου αυτω γραψαι τον νομον σου εναντιον υιων ισραηλ λεγων
"If you will not obey my voice, this very great multitude will surely turn into a small number among the nations, where I will scatter them.29 εαν μη ακουσητε της φωνης μου η μην η βομβησις η μεγαλη η πολλη αυτη αποστρεψει εις μικραν εν τοις εθνεσιν ου διασπερω αυτους εκει
For I know that they will not obey me, for they are a stiff-necked people. But in the land of their exile they will come to themselves,30 οτι εγνων οτι ου μη ακουσωσιν μου οτι λαος σκληροτραχηλος εστιν και επιστρεψουσιν επι καρδιαν αυτων εν γη αποικισμου αυτων
and they will know that I am the Lord their God. I will give them a heart that obeys and ears that hear;31 και γνωσονται οτι εγω κυριος ο θεος αυτων και δωσω αυτοις καρδιαν και ωτα ακουοντα
and they will praise me in the land of their exile, and will remember my name,32 και αινεσουσιν με εν γη αποικισμου αυτων και μνησθησονται του ονοματος μου
and will turn from their stubbornness and their wicked deeds; for they will remember the ways of their fathers, who sinned before the Lord.33 και αποστρεψουσιν απο του νωτου αυτων του σκληρου και απο πονηρων πραγματων αυτων οτι μνησθησονται της οδου πατερων αυτων των αμαρτοντων εναντι κυριου
I will bring them again into the land which I swore to give to their fathers, to Abraham and to Isaac and to Jacob, and they will rule over it; and I will increase them, and they will not be diminished.34 και αποστρεψω αυτους εις την γην ην ωμοσα τοις πατρασιν αυτων τω αβρααμ και τω ισαακ και τω ιακωβ και κυριευσουσιν αυτης και πληθυνω αυτους και ου μη σμικρυνθωσιν
I will make an everlasting covenant with them to be their God and they shall be my people; and I will never again remove my people Israel from the land which I have given them."35 και στησω αυτοις διαθηκην αιωνιον του ειναι με αυτοις εις θεον και αυτοι εσονται μοι εις λαον και ου κινησω ετι τον λαον μου ισραηλ απο της γης ης εδωκα αυτοις
