1 How the Lord in his anger has set the daughter of Zion under a cloud! He has cast down from heaven to earth the splendor of Israel; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.	1 ALEF. Como cobriu o Senhor de escuridão, no seu furor, a filha de Sião? Precipitou do céu sobre a terra a glória de Israel; não se lembrou do estrado de seus pés, no dia do seu furor.
2 The Lord has destroyed without mercy all the habitations of Jacob; in his wrath he has broken down the strongholds of the daughter of Judah; he has brought down to the ground in dishonor the kingdom and its rulers.	2 BET. O Senhor destruiu, sem piedade, todas as moradas de Jacob: destruiu no seu furor as fortificações da filha de Judá, lançou-as por terra; rebaixou o reino e os seus príncipes.
3 He has cut down in fierce anger all the might of Israel; he has withdrawn from them his right hand in the face of the enemy; he has burned like a flaming fire in Jacob, consuming all around.	3 CHIMEL. Quebrou, no transporte do seu furor, todo o poderio de Israel; retirou a sua direita, em face do inimigo, e ateou em Jacob um incêndio que devora tudo em volta.
4 He has bent his bow like an enemy, with his right hand set like a foe; and he has slain all the pride of our eyes in the tent of the daughter of Zion; he has poured out his fury like fire.	4 DALET. Estendeu o seu arco como inimigo, firmou a sua direita como adversário, matou tudo o que era formoso à vista na tenda da filha de Sião, derramou como fogo a sua indignação.
5 The Lord has become like an enemy, he has destroyed Israel; he has destroyed all its palaces, laid in ruins its strongholds; and he has multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.	5 HE. O Senhor tornou-se como um inimigo; destruiu Israel, destruiu todos os seus palácios, arrasou as suas fortificações e encheu a filha de Judá de gemidos e mais gemidos.
6 He has broken down his booth like that of a garden, laid in ruins the place of his appointed feasts; the LORD has brought to an end in Zion appointed feast and sabbath, and in his fierce indignation has spurned king and priest.	6 VAU. Destruiu a sua cerca como a dum jardim, demoliu o seu lugar de reunião; o Senhor suprimiu em Sião as festas e o sábado; rejeitou, na indignação do seu furor, o rei e o sacerdote.
7 The Lord has scorned his altar, disowned his sanctuary; he has delivered into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; a clamor was raised in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.	7 ZAIN. O Senhor perdeu a estima pelo seu altar, sentiu repulsa pelo seu santuário, entregou nas mãos dos Inimigos os muros das suas fortalezas; ergueram-se gritos na casa do Senhor, como em dia de solenidade.
8 The LORD determined to lay in ruins the wall of the daughter of Zion; he marked it off by the line; he restrained not his hand from destroying; he caused rampart and wall to lament, they languish together.	8 HET. O Senhor resolveu destruir os muros da filha de Sião; estendeu o seu cordel, e não retirou a sua mão, sem que ficasse tudo arruinado; enlutou o muro e antemuro, que estão, igualmente, desolados.
9 Her gates have sunk into the ground; he has ruined and broken her bars; her king and princes are among the nations; the law is no more, and her prophets obtain no vision from the LORD.	9 TET. As suas portas estão sepultadas na terra; (o Senhor) destruiu, fez em pedaços as suas trancas; o seu rei e os seus príncipes estão entre as nações; já não há lei; os seus profetas já não conseguem visões do Senhor.
10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have cast dust on their heads and put on sackcloth; the maidens of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.	10 JOD. Sentaram-se em terra, em silêncio, os velhos da filha de Sião; cobriram as suas cabeças de cinza, cingiram-se de cilícios. Inclinaram as suas cabeças até à terra, as virgens de Jerusalém.
11 My eyes are spent with weeping; my soul is in tumult; my heart is poured out in grief because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because infants and babes faint in the streets of the city.	11 CAF. Os meus olhos enfraqueceram de tanto chorar, as minhas entranhas turbaram-se, o meu fígado derramou-se por terra vendo a ruína da filha do meu povo, quando caíam mortos os meninos e as crianças de peito nas praças da cidade.
12 They cry to their mothers, "Where is bread and wine?" as they faint like wounded men in the streets of the city, as their life is poured out on their mothers' bosom.	12 LAMED. Eles diziam a suas mães: Onde está o trigo e o vinho? - quando, como feridos, iam desfalecendo nas praças da cidade, quando entregavam as suas almas no regaço de suas mães.
13 What can I say for you, to what compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What can I liken to you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For vast as the sea is your ruin; who can restore you?	13 MEM. A quem te compararei, a quem te assemelharei, é filha de Jerusalém? Quem acharei igual a ti, para te consolar, ó virgem, filha de Sião? É grande como o mar a tua ruína: quem poderá curar-te?
14 Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes, but have seen for you oracles false and misleading.	14 NUM. Os teus profetas anunciaram, a teu respeito, visões vãs e insensatas, e não te manifestaram a tua iniquidade, para te evitarem o cativeiro, mas anunciaram-te visões de engano e de mentira.
15 All who pass along the way clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their heads at the daughter of Jerusalem; "Is this the city which was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of all the earth?"	15 SAMEC. Batiam com as mãos, vendo-te todos os que passavam pelo caminho; assobiavam e abanavam a cabeça contra a filha de Jerusalém. Eis a cidade (diziam eles) de perfeita formosura, as delícias de toda a terra!
16 All your enemies rail against you; they hiss, they gnash their teeth, they cry: "We have destroyed her! Ah, this is the day we longed for; now we have it; we see it!"	16 FB. Abriam contra ti a sua boca todos os teus inimigos; assobiavam e rangiam os dentes, dizendo; Devorámo-la! Eis o dia que esperávamos; aqui o temos, aqui o vemos.
17 The LORD has done what he purposed, has carried out his threat; as he ordained long ago, he has demolished without pity; he has made the enemy rejoice over you, and exalted the might of your foes.	17 AIN. O Senhor fez o que tinha planejado, cumpriu a palavra que tinha pronunciado desde os tempos antigos; destruiu sem piedade, alegrou o inimigo a teu respeito, exaltou o poder dos teus adversários.
18 Cry aloud to the Lord! O daughter of Zion! Let tears stream down like a torrent day and night! Give yourself no rest, your eyes no respite!	18 SADE. O seu coração clama ao Senhor! Ó muralha da filha de Sião, faze correr uma como torrente de lágrimas de dia e de noite; não te dês descanso algum. não repouse a pupila dos teus olhos.
19 Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord! Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.	19 COF. Levanta-te, ergue clamores de noite, no princípio das vigílias; derrama o teu coração como água diante do Senhor; levanta as tuas mãos para ele, (chorando) pela vida dos teus filhinhos, que desfalecem de fome a todos os cantos das ruas.
20 Look, O LORD, and see! With whom hast thou dealt thus? Should women eat their offspring, the children of their tender care? Should priest and prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?	20 RBS. Vê, Senhor, e considera: a quem trataste, alguma vez, assim? Há mulheres que comem os frutos das suas entranhas, os filhinhos embalados no seu regaço! São mortos no santuário do Senhor o sacerdote e o profeta!
21 In the dust of the streets lie the young and the old; my maidens and my young men have fallen by the sword; in the day of thy anger thou hast slain them, slaughtering without mercy.	21 SIN. Jazem por terra, nas ruas, a criança e o velho; as minhas virgens e os meus jovens caíram mortos à espada; tu os mataste no dia do teu furor, feriste-os sem compaixão alguma.
22 Thou didst invite as to the day of an appointed feast my terrors on every side; and on the day of the anger of the LORD none escaped or survived; those whom I dandled and reared my enemy destroyed.	22 TAU. Chamaste, como a um dia de solenidade, os que deviam aterrar-me de todas as partes; não houve no dia do furor do Senhor quem escapasse, quem ficasse com vida; aqueles que acarinhei e criei o meu Inimigo os exterminou.
