1 "'So the Lord confirmed his word, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged Israel, and against our kings and against our princes and against the men of Israel and Judah.	1 Per la qual cosa lo nostro Signore Iddio ordinò la sua parola, la quale egli parlò a noi, e a' nostri giudici i quali giudicarono Israel, e alli nostri re, e alli nostri principi, e a tutto Israel, e (in tutto) Giuda;
2 Under the whole heaven there has not been done the like of what he has done in Jerusalem, in accordance with what is written in the law of Moses,	2 acciò che Iddio ci mandasse grandi mali, i quali non sono fatti sotto lo sole (cioè che sono tauto grandi, che non si viddono mai tali), sì come sono fatti in Ierusalem, secondo che è descritto nella legge di Moisè;
3 that we should eat, one the flesh of his son and another the flesh of his daughter.	3 cioè che l' uomo mangiasse le carni del suo figliuolo e della sua figliuola.
4 And he gave them into subjection to all the kingdoms around us, to be a reproach and a desolation among all the surrounding peoples, where the Lord has scattered them.	4 E diedeli in mano di tutti li re, i quali sono nel nostro circuito, in vituperio e in desolazione in tutti li popoli, nei quali Iddio disperse noi.
5 They were brought low and not raised up, because we sinned against the Lord our God, in not heeding his voice.	5 E siamo fatti di sotto, e non di sopra, però che noi peccammo al nostro Signore Iddio, non udendo la sua voce.
6 "'Righteousness belongs to the Lord our God, but confusion of face to us and our fathers, as at this day.	6 Al nostro Signore Iddio sia giustizia; ma alli nostri padri e a noi sia confusione di faccia, com'è questo dì.
7 All those calamities with which the Lord threatened us have come upon us.	7 Però che Iddio parlò sopra noi, tutti questi mali i quali vennero sopra noi.
8 Yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord by turning away, each of us, from the thoughts of his wicked heart.	8 E non aviamo pregato il nostro Signore Iddio, acciò che noi ci partiamo, ciascuno di noi, dalle nostre vie pessime.
9 And the Lord has kept the calamities ready, and the Lord has brought them upon us, for the Lord is righteous in all his works which he has commanded us to do.	9 E Iddio vegghiò ne' mali, e mandoe quelli sopra noi; però ch' egli è giusto il Signore in tutte le sue opere, le quali egli comandò a noi.
10 Yet we have not obeyed his voice, to walk in the statutes of the Lord which he set before us.	10 E non udimmo la voce sua, acciò che noi andassimo nelli suoi comandamenti, i quali egli diede (a noi) inanzi alla faccia nostra.
11 "'And now, O Lord God of Israel, who didst bring thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and with signs and wonders and with great power and outstretched arm, and hast made thee a name, as at this day,	11 E ora, Signore Iddio d' Israel, lo quale menasti lo popolo tuo della terra d'Egitto con forte mano, e con segni e con maraviglie, e colla tua grande volontà e coll' alto braccio, e facesti nome a te, sì come è questo dì,
12 we have sinned, we have been ungodly, we have done wrong, O Lord our God, against all thy ordinances.	12 noi aviamo peccato, e fatto malvagiamente, e siamoci portato male, o Iddio Signore nostro, in tutte le tue giustizie.
13 Let thy anger turn away from us, for we are left, few in number, among the nations where thou hast scattered us.	13 Rivolgasi la tua ira da noi, però che noi siamo rimasi pochi tra le genti dove tu ci dispergesti.
14 Hear, O Lord, our prayer and our supplication, and for thy own sake deliver us, and grant us favor in the sight of those who have carried us into exile;	14 O Signore, esaudisci li nostri prieghi e le nostre orazioni, e mena noi per te, e odi noi acciò che noi troviamo grazia inanzi alla faccia di coloro che ci hanno menato;
15 that all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, for Israel and his descendants are called by thy name.	15 acciò che lo sappia tutta la terra, come tu se' lo nostro Signore Iddio, e che lo tuo nome si è invocato (e chiamato) sopra Israel, e sopra la sua generazione.
16 O Lord, look down from thy holy habitation, and consider us. Incline thy ear, O Lord, and hear;	16 Riguarda, Signore, della tua santa casa in noi, e inchina li tuoi orecchi, ed esaudisci noi.
17 open thy eyes, O Lord, and see; for the dead who are in Hades, whose spirit has been taken from their bodies, will not ascribe glory or justice to the Lord,	17 Apri li tuoi occhi, e vedi; però che non li morti che sono nello inferno, lo spirito de' quali è accetto (e tolto) delle loro interiora, daranno [onore el giustificazione a Dio;
18 but the person that is greatly distressed, that goes about bent over and feeble, and the eyes that are failing, and the person that hungers, will ascribe to thee glory and righteousness, O Lord.	18 ma l'anima, la quale è trista sopra la grandezza del male, e va torta e inferma (nelle cose basse), e li occhi mancanti, e l'anima [che] averà fame, darà gloria e giustizia a te, Signore; (cioè ch' ella ti vuole dire in sentenza, che quelli che sono in inferno, che si chiamano morti, non danno lode a Dio, ma che dà lode a Dio l'anima trista e dolente delli suoi peccati).
19 For it is not because of any righteous deeds of our fathers or our kings that we bring before thee our prayer for mercy, O Lord our God.	19 Per che non secondo la giustizia de' nostri padri spargiamo le preghiere, e dimandiamo la misericordia inanzi al conspetto tuo, Signore nostro Iddio;
20 For thou hast sent thy anger and thy wrath upon us, as thou didst declare by thy servants the prophets, saying:	20 ma perciò che mandasti la tua ira e il tuo furore sopra noi, sì come tu hai parlato nella mano de' tuoi servi profeti, dicendo:
21 "Thus says the Lord: Bend your shoulders and serve the king of Babylon, and you will remain in the land which I gave to your fathers.	21 così dice Iddio: inchinate lo vostro omero e lo vostro capo, e fate opera allo re di Babilonia; e sederete nella terra la quale io diedi alli vostri padri.
22 But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord and will not serve the king of Babylon,	22 E se voi (non lo farete, e) non udirete la voce del vostro Signore Iddio, cioè d' operare allo re di Babilonia, io farò lo vostro difetto delle cittadi di Giuda, e di fuori di Ierusalem;
23 I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the region about Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, and the whole land will be a desolation without inhabitants."	23 e torrò da voi la voce della giocondità, e la voce d'allegrezza, e la voce dello sposo, e la voce della sposa; e tutta la terra sarà sanza norma da quelli che (non) l' abiteranno.
24 "'But we did not obey thy voice, to serve the king of Babylon; and thou hast confirmed thy words, which thou didst speak by thy servants the prophets, that the bones of our kings and the bones of our fathers would be brought out of their graves;	24 E non udirono la voce tua per operare allo re di Babilonia; e ordinasti le tue parole, le quali tu parlasti in mano di tutti li servi tuoi profeti, acciò che fussono trasportate l'ossa delli re nostri e delli nostri padri dello luogo suo.
25 and behold, they have been cast out to the heat of day and the frost of night. They perished in great misery, by famine and sword and pestilence.	25 Ecco che sono gittate allo caldo del sole e allo gelo della notte; e sono morti in dolori pessimi, cioè in fame e in coltello e in audare in prigione.
26 And the house which is called by thy name thou hast made as it is today, because of the wickedness of the house of Israel and the house of Judah.	26 E ponesti lo tempio, dove chiamarono lo tuo ncme, come è questo dì, per la iniquità d' Israel e di Giuda.
27 "'Yet thou hast dealt with us, O Lord our God, in all thy kindness and in all thy great compassion,	27 E tu, nostro Signore, facesti a noi secondo tutta tua bontà, e secondo tutta la tua misericordia grande;
28 as thou didst speak by thy servant Moses on the day when thou didst command him to write thy law in the presence of the people of Israel, saying,	28 sì come tu hai parlato in mano del tuo servo Moisè, nel dì che tu li comandasti ch' egli scrivesse la tua legge inanzi a' figliuoli d' Israel,
29 "If you will not obey my voice, this very great multitude will surely turn into a small number among the nations, where I will scatter them.	29 dicendo: se voi non udirete la mia voce, tutta questa grande moltitudine si convertirà in poca gente, imperò ch' io li dispergerò.
30 For I know that they will not obey me, for they are a stiff-necked people. But in the land of their exile they will come to themselves,	30 Però che sono mio popolo, e non udirono me; però che questo popolo si è di duro capo; e convertirassi al suo cuore nella terra della sua cattività.
31 and they will know that I am the Lord their God. I will give them a heart that obeys and ears that hear;	31 E sapranno ch' io sono lo loro Signore Iddio; e darò a loro cuore, e intenderanno; [orecchie], e udiranno.
32 and they will praise me in the land of their exile, and will remember my name,	32 E loderanno me nella terra della loro prigione, e averanno memoria del mio nome.
33 and will turn from their stubbornness and their wicked deeds; for they will remember the ways of their fathers, who sinned before the Lord.	33 E rivolgerannosi dallo loro duro dorso, e dalla loro malignitade; però che si ricorderanno della via delli loro padri, i quali peccarono incontro a me.
34 I will bring them again into the land which I swore to give to their fathers, to Abraham and to Isaac and to Jacob, and they will rule over it; and I will increase them, and they will not be diminished.	34 E rivolgerolli nella terra la quale io giurai alli loro padri, cioè Abraam, Isaac e Iacob, e averanno signoria di loro; e multiplicherò loro, e non saranno sminuiti.
35 I will make an everlasting covenant with them to be their God and they shall be my people; and I will never again remove my people Israel from the land which I have given them."	35 E ordinerò loro un altro testamento sempiterno, acciò ch' io sia loro Signore, e saranno mio popolo; e non moverò più lo mio popolo, figliuoli d' Israel, della terra la quale io diedi loro.
